Watching this video in 2020 and it's a little unsettling how "Serious" you are in these older videos. xD I'm so glad you let your full personality out on your channel now.
That is exactly what I was thinking! Very mellow.
Bobby Duke Arts is the same way.
2021 and i agree!!!
Watching in 2021.
Watching on 2021 and a week from 2022 and I also agree
You're one of the most genuinely likable people on UA-cam. Never change, bro.
Couldn't have said it better. He's also very through in explaining the little details in making a lid
So true, he has such a great personality and is really fun to watch even or especially when he waffles on.
Very true. I’ve never turned wood in my life and sadly may never get the chance to try. But I love working with resin and his personality has kept me coming back for years and watching every video at least once.
I love your waffle 🧇 I watched one of your zero waffle videos and I though, "this isn't right, where's Nick!?". Yes, your work is stunning, but it's you that makes the channel 💜
I agree!!
"if you wanna be professional..use one of these...gauge-thingamajiggys"
haha my kind of professional XD
Nick, I love this creation because it's so you. Great wood turning with splashes of color pencils. It would be an real treasure for me and I'm sure for many others as well as. I'd cherish the box.🇺🇲♥️
Love the pencil pot. Waffle all you want because I love listening to your accent.
Nick you Rock! Watching you has gotten me through the Horrible year of 2020. You are so funny and talented. Makes me want to get back up and fighting. Keep up the awesome work. This world needs more people like you.🤗🙃🤗🙃😊
I think the black makes the pot look more elegant. The pencil makes it more festive and fun. I love the mix, of wood it is unique. Answer: make another pot and use both.
Nick I’ve just come across your videos and thought what a genuine bloke you are because you admitted to your mistakes to your viewers rather than editing them out so thanks for making really great videos
I love the waffling that you do. Never change.
That came out beautiful! I love that Shellawax! I completely enjoy watching you work. You make some amazing stuff. Pencil projects are a favorite. 🎺❤️🎺❤️🎺❤️🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺❤️
I like the black finial. You are full of talent! STAY ARTY! 🌹
Look at that board! It is empty! It is amazing to see your transformation over the years!
Please keep waffling on, as you are a fantastic person. All the best to you and your family from me and my five furbabies.
As a retired teacher, would I have loved to have this on my desk. 🇺🇸
Thank you Nick for this lesson on "Pensile Pots" it's a beautiful piece for anyone!
I pray you and and your family are doing well during this strange world of events going on around us! God Bless!
Nick I'm so glad explained the wood at the end, I couldn't figure out how one piece of wood cut in half had two totally different colors.
Also I think it might be a great idea to get a round mold, cut the pencils a little shorter and lay them kind of like a fan, ✳️ but more compacted, maybe a small piece of wood in the center.
Ohhh, that's what waffle means. I thought you were always talking about breakfast. I love when you waffle on. That's half the reason I watch.
Nick, there are plenty of channels I follow where I'm watching purely to gain information on creating things. Your channel, in my opinion, is so exciting because not only do I want to watch for the information you impart, but your character and enthusiasm - your fantastic attitude and communication style (including waffling on!!) - are PART of what makes your videos so enjoyable. While I hesitate to say, "Never apologise for who you are!" or "Never change!" as I know it isn't as simple as all that, I hope any comments that could come across as negative about your communication style just bounce off as select viewers' personal preference and not as an indication of the quality or enjoyability of your content. You're brilliant and we love ya!
Also, I see this video is from 2017, so I'm a bit late to the game. Can you tell I'm on a bit of a binge watch? Haha. I enjoy watching creative content while I'm working on my own projects at my workbench. :)
Just working my way through your stuff.....Legend is your still talking..lol....great channel
I enjoy watching your videos, don't let bad comments mess with your confidence. The people making them obviously liked your videos enough to subscribe in the first place.
Yes, the black wood finial is so sophisticated. 🇺🇸🎺
I agree with Emily, I like his newer videos with his fun personality.
I like the usual videos and I like your "waffle on" type updates either in the video or solo. it's part of the charm of the channel! thanks for the lovely entertainment :)
OMGEEAWESOME hey thank you . That's nice to hear . I very pleased you like it . Have a great weekend. 👍🏽
OMGEEAWESOME
I agree!
I work at home as an accounting software designer/analyst. The main people I talk with are programmers...who are not known for waffling... or talking much at all 😕. So my conversations are a bit one sided.
Nick's waffling kinda evens out the ratio of words spoken with words heard. 🤓
haha thanks colleen, hope your well and hope you have a great weekend. all the best
Waffle Wednesdays... What a great Idea, Great content love the channel A true inspiration to watch. Keep up the good work
I like the two types of wood! The pencil finial is really nice, but the black one really stands out. Nice job!
This just showed up on my UA-cam recommended videos... Mate! I am glad i watched it! You're right, matching coloured wood on top and base would look better... but that being said, the product you turned out was still absolute stunning 👌👌
And that is the most beautiful red wood I've ever seen
Thank you.your vids are always fun and amazing to watch.stay cool stay safe.always waiting for new vids.
