Watch Michael Jackson performing his number one hit "Billie Jean" live at the Yokohama Stadium in Yokohama, Japan during the Asian First Leg on September 27, 1987 as part of the Bad World Tour to a sold-out attendance of approximately 48,000. AI Remastered and Upscaled with Color Corrections.
I haven't done any much remasters or enhancements from the concerts that took place during the Bad World Tour so I thought to myself to why not give it a shot? I decided to work on Yokohama 1987 which is arguably one of the few concerts from the Bad World Tour that we have in really high quality. I decided to pick it since it doesn't really have any copyright issues that will block it in some countries, and its in pretty decent quality so I picked to work on it. For now I simply just did a comparison between my enhanced version of an HQ Quality version and the original rip straight off from the "Michael Jackson Live in Japan" VHS. I may upload my enhanced version soon alone in fullscreen 16:9 ratio so don't worry.
I was able to easily get a source of the original VHS rip from UA-cam and for a 1987 recording its quality isn't that bad, especially when compared to the qualities of the concert recordings from Osaka, and Tokyo. I found it quite easy to work on Yokohama considering it already has numerous HQ sources available on the internet. I just had to fix minor issues in the video footage, most notably contrast, brightness and saturation adjustments. I also tried my best to remove most of the noise in the footage since they were pretty annoying to have them there. The tint has also been adjusted, and I aimed to remove the odd pink/purple like tint that was present in most parts of the footage, similar to what the Bremen '92 and Copenhagen '92 footages had. I also adjusted the hue to give his skin color a more natural look, also fixed the pixel disruption at most parts, and denoised the entire footage in hopes to get a clearer and sharper look.
The audio however did not really need much enhancements in my opinion. I just slightly fiddled with the bass and treble of the audio and EQ compressed it using Dolby, making the loud and quiet parts closer together in volume. I also gave it a very slight crystallization increase to expand the audios dynamic range. A slight touch of reverb has also been added using Audacity. I also slightly increased the audios volume from 1.00 to 1.50 just to give it a more lively and impactful feel. Overall I simply just adjusted it slightly to meet my personal preferences, and none much changes were done.

Legends say that Michael kicked the *"Billy Jean"* text at 0:12 because of how it was misspelled.. 😂
Lmaooo yeah! Seems like it hahaha
@@themoonwalkerproject2609 🤣
LOLLL
Just imagine if that is actually the exact reason why he kicked it LMFAO

@@VictoriaVicky And look who decided to reply 😳 Regarding the performance that's good to hear, also go on Discord qt
@@KDEsler nuuu I can't go on discord yet, im not at home at the moment... i still have another performance to complete ;;-;;
Epik! BTW one of my friend's relatives was there, they used a pinkish light as a spotlight, thus I think it's impossible to remove that hue, and I personally like it. And sweat hasn't looked more beautiful ever has it?
Oh is that so? I mean technically speaking a pinkish spotlight would be less glary or bright for the performer, and won't bother him as much when compared to a solid pure white spotlight so maybe that is why they slightly tinted it. Thought it looked somehow unnatural but if that's the case then that's absolutely fine!
And yep agreed, Michael's sweat looked *epic* in this performance. You could really tell he gave it all out on this one 👌
@@KDEsler Yeah, but still it was like the baby pink color, would be very sharp as well, not as much as white but still. Well at least I like the pinkish hue and no doubt I like the same hue in Copenhagen and Bremen as well. But I think the pink light used in HWT was less sharp than these 2 tours.
left video is much nicer ✨
Definitely without a doubt it is
Another awesome restored version
Thank you!! ❤️
also why are the text in the beginning spelled as "billy jean" instead of "billie jean"?
Japanese people
Yeah regarding that, it's probably because they were Japanese and didn't know how to spell "Billie Jean" correctly at the time, or it could've also been a typo, who knows
ohhh i see i see
@@VictoriaVicky Yes
Left one looks cool asf
Agreed, I'm very pleased of how it turned out 👌
looks good man! nice job, I've always wondered if they used a pink spotlight and by the comments it seems like it, i thought it was something wrong with the tape 💀
Thank you so much bro! 😄 And yeah back in the day, I also thought that there was a problem with the tape, which gave it that odd pink/purple tint, but I'm guessing it was just a tinted spotlight after all 😂
@@KDEsler yes it seems like it haha

Do you have a link to the original VHS rip?
Yes I indeed do have, here's the link - ua-cam.com/video/gmKGi0HfCVI/v-deo.html
@@KDEsler Oh! its yuichi's VHS, Nice! isnt this video actually by Happylee, or did you do it all to the video on the left?
@@antonharboe_5668 Yep the video on the left is from Happy Lee's source, and I slightly modified it and corrected little minor issues from the video itself to suit my personal preferences, most notably contrast, hue, and saturation adjustments. Also ran the video again through Topaz Video Enhance AI to get rid of the lossy decompression that was caused by the downloading
@@KDEsler ok, Thanks!
