  • *During the original Marvel comic run, Doc was killed in issue #109. Despite this, there are further versions of the figure: a mail-in 25th anniversary homage to the original design (2008) and an all new design (Toys R Us exclusive, 2010).

Rest in peace Buster Jones. He died a couple of days ago on 9/16/14. He was the actor who played Doc in the cartoon. Doc saved the butts of many of my Gi Joes on multiple occasions.

Thanks for watching! I like 12 inch Joes but don't own any. One day I'll borrow my cousin's '70's Adventure Team figures to do a review - they get referenced in 80's GI Joe a lot.

O-rings can break, but it's very rare. Two of my MOC have broken O-rings, but figures that I've had for longer are still fine. Just keep carded figures in a cool, dry area that is away from direct sunlight and they should last for a long time!

I like that you show some very nice carded examples to compliment the figure reviews, especially on the essential characters. Quick question: Have you had any issues with the o-rings breaking inside of the packaging? I'm trying to determine if this is inevitable for all Joes or just a myth perpetuated by people who don't collect MOC. Personally, none of mine have snapped. Thanks!

Don't discount the badassness of a Medic. Look up how many are Medal of Honor winners.

As a captain in the army, Doc wouldn't necessarily be on the front lines, or in combat. I think he's meant to be a support figure that comes in heat's low. I'm not saying he couldn't run trench to trench doing field dressings, but he would be back at the Command Center making judgement calls, running a M.A.S.H. and be consulted by Hawk, Keel-Haul and the other officers he doesn't outrank.

I had a lot of the 1982 and 1983 figures but only a couple 1984 figures. Flash, Destro, Airborne, Cobra Commander (mail-away), Duke (mail-away), Gung-Ho, Steeler (from the MOBAT), Ace (from the Skystriker), Rock N'Roll, Snake Eyes (82 version), Doc, Ripcord, Mutt, Cobra Officer (3 of them), Snow Job, Grand Slam (from the HAL) and Scarlett. Out of these only Doc, Gung-Ho, Ace and Airborne are still with me (some of them I gave away to cousins, some of them were lost and some thrown out).