Look how green you was back then and how relaxed you are now big difference keep up the good work
Waffling Wednesday 👍👏👌
Mike Wright haha great name for it 👍🏽✌🏽
Make waffles, eat waffles and waffle.
I like the spiral tol detail. It's such a minor thing, but makes a big difference! Great job, as always!
This is gorgeous! They should pay you for promoting their products! The work you do looks really difficult. Very nice!
Man...you could waffle on and on and I'd STILL watch...I love how you talk (I'm the one with the accent lol) and what you hafta say. Cheers mate!
That is So Cool !! The way the pencils stretched across the different surfaces 🔥🔥🔥
I especially like the way it shoots like spears across the bottom on the inside
Watching this older video, I agree with some of the older comments, that you were so serious in this one... I like the goofy you that has come out in newer videos. But the way I see it, you do what makes you happy, if people watch, they watch. If they don't want to, that's their problem. I find you funny and fascinating. I like to make things, not so much out of wood, but other things, and I just enjoy putting on your videos and listening to you waffle on. I love that phrase (I'm from america lol). But to answer your 6 year old question, I agree the pencil finial looks better just because it stood out from the darker purple wood, which is absolutely beautiful! Would like to see more projects with that wood used. Keep up the great content, being you. 🥰
I do enjoy watching you create pieces using both resins and wood. Brilliant design and style, uniquely Nick Z. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I could never be fast enough to order those beautiful pencil wood products!
Keep calm and waffle on....would love a coffee mug with this on it!! ♥️
I LOVE YOUR CREATIONS with either PENNIES ,PENCILS, FEATHERS ,CRAYONS YOU HAVE A VERY CREATIVE & ARTISTIC MIND I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS THEY ARE VERY ENTERTAINING AND INTERESTING AND EDUCATIONAL
AND FUNNY TOO THANKS AGAIN BE SAFE. BE HAPPY
& WAFFEL ON
Hi Nick I enjoyed watching you creating this amazing pencil pot. So i will watch some more of your videos. Thanks heaps for the enjoyment. 💖💖
My husband and I LOVE your channel and you just keep wafflin on... :)
Carri's Corner hey thank you . I'm very pleased you guys like it . Take care all the best 👍🏽
❤️🌈❤️ Funny you aren’t as crazy in this one as currently. I love the pencil pot. The inside is super cool.
Yay!! The pencil finial won out. I feel so validated right now. Brilliant, fabulous work, Nick.
I have small pots that are made from three different timbers. I love them and the smell of the wood is amazing. ❤😊🙏🇦🇺🐨
No apologies needed ! We love you , waffle and all !!!
I can tell ur older videos from ur newer ones even without checking how old they r .. ur personality so different love ur videos now (😂😂😂) keep on waffling on. Projects r all u very creative and unusual!!
Keep waffling m. U totally cheer me up. U made lockdown bearable. Ur talent is amazing ur sense of humor is fantastic. Just wish I could afford to buy something. But thank u for all the entertainment and inspiration. Dont change
I really like the new you ! The pencil on top of the pencil box. Is best 😍🇺🇸
Dark spindle fits in my opinion and I am impressed by everything you do! I have a super creative carpenter son JUST LIKE YOU!
Good explanation throughout. Question: Did you actually do this Video or was it twin with no personality? Where did Nick go? Edit: I've just realised this Video is 3yrs old. Must have been you testing the youtube waters.
Plastics are made from petroleum products. When you use oil as a release agent it actually bonds with the plastic to some degree. Plastic containers and plastic molds are made with smooth surfaces to avoid anything from sticking to it so it doesn't discolor or cause melting. Glad to help!
Agreed, purple heart + purple heart would have been lovely. Every consider just doing pencils of just certain colors? Like cool colors with purple heart wood. But you'd probably have to stack the pencils height wise to get the best effect.
I honestly don’t see anything wrong about! It’s quite beautiful. As for the top I would go for the crayon. Good job.
I'm one of the new subs. I don't even woodwork, I just find turning videos so soothing.
e11eohe11e welcome to the channel x
watching this in 2023, loooong after your decisions are made, but I agree with the pencil finial for this project. I also agree with your reservation with the mixed top and bottom woods, I think it would have been more balanced with matching woods whether that was walnut or purple heart.
Consider a career in teaching. You are an excellent educator. Thanks for sharing this video. Trusting that you and your family are well as the pandemic continues to evolve. Wishing you Peace, health and happiness. Cheers from NE Ohio, USA.
The pencil finial looks good with the walnut. Purple heart with the black finial
I'm watching this video in 2022 but I agree with a former comment of how serious you were and how much more "you" you are now. Carry on.
My little black heart 🖤 would prefer the black finial atop the purple wood top. But I can see the pencil finial as well. Either one you choose will be a stunning contrast to the wood. 🇺🇲🖤
Q&A videos please Nick!
