From earning 12 / month selling computers to a 4 Cr salary at Axis Bank.
For this episode, I got to talk to Mr. Karan Datta, the Ex-Chief Business Officer of Axis Mutual funds, starting from his journey as a computer salesman to eventually joining Axis Mutual funds.
Karan decided to retire at the peak of his career in his mid-40s, fueled by his passion for sports. We covered topics such as how he managed to build and maintain his 20Cr portfolio, when and why someone should consider retirement, and much more.
A big thanks to Karan once again for joining me on the show. And I highly recommend you watch the episode in full, trust me, his life is a roller coaster you will want to experience

Many of you had questions regarding Karan’s salary based on the graphic seen in the video.
At Axis Mutual Funds, his package was 2 crores of salary and 2 crores of ESOPS during his exit from the company in 2018.
His entry salary was similar to what he was earning at Goldman Sachs.
We have taken the most he earned at each career stage for a more straightforward visual representation.
Thanks for clarifying.
thanks for clarifying.. sharan are u vegetarian or non vegetarian
Bro can you please make a detailed video on compounding
My father was a chief engineer in FACT(PSU) in 1993 and his salary was 9000 Rs and take home was 6500 Rs in 1993; So I decided to join a private company in 2004 ; But now my friend who joined FACT, take home is 2 lakhs and mine is 90K; My advice for youngsters; Please keep changing companies every 3 years and get 30% hike on every 3 year; I stuck on to the same company from 2004 and all my friends who kept on jumping are taking around 2.2L per month. You might fall in love with the company; but you are just an instrument for the company
I fully understand.... but assuming you fell in love with the company, that in itself might be the environment many people are craving for, without which they talk about quiet quitting, leaving 9 to 5, don't work for money and other such philosophies ... Not against what you said, but its a possibility i gather from your words 👍
What struck me was Karan's humble way of speaking and addressing the questions!
There is something about the way this money plant is fitted. It caught all my attention 😂 But very interesting conversation
Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.
@rachealhubert74 Quitting may not be the best approach if you ask me. This is where an AI comes into the picture. I barely have time to trade myself as my job swallows up most of my time. Alice Marie Coraggio, a licensed fiduciary whom has made me over 5 figures in profit in less than seven months, handles my investments. I could leave you a lead if you need help.,...

At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Building wealth and remaining financially stable indefinitely is a lot easier with the appropriate information. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.
Most people simply enter the foreign exchange market without comprehending matters like this. The first stage in building money is determining your goals and risk tolerance, which you may do on your own or with the assistance of a financial counselor who works with a verified Finance agency. And also you can learn the facts about saving and investing and create a clear plan, you should be able to acquire financial security over time and enjoy the benefits of income management.
That is why I work with Eric T Witt, who introduced me to a better Financial community, a verified agency where I learned how money works and how to create it, as well as free books, courses, and daily lectures. You also get to meet new people, which was the best decision I ever made.
I'm also a proud beneficiary of Eric. i've built my portfolio massively and still building. Started with a youtube referral just like this and a few thousands. i'm way up to the profits now...
I'm so pleased seeing my manager Eric T Witt, talked about on UA-cam.This was exactly how I got recommended to her some few weeks ago. Started off with 3k about 2-3 weeks ago, and now I've made up to 14k. He's superb!
Thanks for sharing, I just looked him up on the web and I would say he really has an impressive background in investing. I will write him an e-mail shortly.
Perfect on point interview without any nonsense useless talks from both side 💛❤️
Sharan pls stop interrupting in between let the guest complete his full sentence. You before him completing you ask next question 👎
He is learning to interview yr dont criticize unnecessarily. He isnt working in some news channel.
This is a good feedback and i realised the same. Don't manifest your thoughts and let speaker give chance to complete what's in there mind. I completely echo that
@@Happysoul_3 why? Criticize nahi karega toh kya problem hai?
True
I think as a moderator he has to do it considering it's hardly 18 mins.
Karan sir is my inspiration. I wake up every morning and look forward to his tweets. Great guy, best wishes.
Wow, Sharan, this podcast was truly insightful! I learned so much about finance from your interview with the millionaire. The questions you asked were spot on, and the insights shared were invaluable. Thanks for providing such valuable content that helps us all grow our financial knowledge. Keep up the fantastic work!

