you’re seriously so great for promoting aldi- it’s amazing how much our bill drops when we go there. we bought so much for less than $50, when we bought less items at walmart and it cost over $60.
as someone who maximizes, i also like that they have less variety- it makes it easier to choose. when there’s too much variety, it’s hard to sift through what could be garbage and what could be the best option. and it’s crazy how you can buy something for $2-$3 more at another store and it’s nearly an identical product.

My husband and I just went to Aldi. I normally use Instacart from other stores. I’m not even kidding when I say our Aldi trip was 50% less than our usually grocery bill 😮

You pronounced Lidl correctly! The store is from Germany and that’s how we pronounce it here. I always chuckle when I hear people pronounce it “little”. 😁
The way they advertise to us in the UK they play on the word being pronounced like little. Their tagline here is “big on quality, Lidl on price” so they told us to say it like that haha. Also the fact they call it the ‘middle of Lidl’ which implies it should rhyme. You’re obviously right since it originated in your country but it’s still weird that they mislead us in a way

I love Aldi & honestly I like most of the Aldi brand stuff better than name brand, but the aldis near me are just as expensive if not more than Walmart unfortunately 😭😭 we usually just end up going to Walmart for convenience! I’m just watching this video and it amazes me how much cheaper your groceries are in America compared to here in Australia. For instance, you showed us the loaf of bread your boys like 50c our white bread here is an average $4.00 (Woolworths and Coles). Living in Australia is very very expensive. A lot of folks are really struggling.

Groceries are so expensive these days. Having been in the United States for the past eight days, I’ve come to realize that high grocery prices aren’t unique to our grocery stores in Canada. We were in Florida and shopped at Publix, of which the prices were atrocious. However, it isn’t any different than the Atlantic Superstore, or Sobeys in New Brunswick. You are lucky to have an Aldi nearby, because those prices are amazing. We have No Frills, which offers cheap grocery products, and luckily, my city is getting one. I’d love for Aldi to expand to Canada, though.
Aldi is more expensive here in Florida. The prices Mary gives for her Aldi in North Carolina are way cheaper!

Do any of the items ever scan twice? I’m thinking that because there are so many barcodes on each item (and they’re often so large), that some items must scan more than once. Has that ever happened to you?
Yes, but the cashier always catches it and fixes it right away.

i went to germany this past summer with my boyfriends family and could not get enough german chocolate during my time there! when we got back, my boyfriend and i went to aldi for some groceries and i found the chocolate i was eating all the time in germany! i was SO excited and couldn’t believe that they had the fancy chocolate from germany- but then my boyfriend told me the chocolate i was eating in germany ALSO just came from aldi. anyways, now i go to aldi about every week, at the very least, to get my chocolate 🤣

Mary, I've commented a couple times on your channel but I have to comment again to try and express my appreciation for your content. I don't watch all the time, but every time that I come back your content it is the same as when I last watched. And because of that, I can always count on your videos allowing me to decompress after a day of work. I heard once in your videos that you work as a Patent Paralegal? I'm not sure if you still hold that job, but right now I'm a paralegal for a criminal defense firm and the work can be so exhausting sometimes! Mary this is off topic but there is an article on the internet by Good Housekeeping about things that may cause your lawn to have moss growing. There are reasons from the PH of the soil to shade from trees, etc. I know your date is computer savy so he may well have checked out the reasons his lawn may have moss infestation. Just thought I would mention the article. You make me hungry when you do the Aldi haul's, keep up the good work, and speaking of work have a good week ahead.
So jealous you have an Aldi with the prices you talk about I need a store like that, I find Safeway becoming way too expensive for me on one income with a baby on the way.
5 facts I learned about Mary watching her videos for years :
- Aldi is her favorite store (good deals and fast cashiers)
- She doesn't like the smell of bacon being cooked (so she buys it cooked already)
- She has been selling stuff on Ebay for so many years (she made good money thanks to it)
- She thought yellow didn't look good on her until she tried it on (her mom told her that)
- She dated a guy who had three balls (each Christmas, we hear it at least one time)
What else? :)
It's so funny how we know her so much, she is part of our life but she knows nothing about us!
Fact check, with all due respect:
- I don't really have a favorite store. It depends on what I'm shopping for and what's on sale.
- I LOVE the smell of bacon cooking and haven't bought pre-cooked bacon in years. I cook my own, but not very often, because it's just too damned expensive anymore. I can afford it; I just WON'T afford it.
- True, I've been selling on eBay for many years. I worked very hard and made money to put food on the table and pay bills as a single mom. I wouldn't call it "good money," but it certainly helped, and I'm glad I was able to do it. I don't sell much anymore on eBay because it's not worth the hassle, but I do still sell stuff occasionally just to keep my hand at it, and to keep up with the changes in the selling practices/procedures in case I ever need to do it more intensely in the future to eliminate the learning curve.
- I did believe that I shouldn't ever wear any shade of yellow because my mom told me that it'd make me "look dead". Turns out she was wrong. Lesson learned - just because somebody gave birth to you doesn't mean they're right about everything. And that's ok. Nobody's right all the time.
- I never dated the guy with three balls. He was the boyfriend of someone I knew years ago. Also, you hear about it more than just Christmastime.
What else? I know nothing about you, but - again, with all due respect - it turns out that you don't have all the facts about me, either, so I guess we're even. :)
