I bought an x-caliber 9 and it’s just gorgeous, it’s very easy to pedal, you pick up speed without effort, you can go up any hill with less effort, compared to my cheap bike it’s heaven and earth, you get real pleasure from riding on this bike .

I went with the Xcal. Not a fan of carbon for where I ride at least. I've had 3 carbon bikes. All 3 cracked and this Xcal is cheaper and more durable when it comes to cracking. Best part imo, Xcal is recyclable! :)
I do like carbon frames for the light weight, but I feel like carbon is better on boats and such. Too many stress points on bicycles and of course from personal experience. Could be that the frames were made with cheaper carbon. Idk. Xcal isn't that much heavier and also (just for me) I find the Xcal 9 more versatile and useful due to the fact that it's my only form of transportation (epilepsy).... I like the kickstand option and little rack mounts I think come on this bike. Not sure. I usually use backpack anyway. A very nice upgrade from 2019 Marlin 7.

@JB-mo8rs Doubtful that any of the 3 carbon bikes was a reputable brand (Taiwanese) as opposed to disreputable brand made in the PRC.

The X-Caliber 9 is a good value. Some don’t like the boost 141 but we have had one for years and have experienced no rear frame flex or rotor rub. Equally, I have owned a MTB with press fit BB and never experienced creaking but I do prefer the ease of maintenance of a threaded BB. These two bikes are for for two different kinds of people. There’s no wrong way to go unless you have unrealistic expectations. If your emphasis is on racing, Procaliber. If you want a versatile bike that you can race or prefer metal, X-Caliber. To me, the Judy fork would have to be replaced and that’s an expensive upgrade. But a Fox Stepcast would make that bike right! Upgrade the wheels, tires, and go with a cheap carbon seatpost and you are race ready for the same budget as the Procaliber and with similar weight.

Excellent analysis. Very useful for making purchasing decisions. Maybe my only question is, why do you say the carbon fiber frame is stiffer? Aluminum is supposed to have less degradation over time. And carbon is much more delicate to resist shocks, for example.

The X-Caliber would be a perfect entry mtb. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if the rear end gets updated to a thru axel.

Would take the cheaper bike because of the better groupset. Carbon frames with pressfit BB are notorious for squeaky noises over time..never had it myself, but I def don't want to spend 400-700 usd more and end up with stupid problems. I like riding equipment that has been proven to be reliable over many years. Just try fixing a hydraulic brake on the go, or breaking a chain while accelerating cause they used a quicklink, or going through the pedal after a jump..stuff I rather not deal with

i may choose the X Caliber 9 instead of the Pro Caliber 9.5. the Pcal components are all not better than that of the Xcal except the frame. if you change the brakes of the Xcal, you can make a super bike with very good performance.

I own the Xcal 9, I went with it for the versatility, I race with it but the dropper post and wider tubeless setup with a high end fork make the Xcal a good trail hardtail as well, I highly recommend it. Also to get the same part spec on a Procal you would need to spend 3k U.S. for the Procal 9.6, I don't think you could go wrong with either one both are a great option. 👍

Went with the ProCaliber9.5 in Small for the wife. The XCal in Small had the 27.5 wheels which was a turnoff for me. Also, the QR rear in XCal was an annoyance to me. Much rather have the Thru Axle front and rear and there just seem to be so many more options at 29" on both wheels and tires.

Nice looking bike but poor quality control or poor transport.Rear wheel has major issues right out of the box. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Rear axle is bent! Derailleur is misaligned.Since the rear wheel comes assembled I would have expected better.Assembly instructions poorly written, but that was not unexpected...just annoying.I just had the bike checked at a shop and was told that I should contact the seller about getting a whole rear wheel assembly with cartridge. (The bike shop could not do anything to help me).Not a good experience with this bike, so lesson learned.Added 3 stars for excellent customer serviceUpdate Sept 8 2020Just received a complete replacement wheel for free. Great service and an otherwise fine bike.