Good one Sharan. Keep doing it regularly.

He got 23K per month salary in 1992 whereas TCS, Infosys types company pay fresher almost same salary even after 30 years. 😂
This is the private structure 😢
Awesome. Sharan please bring more these kind of interviews 🤝." Money has to work for me" this is the the take away for me and I have been trying for this.

Super genuine person, Karan sir ! So down to earth and having achieved so much in your life !! Kudos to you 🎉
The host is so condescending. Interrupting and letting the guest not even complete!
Splendid episode, This guest is on spot answer great video..!!
Thank you
Nice video👌
The guest speaker has good portfolio I would say for including gilt fund in it. Gilt fund is underrated, but people should have this since it is in their portfolio for security.
Thank you
Nice and inspiring video!!!

Sharan, you have a fantastic editor!
Good one though. And nice advise to youngsters. Saharan pls do make a video on how to handle the upcoming financial crisis in US which is definitely going to impact India.
Make a series who dont have any job & business
completely on stocks , crypto, commodities etc
Few podcast are interesting and this is the one. Must watch
Thank you
Add finance subject...in school.... Our Next generation need this🎉
Agree
They don't want poor people to be rich
Hence they won't add finance in school syllabus
Forgot everything just look at his face how happy he is in life 😊
Lizen to inner compass wow that so cool from Karan ❤❤❤ thanks sharan for hosting karan
Thank you. I truly mean it
You did sharan what we want. keep post like this video's
Absolutely worth watching this video, so sorted and useful.
Sharan I also love the way you speak in reels.....bcoz I watch Finance with Sharan😂😂
Great going Sharan 👍
Time of entering into an industry also matters a lot. Majority of the people who have entered the corporate sector in early 90s got benefitted by the boom of the Indian economy following liberalisation and globalisation.
what a video! what a person!
Thank you
Subscriber since 5k subscriber of you Man👏
Very inspiring story
Thank you
I think interviewing such humble, experienced and successful personas we need little vocal soundness and less aggressive but enthusiastic approach. That way we can extract more from the interviewee :)
Finally I can start watching your videos as you use less sound/music. In Earlier videos it was irritating which cannot let me focus.
Karan sir you beauty, it was a great learning.❤️
Thank you
Sharan is asking whatever question I have in mind at each point, same wavelength bro
Wow, what an advice hats off to the guest. 🙏
Thank you
@@KaranDatta sir, I also want to invest to make my and my kids life secure how to start investing big big question

