Abandoned TattooTonyAlton Exploring Beautiful thank you for sharing some american history. That is sad how come the place of Saint Louis did not keep the building and it could be a museum.

Explore Abandoned Places With TattooTonyAlton What a shame- the building was probably beautiful at one time- filled with love & laughter, children being born, growing- playing. Then the other side when there were sad times with children /wife/who knows how many others died over the years. If those walls could talk.
Thanks for telling us about the place & making this video. Soon it seems it will be torn down & we will lose another pice of history.

As an architect I weep when i see this, I would give anything to deconstruct it move to a suitable location and rebuild and restore it to or as close to original as possible, I did a Brownstone from Detroit everything is labeled and ready for reconstruction of 100% build, I am willing to make deals on it, I am looking at several others and am in the process of decon on 7 antique homes.

Michael Smith wow awesome.. look through my channel, sub and keep watching. you will see more and more old buildings.. unless of course you don't want to weep.. which is understandable. check out the stone home from 1856 I believe is the date.. it's a federal style building.. could be saved.. but looks like it won't be

I really like the video. The mansion is huge. Such a shame that it has fallen into such disrepair. It is sad to think of all the memories that are gone/lost for forever. I bet it was beautiful in its own time. Thank you for visiting Mark Twain's home. Be safe!

    Hiya, Tony!!!
... Lemmetellya, your drift, float & pan shots are naturally getting better and better, *YOU--ARE--OFFICIALLY-UP--AND--FLYING* creativity-wise. Day vs. Night better. Whatta kick, really. I genuinely saw that coming, *EXCELLENT.*
Here's Karmic-Ping synchronicity for ya ... I got into a really nice conversation with a total stranger yesterday; an elderly man with a cane, who was obviously having as much trouble with his knees as I was having. I was sitting on a Wal-Mart bench packing up my groceries in this telescopic handle airline luggage-on-wheel thingie I use as a shopping basket when he tottered by, so I quickly said "Here, I'll scootch over here, have a seat", which he gratefully took.
After we got through bitching about our decaying bodies and laughingly comparing symptoms, something clicked, and, long story short, I somehow found myself talking about *Samuel Clemens,* aka Mark Twain, and reeling off some of my favourite quotes. And as I did so, this man's eyes transitioned from simply sparkling, to an intense glow, which I noticed. So, I shut up, and simply returned "that smile" which had also lit up his face.
And then he told me that he was a retired actor, in his '70's, and that he had toured in the same *AN EVENING WITH MARK TWAIN* stage play as had Hal Holbrook. *My fucking jaw hit the floor.* By the time his wife showed up, and finally (and quite rightly) lost patience with both of us, she needed those "Jaws Of Life" portable hydraulic pry-bar thingie EMT's use to get people out of horrendous car wrecks. You just don't luck into many conversations as great as that one genuinely was.
So, when I saw what building you were getting into this time, Tony, well, my jaw hit the floor *again. PINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGG!!*
And then you started commenting about how annoyed you are by camera shakiness, and I got *PINNNNNNNNGED* again to the max. Laying somewhere in my bedroom are *TWO* technically excellent one-hand-held *steadicam mounts* which I bought in a fit of Terminal Techno-Geekiness (from that wholesale website I routinely haunt) over a year ago ... *AND HAVE NEVER USED.*
Why I bought 'em but never used 'em is neither here nor there, "Typical Tom.* The eternal & infinite techno-geek in me got to drooling over all the chromium steel individually graded wheel weights that you screw-bolt on and off as needed, and how those wheel weights are on a slide-mount bar so you can place them for perfect balance, and then how even that slide-mount bar can be swung out, and locked into place to achieve perfectly level balance, no matter what your camera is carrying on its superstructure (light, mic, etc.) Bottom line, no matter what is attached to your camera in whatever configuration, this baby saw allllllllllll those problems coming, and provides simple, elegant "common sense" adjustment capabilities so as to assure a smooth, steady float. Your hold it in your hand like an automatic pistol; the handle is comfortably foam-padded.
It has a *FORWARD-L* configuration, and universal ball joint balance point. Simple, standard camera mount screw, which is ALSO on an fully in-out-forward-backward slide bar you lock down where you want it, for perfect balance in that axis.
I even fine-tuned it by adding a spring-and-polyurethane foam (ultra-permanent) motion damper on the axle underneath the universal ball joint balance point / camera mounting slide bar. I did this to add slight traction drag, so when you moved your hand to "point the gun" at something to the left or the right, and/or static-panned vertically up/down, the camera gently and smoothly follows your hand's aim. And it is *SWEET.* This same slight traction drag will hold a left or right-aimed travel-pan shot angle as you walk along. *SUPER SWEET!!!*
But the *REAL* hidden bonus in this baby is that using it will naturally cause you to slow down your panning motion speed a bit, so we audience members & fans can Ooooohhh and Aaaaaaahhh over what will come off as indoor aerial drone glass-smooth & solid movement, and exploration.
It's yours, Tony. I don't need it, and you do, so that's that. What a pleasure it'll be to just do what any valid Brotherhood Of Creativity lifelong member absolutely must do for another Brother: just shut the fuck up, do the right thing, and bask yet again in the glow of proving to one's self yet again that *actions speak louder than words.* And that a beyond-meaningful part of me will always be able to share in your sheer joy of being self-taught, *by the right equipment for the right job,* to get those floaty, dreamy, stream-of-consciousness master shot walkthroughs of *THE* most spectacular of surroundings, which you literally risk Life & Limb to get. *I get that, totally.*
I have to deal with some "Real World Bullshit" today, but I promise I'll take the pics and send you a photomontage of this baby, so *YOU* can have a good drool, too, lolol. I'll be looking to contact you through your website's *CONTACT ME* thingie, so I know where to mail it off to you ASAP. You mentioned in your recent "Update Statement" that you'll be having more time to get out and explore ... well, this has got to be at least *one* reason why I bought *two* of these things and never used 'em.
    Go fuckin' figure ... :)))
As Mark Twain so wisely said, "I have never let my education interfere with my learning".

