That looks delicious, I’m definitely going to add it to my quick and easy meals repertoire. I make cube steaks prepared almost exactly the same way. Sauté onions remove from pan ,season the cube steaks then dust with flour and brown them in a cast-iron skillet for three or four minutes on each side, remove them from the pan and add a couple of tablespoons of butter and flour to the pan off heat cook it for 30 or 40 seconds with residual heat then slowly add 2 1/2 cups of cold water while whisking then add a package of onion soup mix and return to heat until it thickens. I use Lipton beefy onion soup mix when I can find it if not regular onion soup mix with some extra beef base will do the same thing. Add the onions and cube steaks back to the skillet covering the steaks with the gravy and cook in a 350 oven for about 35 minutes . They come out fork tender. I serve them with mashed potatoes and field peas. If your family likes extra gravy just add a little bit more butter and flour to the pan for your roux and then an extra cup or so of beef broth.
If there is something that smells better than onions being fried, I am not aware of it. Love that smell more than freshly mowed hay or a nice spring rain. Your recipe looks great! Thanks!
Go to Lodge . I just got some new skillets and they came with glass lids. I don't know if they sell them separately or not but it wouldn't heart to ask .
Another favorite of mine, Beef Stroganoff! I Iove that you use what you have of sour cream... It all works out in the end! And I am the substitute king in my cooking.... A change of ingredient just cause I don't have what a recipe calls for, just means a substitute is needed....works for me!
I just found your channel and subscribed! Not naming names but I came across many prepsteaders or homestead type of channels where for some reason the lady in the video isn’t wearing much clothing. Hey it’s their choice but I’m not a fan of using that to get views. So basically I appreciated finding your channel and now have to binge watch your videos to get caught up! 😊👍👍👍
Hey Meredith! Beef Stroganoff is one of my grandson’s favs! I’m glad you reminded me of that because they’re coming for two weeks- in a few weeks 😊. They live in far away south Florida...too far away from SC. This Grana is so excited -I doubt the 16 year old boy is as excited as I am about their two weeks in the country.-but his 11 year old sister is. 😊😊. I do know he loves that they’re treated like the prince and princess they are when they’re here!! They’re good kids and I feed them well and love them even better. When they’re here-anything-everything they want is served!! Here’s a tip for you-you can also use ground beef for this dish. Just brown it up and mix it with everything else. It’s what my grandkids like so ground beef it is!! Take care, God bless!
Who could get bored watching you cook? Hope it tasted better than it looks? We haven't been able to buy cream of mushroom soup here for over a month. Among other things.
I'm with u on the beef broth. That is the best tasting. I also have the chicken broth in that same brand but didn't know they had a ham one which I will gladly try and I'm sure it's just as delicious. Ham broth great to add to pinto beans.
Because butter keeps the noodles from absorbing those good flavors. You did good. Ps... I add lemon pepper every so often ... not all at once cause it doesn’t work as well at the end. You need to wait 10 + min to let things meld...then taste and add again anything you feel is slight
Looks good Meredith! I make it almost the same way. I add green chiles to the sauce. The guys eat it all up, and usually I get just enough to fill me up...... barely....LOL!
Dang, I'm going to try it. I was just thinking about making it for dinner. I have ground beef, no problem but no sour cream. Meredith got me hooked on Duke's. Thank you!
looks delicious ! Hearing you talk about someone putting the tea pitcher back in the fridge almost empty, reminds me of my wife and the ice trays. we never had a fridge with an ice maker, so we used trays , so she would need ice and open the the freezer to find one ice cube left in the tray , she would get so mas at the kids(son) and ask why didn't you fill it up , he would say it wasn't empty . lol
Morning Meredith and family just watched 👍👍 I have a confession...! I have not tried the red label yet, 🤔 anyhoo, I like that...! Happy Saturday 👍✌😉🙏🇺🇸❤
Martie I seen this video about a month ago. On the 22nd i was in the local hardware store and though about your cact iron lids so asked the teller and she told me they had the cast iron lids so bough a set for you and sent them Ups. They should be there by the 25th. Happy birthday, merry christms whatever comes first. I enjoy your vidoes very much.
Miss Annabelle says hi and yummy yummy in the tummy. Check out the lodge cast-iron website and see if they carry lids just a idea but I'm like you just use a another lid that fits mine. Keep up the great videos
I remember when beef tips were the left over meat when the butcher finished trimming up a cow. Now they want close to as much for tips as you can get steak for. My chili and beef stroganoff is made using London broil. Wish I could use cast iron on the solid surface electric stove, so when I need or want to use it, I have to use the burner on the BBQ grill. Butter or olive oil added to the noodles will keep them from sticking after being drained. After watching your food videos, you've now changed my dinner plans. I was going to be crab cakes, now it's got to be stroganoff.
I use a 10", 14", and a griddle from Lodge on a solid surface electric stove. It's a little slow to heat and then stays warm forever unless you take it off the burner. Just don't slide it around. Wear your oven mitt and grab the handle to steady the pan before you poke around in it. Works great!!!!
Craig Lange My Lodge frying pans have the ring around the bottom so the middle of the pan is unsupported. The old Griswold pan doesn’t sit flat. All the miracle non-stock pans are only non-stick for a couple of weeks, then they’re no better than a stainless steel pan. The better half was the one that wanted an electric range. I like natural gas and LP. Cast iron cookware once seasoned works so much better.
That’s the way I make my stroganoff, love it! I do have to say I did get the black label Musket Powder and that has become my favorite seasoning. Gonna get the red label soon!
This Farm Wife Cooks I just tried something with the Musket Powder this morning. Put it on my bacon while it was cooking.....really good! You’ve probably tried it already but wanted to share
Musket Powder consist of pepper, decaf coffee and some spices. Your stroganoff really looks good. I would settle for beef tips and gravy with the noodles but, w/o the sour cream. You are looking as usual and it is better to stand when you are slicing meat so you don't cut yourself.
My mom made it that same way, and if she had left over white rice we got that instead of egg noodles. Is there anything that smells better than onion and garlic browning?
MB... Try this trick. Thaw your meat in a sink of HOT water for 20 min. or so instead of in the micro. It won't start cooking like the micro usually does! The only thing better than Beef Tip Stroganoff... is my VENISON Stroganoff!!! YuM!!!
Meredith: Always remember you are enough. But today you are......Strog..enough !! Good luck with your cup flipping......you got this. Remember drink first, then flip. If only it was garden mowers....you’d probably win !
I really dislike people putting small amounts back in the fridge I had a grand daughter comment on my comment so they became known as poppy puddles and it stuck enjoy your stories
You did it al wrong and it came out alright, then again call it beef stroganoff or beef and gravy you put that stuff over egg noodles, it can't been anything but delicious. Winning Dinner
awesome, happy video. as per your usual style.
God bless a farmer's wife. After all, a farm can't run on empty stomachs. Great job Meredith. That meal looked delicious. 😋
I get such joy watchingyou cooking videos. As soon as I see you I begin to smile. Thanks it looks good. God Bless.

