    Here’s a little over share
    I’m a Marine
I went to Iraq and had to do a lot of bad shit
I came home and really struggled to assimilate
I was always a jackass fan but a buddy of mine got me the book professional idiot
The shit in that book about addiction, recovery and the battle that comes with it resonated so heavily that I actually started getting help. I went to rehab, therapy, and AA. I even went and met Steve-O at a convention.
Thank you Steve-0 you’re my hero DUDE.

So not only did you willingly serve your country which I think 95% of people would never do, but you’ve also grappled with addiction and mental health (which is something I have experienced and wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy), and you’re STILL fighting?
I’m sorry bro but I think YOU’RE the hero here. And there are a LOT of others like you. Even with all of the crazy shit I’ve been through I hear stories like yours and it just inspires me to complain less in my life. I hope you’re doing well and I hope you have a good life, clearly you deserve it.

I HAVE to sleep with a heater - ever since I was 12 I’ll be 36 next month (December) and sometimes they break down when they get old and get SUPER HOT! Last year was the worst year for burns for me .. BOTH my legs looked like Steve Os arms here - I had to tape and bandage them up for 2-3 months before they healed up … I’m NOT a Doctor (so this is NOT medical advice) but popping the blisters make them heal wayyy FASTER … over the last almost 25 years - I’ve had burns all over my body, and that’s the best/fastest way I’ve learned to heal up is to pop them and then they turn to scabs - then a lot of neospirin will shave even more days off - but being burnt/having burns is not fun at all- I feel really bad for Steve O here

For me, it was 4 months in the burn unit, 27 days induced coma, 4 cadaver grafts, 2 my skin grafts, a weird reaction to some blood in a transfusion resulting in cardiac arrest, bilateral collapsed lungs, broken sternum from CPR, and lost about 40 hours of tattoo work.
You mentioned a potato peeler for the skin. My 2nd own graft was the skin on the tops of my thighs, from knee to hip, and the tool they use looks and functions exactly like a cheese cutter. 🤙🏽

I'm glad you survived it, Steve-O, some folks would compromise their immune system with stress-cortisol, catch an infection, get further stressed out, and die. As for the nurses, if they didn't hand off to one another, they wouldn't know your medical history. To them, they all thought "well, this is base line" not "oh shit, it's getting worse and worse". When nurses change shift in ER and ICU, a big part of that is the charting hand-off so they can know the course of care and the current status of the patient, and they can compare over time. Different nurses would only be able to handle what they see immediately in front of them.

Buuuuuut the moment he went to a hospital they freaked out and asked him wtf he'd been doing for 5 days-- that means it was immediately noticeable that his burns were bad enough to justify emergency care. Seems like a medical professional should know what category a burn falls under and what kind of treatment is needed, regardless of whether they see it getting worse and worse. I'm a laymen, and even my first thought was, "Damn, he needs emergency medical care." 🤷‍♀

    • @jansenart0
      @jansenart0 Рік тому +10

@@morissaduke3165 Home care nurses all the time see people who ought to be in a hospital, that's kind of their purpose. And having worked in an ER, "emergency care" is an extremely vast gradient of responses. If I had responded to the call, I would've said that circumferential burns (all the way around a body part) need more than a bandage change. Were they negligent? They did what was in their scope of care, which was a one-day visit, changing a bandage, in the dim light of a hotel room.
So, yeah, what happened wasn't okay, they definitely should have said "hospital", but I could understand why it might happen.

This is probably the one scenario I would say tops my story. Had a MRSA infection in my left pointer finger that I didn't get treated for about 3 weeks. The last 3 days I called out of work, couldn't sleep, literally just curled up holding my arm. It got so bad that it fully dislocated the knuckle closest to my hand and after the doctor lanced it and removed the puss you could see both ends of the bone at the joint. It destroyed part of the cartilage and was trying to work its way into the bone. The pain was so intense I could feel it in my collarbone. Its been 6 years and I still cannot bend that finger even to 90 degrees, that knuckle is permanently deformed, and it still hurts in freezing temps. 3rd degree burns on my right arm and road rash that removed 40 percent of the skin on my left leg felt like bee stings compared to that infection

I know it might take a while to get to a point where you might think “Hey, this is an issue” but goddamn, if your infection was anything like what google showed me, my man you’ve got no sense of self preservation lol. I think a good rule of thumb to hold towards any kind of injury is: if the area around the cut is red and hot for a prolonged period of time, get it checked as soon as possible. If it produces pus for a while, too. Those are both signs of bacterial infections as far as I know, and bacteria can be fucking nasty when not taken care of properly. If a bacterial infection spreads to your blood, buddy, you’re fucked

@@Erick-tv8oq At the time I was working 50+ hours a week cleaning cars and changing oil at a car wash. All with no benefits for $8/hour just to barely keep up with bills and stay fed. For some reason I would end up with small minor infections in my hands. I chalked it up to constant contact with all sorts of chemicals, particularly a reaction to silicone based tire shines. This one was minor for about 2 weeks, then in the last 4 days before seeing the doctor it just exploded. The car wash I worked at service primarily hospital staff. Apparently a percentage of the population actually carry MRSA. MRSA is more common in hospitals due to the number of people and other factors like constant cleaning and being in a environment trying to combat it and its predecessor staph. I actually quit the job because I ended up with 2 more MRSA infections. One in my left pinky finger on the side of my finger nail and the other in my left ring finger middle knuckle. The one i originally described was far worse for the pain but the ring finger one still hurts regularly even when its not cold. The whole situation was a blessing in disguise because I ended up find a job making $15/hour with health benefits which led me to save and move away from that shit little town.

honestly i’m not surprised that his worst injury was a burn injury, i got 2nd degree burns from the sun a few days ago and when i woke up that morning my shoulders were COVERED in little blisters and they still are, the discomfort and pain from the burn and blisters was excruciating, but now it isn’t as bad because i’ve been healing more as the days went by, not to mention I didn’t get any medical treatment and kinda just rode with it kinda like steve-o, so whenever you plan on going outside in the blazing heat, bring sunblock whether it be in the form of cream or spray, just wear it

    Stay in good health Steve-O

Just watched you on hot ones again. it absolutely blows my mind that even when you’re not with your friends you work with on jackass, you STILL try to think of something absolutely crazy to harm yourself anyway. CRAZY LOL so much love tho!

Last year I went to the Bucket list tour and I still have the biggest smile every time I think about it. It was an awesome experience, if your a fan of Steve-O and you are lucky enough to have him coming through your area I can't stress enough that YOU NEED TO BUY A TICKET!!! I drove around 3 hours to attend the show and it was worth it, to say it was crazy is an understatement and he isn't joking with he says Jackass would NEVER allow the things you get to see in the show. I can't recommend The Bucket List Tour enough!

I don't really know how to explain without ruining it. The best way I can explain it is that its stuff that was way too crazy to be allowed in the movies

Honestly, these videos are so well made dude. Like at 4:24 the clip of you in the bed, it’s like Steve o in the hospital is reacting to what Steve o on stage just said and going like “yeah I know”. They’re pretty great keep going Steve O!

those dudes you called up on social media....they were not nurses, a real nurse would have been like "Why did you call me? Hospital. Now!"

I’m happy to see Steve-O genuinely doing well. I mean truly doing well, being happy with his life, family and friends and being safe and healthy. We didn’t love Steve-O because of what he did, we’ve always loved him for who he was.