I doubt we have in our country many skilled artisans left--if any--who are able to craft the woodwork, tile, moldings, etc. found brutalized in such neglected buildings, nor do we have the hardwoods and other precious raw materials available (except maybe in small quantities for the obscenely rich). Almost everything these days is artificial trash that doesn't last, and it's made by machines, so there is nothing unique about it---There can be little respect for any human beings if we don't respect the talent and love that others poured into making those beautiful things. It's so touching to consider this home was a monument to the love of his wife!

Thank you for the video. It's such a shame that those beautiful historical mansions are left to rot and decay. Sad that the city did nothing to preserve the mansion for future generations to enjoy. City leaders would just rather demolish these historical structures and make parking lots, than preserve them.
It happened where I live too. Some years back the city leaders wanted to demolish an old historical theater and make a parking lot in its place. The community was outraged at the prospect of losing this architectural gem to the wrecking ball. The people came together to try and save the theater by raising funds. Along with donations, fund raising, grants, etc. . ., the theater was saved and underwent million dollars renovation.
The theater was restored to its original splendor down to the very last detail. It's the Plaza Theater if you care to look it up. If it had not been for the efforts of the community to save it, the theater would not be in existence and in its place would be an ugly, bare parking lot right in the middle of the downtown area. Ugh😝😜.

There is a bit of a gap in the information about the 'social service' organizations that used the buildings. I was a part of a group that used the buildings from 1980 thru 1987. We never owned the property, but cooperated with the Vincentions to maintain the buildings during that time. when we left in '87 , it was because we didn't have enough volunteers to keep up with the work, and the city had done an inspection and determined that there were a lot of structural issues, and to repair would have amounted to about $220K back then. Another group did obtain the buildings later, and did take over ownership, but their effort failed after a few years, I guess because they couldn't raise the money to refurbish. As I recall, one of the big structural issue that had become apparent in the '80's was the cast iron front of the old mansion was becoming seperated from the structure. Nobody occupied the buildings after around '90 or so. Around the summer of 2017 there was a massive fire, possibly arson, or maybe fireworks, as this happened shortly after the 4th of July. Later the buildings were demolished. all one can see now are vacant lots.

Honestly I think your videos are as good as Dan Bell's. I think you should keep this stuff exclusive on your channel. But if you really want him to come explore with you, you should just comment on his videos and invite him. Then keep on, until he agrees.

Ya, it wasn't restored and didn't have money put into preserving it because it's on the North Side of Saint Louis. That's my best guess. It's crazy that social service organizations were operating out of it in the 90's and from then to now it's almost completely unsafe to walk through.

It's very sad that the two sister had to take care of the house that are from the past the poison but who's going to be take care in the future that they're not going to be there anymore because I'm a new owner or the new owner that I just don't care very good enough because well the struggles of the economy and everything on it that it is very difficult times and especially that well everyone has to be a always love and which one is it which one is not it doesn't matter is everything that it is very precious that are people like it they kind of like the other for the classical classic and restart you know but this is the future that how it is and for the future of everyone that I need to know that where they need to be a racing the money and to have a set that is unique it's not that is like Landmark or precious valuable or historic or something like that it doesn't matter like that it just is like to have a catch to it of a Santa Ines they look being understand and even sometimes. For the past and to the Future you know but someday that this house will be at take care of it or somebody new owners will take care of every sort but the video that I just saw that the floacist is half of it the Floyd is coming down the roofer is missing it's going to be like tremendous of a well everyone need to save all day get a piggy and empty you have there been a full you know and then everyone needs to understand that well it is only matters in time will tell the truth about it that if it's still there on 2021 then is still there today but many people that are. Just like a one or two I get a new house or get a used house or well other things but sometimes I gotta love a quiet place is just a quiet about your birth or neighborhoods and towns play relaxation comfortable and having fun and the future is always to see the what's going to happen next a dwell in the future and I hope that many people are well sometime that are 50 states that are have a precious of a where people date just don't know because looks like a very ugly from the outside but inside it is some of them unique and sometimes that people that always and I never know something about it and it sometimes. Well it's too much pain to right there had to be a paint removed and then you could see the true beauty right there and clean it up the woods possible because is everyone needs to know and let's see what's going to happen next
