After having been using Soundswitch and ShowExpress, as a solo mobile DJ, I felt that both had shortcomings. After researching some more, I came across your Wolfmix, videos, and jumped right in. Having gotten used to it, I can never look back. Thank you for introducing me to this fabulous standalone DMX controller! Keep the vids coming. We're watching and learning from the master!
@@gaffle-411 I personally found it hard to program, and its main attraction was pulsing or flashing to the beats, which I have now come to realize is not as important as a coordinated light show that is easy to program. The wolfmix presets once programed are all I need to achieve this Plus there’s no monthly subscription or need to connect to wifi to authorize use. Yes, it’s more expensive, but it’s saving me ALOT of time with its ease of use and programming. I hope this helps.
its super limited imho, and geared mainly off of bpm which is not really how lighting shoudl be done in my opinion. this controller far surpasses it especially if you are looking to use moving fixtures, or anything beyond simple uplights. @@gaffle-411
Killer video! I am still learning my WMX1... this makes it a bit easier conceptually. I've been a musician forever and lighting has always stumped me. This piece of gear and your videos are bringing me to where I can serve my clients more completely!
I’m just getting started with this unit and your video was super helpful with how to keep things organized and tidy. Are you also using the WMX1 to control cold spark and cryo?
Another great vid Jason. You gave me some new inspiration on a few changes I could do on my WMX1! Thanks. My DJ partner (Separate company, but work on quite a few shows together 15-20 per year) purchased 10 moving heads and both have the WMX1. We program them the same so it doesn't matter if I'm working with him, or he is working with me, the programs are all the same. WMX1 makes that easy! Thanks for all you do for the industry! It is truly appreciated!
@@Jason_Jani I find value in every video of yours I watch! I’ve been in the game 3…. A long time. But I know I can always learn something new or how to improve something. When I watch your videos I’m always thinking “How can I apply this to me/my company.” Thank you for all you do for the industry!
Hey Jason! Great video! I'd love to learn how you are using your Asteras with the Wolfmix. I use Astera Lighting but just use the Art-7 with the app. I'd love to learn how to use them with DMX. Any chance for a video or explanation on that? Thanks a million!!
Awesome Video Jason! How do you get two movers (Say one on each side of the dance floor) to mimic one another, but instead of both moving to the right, they both move towards center of dance floor or throw wash light in the same direction?
Just got a wolfy and I'm pumped to release it into the wild. Started with Chauvet Show express, then got a soundswitch and now this. Those lights you have at 2:09 look absolutley fantastic. Best I've seen in the yet, I'll be around, you're a G! I really like how you have everything on a mobile unit, thats genius. Can you reccomend a gobo for the Focus Spot Three Z Pearl? One of mine has a slide that says like "Happy New Year 2019" fortunatley nobody has seen it but me haha
Jason, which movers are you using? Are there two different types of color changing movers? Most of the movers I have seen you can see the color wheel scrolling through, although yours seem to be color mixing? Thanks for the video!
Hey man, thanks so much for your video. So I’m looking for a new light show designing interface and strongly looking at this model. I’m seeing several comments saying that this controller is inefficient and challenging with regard to programming moving heads - what are your thoughts on that? Thanks a ton for your time!!
Hello Jason, pretty useful video: thank you. a questin: we are a live band, if I create 6 light "moments" for each song section (intro, verse, chorus, etc.), can we trigger this "chain" with just one MIDI note at the beginning and define the individual changes? (e.g., 00:01 intro - 00:30 verse - 01:45 chorus - 02:30 verse (repeat), etc.) hope make sense :D Thank you in advance for your answers.
I'm considering this. I'm using dmx 3.0 because I ABSOLUTELY could not work with sound switch and it's ok but still isn't especially without it's issues
Thanks for your tips on the Wolfmix Jason ! It would be awesome to have a double view with a second view on your manipulation on the Wolfmix while you explain :-)
Would have been super helpful to see what you were pushing when explaining this. because not sure what you were using for the uplights to stay 1 color. were you in Color or live edit?
@@Jason_Jani I hope my comment did not come off as rude. Just excited about what your doing. Been waiting for someone to talk about how they configured the presets for a bit. By color, by mood, etc... Good stuff.
My question to Jason or anyone who owns this is is there a benefit to upgrading from showxpress? It seems like once you have your program situated it functions the same or is there an added bonus aside not having to use a computer
IT IS LIGHT YEARS BEYOND SHOW EXPRESS... YOU HAVE THE SAME IF NOT MORE CONTROL, AND EASILY CAN EDIT YOUR SHOWS WHILE THEY ARE RUNNING SO YOU CAN SHIFT THE WAY THINGS ARE WORKING.
Great video! Can you tell me, which Moving Heads you are using so that you can get smooth colour fades? Colour wheels change always looks a little "abrupt".
Do you know if it would be possible to use two wireless dmx transmitters, one connected to soundswitch for the scripted tracks, and when I want to go manual, use a 2nd wireless transmitter on the wmx1 to override soundswitch and take over with wmx1 ?
Thanks for the video, brother! I have been using mydmx GO for a while. It has a lot of bugs and doesn't utilize all 512 DMX ch out of the box I have several different lighting brands, including chauvet, Rockville, Shehds, and Both lights. Does it pretty much have most every fixture brand your going to see in it?
It has tons of brands, but the Best thing is that you can do your own fixture and its super easy to make. There are some videos which shows you how yo make those. It just take you few minutes (depending hoe many channels)
Can you control the master dimmer? Loads of programs but then the room itself might be bright/dark so you need to adjust the dimmer overall. Group lock?
But can it work with Chauvet lights? And refresh on how to set the channels on the lights. How did you program the shows and assign the number of lights.
That's 2100 watts of spots alone. Your venues will have to provide several power drops for everything. I would imagine you do some really nice venues though.