🙏
(You will probably know by now it's the type of plastic you use.
P5 or P1.)
Pencil finial looks better I think. Keep up the great work.
thanks Tim. all the best
I've seen someone seal the end of the pencils by brushing a CA product on each one. Love your channel 🦋
I know this is a late response but usually I hate watching videos where ppl talk while making. However the way u narrate and question yourself makes it very interesting I like how u let us in on the thought process plus your a funny guy and the random puns crack me up. Waffle on mate waffle on
Just can't get over how gorgeous the purple wood is! I understand why you went with the pencil finial, but I agreed with you that the black one looked great on the purple. I can't see myself ever getting tired of your pencil designs. I just love the color in them!
I've been thinking about how our taste in music reflect our everyday lives. Around ten or twelve years ago, the trend was all for new music. WOOOOOOO!
You are great! Thanks for all your hard work! The stuff you make is beautiful
Great job! Nice recovery! The shorts ok just as long as you talk in the others.
Love the pencil pot!!!
I'm so happy you went with the pencil finial. Specially since you weren't happy with the wood combination. saving the Black finial for something you will love. Just found your channel today and have been binge watching.. Thank you for sharing your talent and personality :-)
I like how you also put stills at the end.
don't know about anyone else but I really enjoyed the fact that you took time to stress the safety aspect of the job. I really would like to see one full length video on just the safety of your projects.
Looks great. I like the black finial.
Nick, have you ever used glass marbles in resin to create a stunning tall 15" lamp base with a diameter of 8"+/- so a puck light or string lights could fill the center. Then pour a larger marble round for the shade?
Casting the shade in a U shape so the top is flat and seamlessly forming a 3" side wall. Very mod!!!
Yes, I like both finials, but the black one looks gives it a richer look one the Redwood beautiful pot anyway!
Its great! I'm sure the disen will be beautiful the way You decide to make it. 🙂
I love to hear you talk and I love the work you’re doing one day I can get my own workshop I miss going to school building for things cheers anything I made my first bowl I was 15 years old in school I’ll never forget that minimum of the big shelf 92 is lies always a 2008 I wish I still had a bookshelf carry on what you do and God bless you and your family keep building and keep talking
Zammeti? You are Italian???
apart this curiosity, I spend my days looking at your videos! You creating things, giving chills😍! we are Italians, a family of carpenters for three generations (wooden furniture and windows). and seeing these things is a pleasure for the eyes! really. many compliments.
He's from New Zealand
Another great video i would watch you make pencil pots all day. Managed to make a pencil pot took hours to turn but happy how it came out. Thanks for inspiring me.
Highlandboxes hey thanks pam . I appreciate it . Have a supper weekend 👍🏽
I would love to see you make a gum ball machine
Oh yes...I like your new Krazy self. Jan 2021. I’d like to buy something.
One of the few individuals I watch on youtube that I would love to meet in person. Love the projects. Everyone of them. Your son Charlie surely seems to be following in your footsteps. Keep up the extraordinary work.
Nick, I always like really all your videos.
I wouldn't mind having one of those pencil pots myself with with walnut top and bottom and Emmett and the pencil finniel.
I love your pencils-everything! I want to learn now.
I paid a lot of money for a round walnut piece of wood on a stand from Heals as a little stand next to the sofa like the blank of wood you showed. I am sure you could make that too Nick. Great vid and outcome thanks 🙏💎
Agreed with both being purple heart. Still very nice.
I just can't get enough of those pencils project nick...brings a smile to my face every time.
Fifi Gazepis hey fifi thank you for your kind comments . It's nice to hear . Take care 👍🏽
I stopped before the end to post my comment, then I’ll see if my choice made it or not. I was choosing the Blackwood because it reminded me of the lead in a pencil typically the black graphite :-)
Pencil finial and yeah same wood top and bottom, nice pot though😊😊👍
Love ur work. Plus ur funny as hell. Keep on doing what u do. Thanks for the entertainment.
I love CA finishes.
The pencil finial carries the pencil theme through the top. Which is fitting. The pot, as a whole -- given the pencil theme -- is quite silly (in a respectful way, of course), and completes the thought of a "pencil pot." The solid finial is, IMHO, too classical. I will now go on to watch the final five minutes and fifteen seconds of the video, to see if you concur.
You're a delightful human being, and I admire your work. Whatever you decide (in the next five minutes and fifteen seconds) will be fine by me. Carry on...
Ooohhhh! Colorful toothpicks set in resin could look amazing!!
I saw dailymail steal your video for facebook, so I made sure to come watch it on youtube to give you the real view. It was awesome so I subbed!
You name it the daily mail will steal it.
The colored pencil finial looks best!
Loving the panoramic cross-section of the pencils.
I LOVE YOU NICK!!!!
It’s different, I like the two tone woods
As always your chatty delivery makes it seem so personal and directed at me. Terrific