Sir kindly make a master class on 2nd or 4th Saturday... Being a bank employee, i couldn't adjust my time on 1st or 3rd Saturday 4pm.
Thank you for this wonderful video! I have incurred so much losses trading on my own....I trade well on demo but I think the real market is manipulated.... Can anyone help me out or at least tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Same here, My portfolio has been going down the drain while I try trading,l just don't know what I do wrong
Trading with an expert is the best strategy for newbies and busy investors who have little or no time to monitor trade
I strongly advise you against self trading, it's really dangerous and had brought so many investors down, you need someone with the knowledge and strategies, someone dedicated to the crypto currency market business, and I will strongly recommend expert, Mrs Eva
YOU DON'T NEED TO BE SHOCK BECAUSE I'M ALSO A HUGE BENEFICIARY OF expert MRS EVA
Here in Texas Expert Mrs Eva carries out the both orientation and mentorship
Great Advice- There is a little diya in everyone's mind let it be glowing slowly 😎😎
Yes. That’s true. Always listen to that little flame. It’s the true compass
Absolutely!
I am exactly running 20 years behind..his salary and my salary matches with age.. 😢
Thank you
Superbbb
Keep going
I also love the podcast place, the background. Which place is that?
Not making up to a million before retirement is unfulfilled retirement.!! I'm 54 and my wife is 50 we are both retired with over $7 million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. No longer blaming FED for our misfortunes. Saving and investing lifestyle in the crypto and forex market made it possible for us this early. even now, we earn weekly
@MuhammadRoseJPIf you trade with an expert, you will make a lot of profit in trading such as Bitcoin and other crypto I will recommend expert Mrs. Theresa Walton.
Amazing 🥰 seeing others talking about the good works of Ma'am Theresa, I started my investment with $15,000, and a week later, it has grown to $55,000. This woman!! Absolute intellectual.
I'm a living testimony of the expert Mrs. Theresa Walton she has been trading for me for years I'm a living testimony of the expert Mrs. Theresa Walton. She has been trading for me for years now.
Her success story is everywhere💯
She has been trading for me, her strategies are wonderful and she made me see binary and forex trade from a different dimension. I keep making profits weekly
Remember even though he may not liking his work compensation helped him to achieve financial freedom. What one will do if his heart says do something which may not be financially rewarding.
Most important he comes under top 1% salary bracket not everyone has that kind of salary which is way above expenses and provides saving ample
Which ever interview seen till now, his content revolves around the wealthiness of guest , no core content on what is the mentality of successful people during their struggle
I had to deal with a job loss at the peak of the financial crisis. I thought this talk was more mental strength than anything else.
1 word .. beautiful ..
The words
We come on this planet once.
What is the point of leaving poor and dying rich ❤❤❤ 8:33
Goated words
Yusss
Thank you.
It’s “living poor and dying rich” buddy.
You're doing a good job, Sharan!
One constructive feedback: Try not to use 'like' fillers in most of your sentences, sounds amateurish!
superb..
Nice
I would really like to hear the talk on "Economic impact of Terrorisms on Businesses".
Also I like how he says if you like the job then get the money and enjoy.
Yeah his perspective on things are very refreshing.
@@ruturajyadav5130yes. Why not. But the reverse is also true. If you don’t like it then no point hurting yourself.
@@viveksunil2037thank you
8000rs /month in 1992 is equivalent to >50K today , how many freshers in India get 50K starting salary ? that's the main reason of early financial freedom , early high income and stock option.
@Whatspbelow57 chal nikal
i follow my man finance with sharan🤘
😂❤❤
Love you Sharan❤
Hi Sharan.. this video is very insightful.. thank you.
Can you please enlighten as to where can we park our funds for emergency savings? As FDs also do not give a great interest rate now !!!
Pls seek advice from Sharan’s courses or take advice from the one percent club. Or take advice from an MFD. There are short term fixed income funds that can be used for emergency funds.
Thank you Sir 🙏

Money works for you, how is this possible by just investing in companies or in stocks.
I was hoping it would be longer 😢
Oh yes. That would be fun but the edits are very good
10k for just selling computers in '92 thats insane like if we take inflation in account it will be roughly 70k inr today dammnnnnn
i see some SWE earning that
His job at Franklin turned it around..how did that actually happen?
Super helpful one👍
Thank you
What I saw and experienced reaching a salary of 80 to 90 lakhs per anum is easy in 2023 by the time you are 30-35 years .. but what I am wondering what to do to make it big ... you have to be at right place to grab that right opportunity to make it big
His luck also played a good role...not everyone is so much lucky
One will live the best possible life ...if one understands....its enough
Considering 24L per annum in year 2000 is equivalent to 96L/annum package of current year taking inflation into consideration mind that!
My father bought a commercial property for 25lakhs in 2000yr now it is giving 1.5lakh rent and it is 4.5cr worth now ...
Full episode????
If you earn well there is no better place than india, everything is cheap here compared to world
