    4:31 cracks me up. Pip blocks the shot, is disgusted with himself for not coming up with the ball and then 5 seconds later as an afterthought he's like maybe I should talk a little trash here...."get that shit outta here Dennis" LOL. And Dennis Scott shouts "And 1" as if he got fouled when he damn well knows he didn't lol. What a great era of basketball. Props to whichever network's mic caught that. You would never see that on ESPN or ABC since they block out cursing during games.

      The most startling thing is how not one player is covered with tattoos. This illustrates that there was a time when the NBA was populated by the best and brightest players, not thugs and crossed eyed idiots only looking for a multi-million dollar contract. You watch those fools play, and it's the most boring shit you've ever seen, because they don't love the game, only the money.

    Scottie Pippen was a one man, double team. Probably the most underrated NBA player in history simply because he played next to the greatest ever. The fact that the Bulls had Pippen, Jordan and Rodman on 1! team is almost criminal.

      funny thing is, nobody gave a shit about Rodman until he joined the Bulls. Jackson was a genius for recruiting him as he saw the diamond in the ruff! Boy did the bulls elevate Rodman's game even higher! Such an godly team!

    • @Drazicist
      @Drazicist 10 років тому +98

      Chesco Not true at all. Rodman was a defensive star on the pistons that won 2 championships and was a DPOY before he went to the Bulls, he was actually a shell of his former self when he played with Chicago. Rodman wasn't even Jacksons first choice, he took Rodman by default, Jackson gets far too much credit.

      "The fact that the Bulls had Pippen, Jordan and Rodman on 1! team is almost criminal." As great of a rebound specialist and defense he added he still was nowhere near as valuable to the team as Pippen/Jordan. Don't forget that the team was mostly made up of garbage "helpers".

      Absolutely he would. Pippen was the key to the 1991 NBA finals when he was put on Magic who manhandled MJ in game 1.
      Somehow Pippen's no where to be found when MJ fans discuss the 6-0 thing. This is why MJ retired in 1998-1999...he knew how difficult things would've been for him with Pippen no longer his teammate.

    Pippen was the ultimate all rounder basketball player and not to forget a very smart and intelligent one too. To make a successful offensive play is a great attributes of any basketball player but to be able to read opponents offensive plays and counter them with your defensive moves and make an successful offensive play out of it when least expected, now that is a legend my friends, that's Scottie Pippen.

      TheRoseExperience I highly doubt that, because perhaps what you have been seeing online are his highlights, which only showcases the good stuff. There's a point that the Bulls' had Scottie guard him for an entire series and beat the Magic 4-0.

    • @AxeSmashDemolition
      @AxeSmashDemolition 9 років тому +26

      TheRoseExperience I still remember the game where Horace Grant came back to the United Center for the first time after going to Orlando as a free agent in '95. Pippen was a man possessed in that game and locked down Penny something fierce. I don't think Penny even scored double digits in that game. And in the '96 ECF Penny had a great Game 1 but Pippen pretty much held him to a sub-par series after that on the way to a 4-0 sweep by the Bulls.

      It's so true. I always think about when people scoff at Lebron being mentioned with Jordan or Kobe. They always bring up Jordan's 6 titles. People tend to forget Jordan had an All-star team playing with the Bulls...Rodman & Pippen are two of the best defensive players in NBA history. Jordan was great, no doubt, but you need team depth to accomplish their wins. The Bulls in 96 have arguably the best defense in NBA history with their length, speed, intelligence, and pure determination. They had Toni Kukoc, the NBA 6th man of the year in 96, who was their 3rd leading scorer for 3 years in a row. Steve Kerr..the list goes on and on.

    Pippen was the leading vote getter on the NBA All-Defensive First Team, voted by the coaches, 4 consecutive years, in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997, and as far as I'm concerned, that's the REAL DPOY!
    1994: Pippen 1st (45/52 pts); DPOY: Olajuwon 3rd (35 pts)
    1995: Pippen 1st (46/52 pts); DPOY: Mutombo 2ND TEAM!! (26 pts)
    1996: Pippen 1st (55/56 pts!!); DPOY: Payton 3rd (48 pts)
    1997: Pippen 1st (53/56 pts); DPOY: Mutombo 3rd (50 pts)
    Scottie Pippen NEVER won the Defensive Player of the Year award, and that may be one of the biggest travesties in sports. Why? Because the DPOY is voted by the media, and they know squat about real defensive talent. You know who recognized that Pippen was the best defender of the 90's? The coaches!