If you have another cast iron frying pan that size you can use it for a lid
Looks good Meredith! I make it almost the same way. I add green chiles to the sauce. The guys eat it all up, and usually I get just enough to fill me up...... barely....LOL!

Great video! Love you lady! And I bet there was no leftovers? Lol

I wonder how some Dukes would be if you don’t have enough sour cream. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks
Dang, I'm going to try it. I was just thinking about making it for dinner. I have ground beef, no problem but no sour cream. Meredith got me hooked on Duke's. Thank you!

@@gungadinn I agree with everything you said. I'm stuck with electric. Slow reaction takes some of the fun out of cooking.

Amazon has cast iron lids
I agree with not making more dishes to warsh than necessary.
Typo, Golden Mushroom soup. Try it, it is very good! It is all Pat and I use. God Blees to all!
👍👌🇨🇦❤, if you don't have Musket Powder, why don't you, nicely done
Yummy
DELICIOUS!!!!
Try Golden Mushroon
LodgeMfg.com They have glass or cast iron lids to fit all of your cast iron skillets
What if you dont like cream of mushroom soup
Yes, you could omit it and just use beef broth and flour to make it thicker :D
A can of French Onion Soup instead of the Water really sets it off.
Put two layer of tin foil to fit the pot then place you I’ll fitting top to make it work!
Now I'm hungry.

Meredith I went to www.google.com and typed in lid for cast iron skillet. Got lots of hits you might want to just look around.
❤❤❤❤
You can always use yogurt instead of sour cream
Love yaw
It doesn't matter what you add to it as long as you have Beef, right. About 4lbs would be good
Hey, Use tin foil, It make a great lid!
I really dislike people putting small amounts back in the fridge I had a grand daughter comment on my comment so they became known as poppy puddles and it stuck enjoy your stories
Haha!
Bye some Dutch Ovens that match your size cast iron skillets,,,2 birds 1 stone...lol..🇺🇲
Meredith, sometimes you say olive oil and sometimes you say olive awl. why is that?
I have no idea
John Swartz it’s what makes Meredith-well Meredith!! Meredith, you keep on talking like you talk-oil or awl-it’s all the same! 😉

I bet you ate frozen food diners and grew up with easy bake oven recipes.lol
No, my mom and dad both cooked. But I did have an easy bake oven :)
Yeah….it’s never a good idea to put your garlic in that early….
Really. A can of mushroom soup. Rookie
Yup. That's me!
