- This Sky Lantern festival occurred on November 20th, 2010 just north of Chiang Mai, Thailand at Mae Jo University. Flying lanterns sure are beautiful and amazing!
OMG that is so beautiful, I just graduated high school and because of this video I decided to order my own floating lanterns and we set them up at my graduation party and made a whole video out of it; it is such an amazing site
Are you still alive?
So beautifull. Gonna visit thailand one day and do this.
You can do this wherever you are, just order them. It's just not so good for the environment
i know but i want to do this in thailand lol
and yes i am aware of this.
I did this at Krabi 4 weeks ago, it is so beautiful to watch them float away, most popular beaches in Thailand have them for sale on any night now.
JUST LIKE TANGLED!
So pretty!
I want to do that!
Tangle brought me here
I see the light :D
;)
@Yue Jin
Good point! 👍🏻😉
And at last I see the light~
And it's like the fog has lifted~
Yeah, I think Chiang Mai will have to be my next international teaching destination, this place seems SO cool!
I saw four that crashed, seems dangerous.
Yes it is. There's several news about those lanterns crashed, drop down to some random unlucky house then burned that house.
The fire stop first and then the Lenten is come down. It's not danger
I want to cry just looking at this...it's so beautiful, my god, what I'd give to experience this one moment.
And at last I see the light! X')
Module Brought me here 😅🔥🤘
YESSSS HAHAHAH
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Amazing
Next to Songkran, Loy Krathong is my favorite. I miss home so much. This is so beautiful.
reminds me of Tangled...
AND AT LAST I SEE THE LIIIIIIIGHT...
XD
This video, with the volume turned down and the song row by Jon Brion turned up = magic
Wow, that was beautiful!
omfg i absolutely love these. ive been planning to do this at night on my wedding day at the end of my reception since i was like 13 loool
omg.. it's so pretty to the point where i cried. WAHHHH
i've done this before but only one of them, its a lot of fun and one of my wishes on the lantern actually came true :3
Oh my god, that´s so beautiful.
Beautiful video.
@MiSSloveish It's safe as long as there aren't a bunch of trees or houses around. You'll want to release them on a night with very still winds, as well.
Wow! That makes our flying lanterns that we did last year pale in comparison. But it's fun to do at any rate.
Attending such an event is in my 'things to do before i die' list
This was awesome. Can't wait to be apart of this
Wow. That is awe-inspiring and beautiful.
And At Last I see the light!!!!
rain forests ey? you are brilliant sir, BRILLIANT
So beautiful 😍 I wish someone taught me how to make one
I love how it will land somewhere and start a massive fire xD
Omg, was Tangled inspired by this? :)
Beautiful!
This reminds me of Tangled :D, LOL, anyway, WOW, they sure look very cool :D
I wanna witness this event -hopefully this year 2012 :-) Charming!
I love how like five of them catch on fire and come down on the people. SO SAFE!

breath taking, just don't mind the blazed ones falling back towards us.
AND AT LAST TIME I SEE THE LIGHTTTTTT

@TheBerryLemonade in our physics class we made lanterns and it was very colourful but i think only 8 flew cuz others were burned
That is soooo BEAUTIFUL! :D

My cousin had loads of these at his wedding. The next day the newspaper had an article about strange lights appearing and aliens. It was funny.

really i find these elemetary at best.my hot air balloons have a time release payload of usually a strobe firework which is of the safe and sane bunch.it gets so high and then lights the strobe ,breaking free and falling back down out before it hits earth.beam me up scotty! i call the bag on fire falling back down the re-enter burn out before its back to earth
This is the most awesome festival ever! What's the story behind it? Anyone know?
It's a festival done every year for the Goddess Phra Mae Thorani
On UA-cam there's longer videos on it and more footage
I posted a lantern festival vlog bc u inspired me!♥
pretty but the drop lampion can it be dangerous to other ? can it causes a house burned?
Thailand is the best country
I think this practice would really make "Smokey" the bear very very angry... GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Beavis and Butthead would love it though... "Fire!.. Fire!!.. Fire!!!!" heh heh heh...
People usually eat sweet dumplings on the Lantern Festival.
ahhh i wannna attend this festival
Hi, this year I'm going to visit Thailand in November. I found out that this year Loy Kratong Festival takes place on 7th Nov. However, I'm not sure in which city I'll be then. So I have a silly question :)
Do you know if this Floating Lanterns Festival is only in Chiang Mai or it's also possible to experience this beautiful moment e.g. In Phuket?
Unfortunately 7th of November is my almost last day in Thailand, so I would like to spend it in South of Thailand:)
Please, can you give my some tips?
Wow, cool but some of those burnt up and landed on top of people, that's totally safe right?
What happens when they fall back to the ground as a large, flaming bag? Do people get burned badly? That's what it looks like.
Hey, if you guys notice, near the end, there were a couple that caught on fire and fell back down to earth
but still, this is so beautiful for my wedding, I want to do something like this
@silentbwoy Midnight, I believe.
Thailand
Very Beautyful
happy loy kraton
@richd506 It is considered good luck to release a sky lantern, and many Thais believe they are symbolic of problems and worries floating away. In recent times, it has become so popular with all Thai people that it has become an integrated in to the festivals in the rest of country.
My dad and i are going to do something different on the 4th Of July party. We are going to launch flying lanterns into the sky.
WHO STOPPED FILMING AND WHY? That was epic!
magnificent!
I want to attend this event at Mae Jo but there's a website saying tourists have to pay $100 to enter the grounds! Is that true? Did you pay anything? Or just get there early?
Hi Guys!
Is there any tutorial for a demo to show how the flying lanterns are made?
Thanks
This is gorgeous :]
But question...where does it go? :O
Must be a lot of litter when they finally come down..
In other news, numerous random fires broke out all over Thailand. Officials are still stumped as to the cause. More on this as it develops...
That's not music. That's the prayer, because in lanna-thai, floating lanterns in Yi Peng festival was the symbol to show our respect to our Buddha.
Of course I'm almost entirely joking around, but you hear of the clearing and burning of the rain forests all the time, so I just threw that in for laughs.
There might be dry spells where a rain forest might burn while standing, but, who knows!
Loy Krathong In late November
its so cool!!!!
its my drem to see them
Where can I buy online those lanterns...exactly this model? Its cool...
Omg solo beautiful
Where is that top comment about tangled? :/
awesome!!
It is an amazing event I had the chance to live last year. If you need practical information to participate next year, have a look here: www.thailandee.com/blog/en/index.php/929-i-tested-yi-peng-festival-in-chiang-mai
0:20 - who sees the lantern that caught fire go into the crowd and hear a girl scream?