      Bruh opposing coaches can’t watch every game of an opponent. But congrats on that accomplishment. Phil Jackson shitted on coaches voting for Kobe, who he watched every practice, & game, still making defensive teams, when Phil, Kobe’s own coach, felt he didn’t deserve it. Tex winters also said the same about Kobe. Now this isn’t saying Pippen didn’t deserve it, but it’s saying that coaching system, is sometimes flawed. Then missing 38 games and making 1st team defense in 1998 is questionable.

    I love every video you've made of Pippen, and I read someone's comment in this video saying, "You only showed steals and blocks". I told him, "People don't understand how to watch for Pippen's ability to prevent the other team from making the smooth entry pass due to Pippen always threatening the lane. As a fan you watch the player with the ball, so it's hard for almost anybody (other than a good coach) to see how amazing Scottie was at blocking or threatening the lane. He literally prevented entire teams from playing their normal sets... but without a video that includes narration describing this along with someone drawing circles on the screen (like Kenny Smith) it would be impossible to just run a video of Scottie's finer defensive skills, because most would be blind to see those skills. Plus each video would have to be 30 minutes long if you include all his hustle plays, etc that weren't just steals or blocks lol

  • @rollotomasi4045
    @rollotomasi4045 5 років тому +2

    Jordan is the G.O.A.T., great all-around volume scorer in both isolation and off the ball, elite defender and rebounder for his position, an assassin in the final 6 minutes in the game, and a fiery competitor who always played with a chip on his shoulder. He was the face and hero of the league and delivered.
    But Pippen deserves just as much credit in the Bulls championships. Pippen was the anchor of the Bulls pressure defense and he was the playmaker who kept his teammates involved in the offense throughout the entire game. He took on the toughest defensive assignments on the perimeter and kick-started many of the Bulls runs by creating a turnover on the defensive end and either finishing on the fast break or knocking down a pull up three-point shot. Pippen also lent moral support to his teammates after MJ lashed out at them. Pippen made the Bulls play better as a team.
    And the Bulls' elite pressure defense and the reliability of his teammates to make an open shot in crunch time gave the opportunity for MJ to be the finisher in the final six minutes. And Pippen made that happen. And MJ knows it.

      Michael Jordan has had enormous impact on Scotties defensive ability. But it took great talent and hard work from Scottie to be able to reach that level of defensive mastery. But there is no doubt that MJ has taught a lot of things to Scottie when he joined the Bulls in 1987

      If that was the case than the bulls wouldve been compared to a team like the pistons in terms of defense. Chuck daly was a coach who focused on defense while phil was balanced but more about scoring. Scottie was the only major defensive threat on that team. And before anyone gets butthurt notice how i said MAJOR their were people (like grant) who was good defensivly but scottie was the one who really brought it to the team.

    • @datooo23

There is no doubt MJ has taught a lot of things to Pip. What are u trying to deny? That MJ has had a great impact on Scottie's defense? Don't try that.

It was fun to watch the other team come unglued with frustration.

    Scottie Pippen was one of the elite defenders of all time which goes to show just how great Michael Jordan was. Check out what their teammate Craig Hodges had to say...
    "I can remember this one time in, I think 1990 when Scottie decided to challenge Michael one day in practice", Hodges said. "Michael kind of backed up for a half-second. Then he proceeded, literally, to score on Scottie at will. It was incredible. I mean, Scottie Pippen even then was one of the best players in the league and Michael just rained points on him. Scottie had to step back and say, "Slow up, man".

    Many people overlook this but that what made the bulls dangerous they were so defensively strong, MJ and Scottie were lockdown defenders, Mj and Scottie are the only two players to both have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a single season, Mj did it twice not only the greatest player but the best two way player, when they got Rodman it was over, you have mj lockdown on perimeter, Scottie locks down all positions, and Dennis also good on the perimeter and in the paint

    I hate it when people make it seem like Jordan carried those bulls teams by himself. They were 1-12 in playoffs games before they drafted Pippen. He had Pippen (best defender in the league), Rodman (best rebounder in NBA history), Phil Jackson (best head coach in NBA history), Kerr (best shooter in the league), Kukoc (best euro in the league)...when people look back at those teams, all they see is Jordan, and rightfully so. But those bulls teams were so stacked, even if you take Jordan off of them, they still had a contending team.

