Hey Brother, listening to you talk about coaching those kids and Mr. Tate's comment about finding your way was very moving. I got a little misty eyed. Wow. Keep up the good work.

Kids make life worthwhile. People that think kids ruin your life will look back one day and realize what they missed out on. There's nothing better than watching a kid get what you're trying to teach them. Seeing that switch flip to the on position. That lighbulb going off and the smile that proceeds it. Some of my fondest memories before I had my own children was teaching kids archery at a Boy Scout camp. There was one kid that came during the camp's "inner-city week" (this was a week with a lot of fighting, vandalism, etc. and it required them bringing in extra staff and security because things could get violent in a hurry) that changed my entire outlook on life and he doesn't even know it. He had a desire to better himself and get out of the place he called home. He loved archery. Watching that kid hang onto my every word and seeing him intently watching when I was instructing and then seeing him go from someone that had never picked up a bow before to becoming a magnificent archer within a week was life changing. Hearing him describe what home life was like was terrifying. I think about him every day and hope he didn't succumb to the street life and wish he could know now just how much he changed my life at the time. He made me realize as a young 19-year-old that the shit I thought was important at the time wasn't and that if he could have a positive outlook on life then damn it I should too. I still feel honored to have taught someone that had such a fabulous way of looking at life at such a young age. I wish our government would do more to actually help people instead of throwing a few crumbs now and then because some truly brilliant minds reside in the inner-cities that never get to realize their potential.

Without a doubt your best video yet Joey! I loved it. Loved the behind the scenes-feel and it felt more like I was watching my gym buddy more than some random youtouber. I loved it, thank you!

Good stuff Joey. I have lost my way multiple times in life. My sole source of redemption was discovering teaching and coaching. My students rekindled my drive to succeed and to be a positive role model for others. You're doing great things Coach.

I also got emotional about it. I just came from my grandma's house and I found that I can aliviete hers knee pain with training. That put me in a state where now I know I really enjoy helping others. I'm so happy that youve found that too Joey

I found you trough Juji. so been a fan for awhile. I may be wrong but it seems you overthink things. You dont have to turn on your "camera persona" just be you. We live in a time where REAL is a rare thing and your "real thing" is all the world need. keep the good work in your heart and you will win in life. Love from Danmark the land of vikings :)

I'm pretty real all the time, who you see on camera is who you get off camera maybe just a tad more laid back but this is pretty much me all the time. I definitely agree I over think things, but I'm never fake =]

Hey Joey, this was a great video. Production quality and length was perfect. I think Dave's right, you've obviously found something that has reignited a fire, in your Lacrosse coaching. At their age, you will never realise how much of an impact you are having on them for the rest of their lives. I'm almost 30 and still have teachers from when I was 13 that I talk about with absolute respect. You will no doubt be talked about in 20 years by those kids.
And in terms of your place in strongman and competing, I (perhaps naively) think that as long as you always maintain a baseline strength of sorts (for you probably a 240kg/150kg/260kg squat bench dead) you're never gonna be more than 6 months away from doing well in a mid-level strongman comp. That's not a bad place to be considering all the other endeavours you've got going.
    Apologies for long comment!

Dave Tate has such a way with words he's incredible. Every word he says carries so much weight.
I'm really glad a good guy like Joey had the chance to connect with such an amazing person.