      Spoot Spit i think scottie would man... LBJ is a great player and top 10 all time, but i feel like scottie is the guy to shut him down... he had the footspeed to stay with him, and scottie was big enough that he wouldn't get completely bullied by LBJ... but i think it comes down to scotties length and athleticism...

    I'm personally tired of the "Jordan made Pippen" myth. If Jordan was never on the Bulls, Pippen would've still been great. He wasn't selected 5th overall in the 1987 draft for nothing. He was the 1994 All-Star MVP, led the Bulls in every stat, and is the all-time playoff steals leader. The only season he missed the playoffs with a losing record was his final season, when he was injured for 50+ games.

      Did you ever hear about Pippen before he was drafted? I think not so stfu. Not trying to take away from Pippen but Jordan made that man the defender and offensive player he was.

      Did you watch Pippen's rookie season when broadcasters were already predicting that Pippen would become a star? I think not so stfu.

      I heard of Pippen before he was drafted. Most people probably wouldn't know this but the Bulls thought they had Pippen completely hidden before the draft and were at a safe spot to get him. However, many teams saw Pippen's skill in the pre-draft workouts and were very intrigued which is why Jerry Krause went into overdrive trying to move up in the draft to snatch him. Being a Pistons fan I remember an article on Chuck Daly seeing Pippen's skill in the pre-draft camps and was in awe. Detroit's GM Jack McCloskey boldly predicted that Pippen was going to be a superstar before he was even drafted and Detroit desperately wanted to get him but couldn't swing a deal.

    I remember growing up scottie Pippen being my favorite player, I bought his shoes and jersey instead of the Jordan ones… for me he represented the best possible team member any player could have.
    He did what was necessary for his team to win, totally unselfish, if it was necessary to defend, he chose the best player of the other team to defend, if it was necessary to pass, he was willing to give up shots, if he had to get rebounds, you could count on him, etc, he sacrificed any personal achievement for the greater good of his team. Respect 🫡

    Scottie you were a defensive clinic all by yourself every single game. Glad you played when I cared about the NBA, because you showed how the most important part of the game should be played. I took your lessons to every pickup game I played and thanks to you I was a better player.

    People forget about Pippen not only being a scorer, playmaker but he was the Greatest Perimeter defender in NBA history and a lot of the nights would guard the other teams best player... Here is Pippens 6 finals appearances and you tell me if he wasn't an all time great
    91 Finals =20.8/9.4/6.6/2.4/1.0 on 45% and Goat Defense
    92 Finals =20.8/8.3/7.7/1.5/0.7 on 48% and Goat Defense
    93 Finals= 21.2/9.2/7.7/2/1 on 43 % and Goat Defense
    96 Finals= 15.7/8.2/5.3/2.3/1.3 on 34% and Goat Defense
    97 Finals= 20/8.3/3.5/1.7/1.8 on 42% and Goat Defense
    98 Finals=15.7/6.8/4.8/1.7/0.8 on 41 % and Goat Defense...
    Scottie was easily a Number 1 scorer on most teams and he put up these numbers deferring to Michael alot as seen by 94,95 seasons where he scored 22 and 21.4 % on 52 pct respectively ..... He is a top tier player even if he couldn't score 10 points but the fact that he could consistently put up 20/8/7 on Goat defense and he gets no recognition is baffling to me.. He was a better defender than Mj by far and he was also a better playmaker... He was also more valuable than Dwade was to Lebron and anyone that knows basketball knows MJ only won because Of Pippen.. Mj was a loser and 1-9 in the Playoffs before Pippen.. Pippen went on to go to the ECF without Mj in Portland only to get stifiled by a rigged game for a laker win so they could make the finals... It's a joke how MJ gets all the credit and no one even talks about Scottie Pippen.. Fuckin morons

    Great offence is a great defence and great defence is a great offence. That’s why I loved the 90’s basketball, nearly ever major All-Star were great offensive and defensive players. It was really entertaining.
