Quick update! Timebolt no longer offers a lifetime license option unfortunately. So you can consider that when choosing between these two!
Interesting, thanks for the showdown, I'm sure I can find a use for these in an upcoming project! Love your videos Dylan, keep it up!
GREAT video Dylan!! 👍
Nicely edited! Great lighting too
Do i need one of them in Davinci Studio?
Dylan any tips on how to transfer your final cut setup (plugins, titles, all things created in motion etc) from one mac to a new one???
I tried a few times, but I find these tools so frustrating. There are always a few mistakes there and there, or big mistakes as a whole sentence deleted that should not.
It feels like to correct these mistakes I'm not saving much time.
Will try again as everyone is saying it is wonderful, but gosh, I have such an hard time xD
Hey thx for the video.I just got GLING and I really like it. Here is just a question I have. The program provides me with an XML file that's compatible with Adobe Premiere. 📁
Here's where I could use some help: How do I sync this already-edited XML file with the high-quality audio I recorded separately and that is not edited yet? 🎤
I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO, THNX!
Thanks for the side-by-side, I want to both edit video based on the transcript (Gling) and remove silences (Timebolt), does one of these do both features?
Technically Gling does! But I have found Timebolt is just better at silence removal.
That said, some other people have mentioned Recut as a good option too! I haven’t tried it, but worth checking out.
@@TheFinalCutBro Thank you! Whoever can get both features in one tool can be lethal
I have Gling's silence removal to be inadequate. does Timebolt do text-based editing? @@TheFinalCutBro
Thanks for this! Do you know if it’s possible to use either Gling or Timebolt to edit multi cam footage in FCP? Also LOVE the hilarious stock footage you selected. :)
Yes! I exclusively use both for multicams. I want to create another tutorial showing that workflow.
But essentially, just bring in the clip that has the best audio. Follow all the regular steps of cutting down your video. Then select Export FCP Multicam XML. Once you open it in FCP, you will need to jump inside of the multicam it created, then synchronize and add your other angles. Then you can get out of the multicam, and change the angle as you need!
If you press Option + 1 / 2 / 3 it will swap out the angle without creating a new cut. If you need to change tons of angles at the same time, you can select all of your shots, then go into the info inspector, then change which angle is selected in the drop down menu.
Hope that helps!
@@TheFinalCutBro That’s a huge help, thanks Dylan! That’s the only thing that’s kept me from looking at these. Hope you make that tutorial, too!
Gling and Timebolt the showdown! Nice walkthrough of both D.
I think you’re the one that turned me onto both of these apps!
Dylan, as always a great video thank you. My initial thoughts are it's useful, but that pricing means that method option will not happen, it's quite specific in its user case. So, whilst it's something I find useful occasionally at that subscription price I've moved on and I think thousands of people like me well, and I wonder if more professional people will do it otherwise or other software. Just my humble opinion.
I think you’re right! While it’s 1,000% useful in my editing workflow because I am making videos that are just simple talking heads. It’s also not quite as useful for maybe someone making narrative stories, or travel videos with no talking at all. It definitely just comes down to what kind of videos you’re making. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Amazon vídeo! Can you compare with Recut? Recut is leds expensive than timebolt. Whats your opinion?
I personally haven’t used recut! It looks great though! My one concern with recut is, at this moment, it doesn’t support Multicams. Which my entire workflow requires. So it wouldn’t work for me.
But the creator of Recut informed me that they are working at that feature right now. So hopefully it’s coming soon!
What doesn't recut do: Actually cut into a timeline (kind of a big deal), PUNCH, copy/paste chapters for UA-cam, multi track audio, FastForward silences, capture, Umcheck)
Now it does supports multi track audio, but no multi-channel@@moxeman
The most appealing part of these assistants is the transcription editing - something Descript had pioneered 3 years ago. Now you get this feature in-built inside Premiere Pro and many other softwares like Izotope RX. I quickly got tired of correcting the editing imperfections of these softwares though, and the main thing I use transcription editing for is quickly searching for a word or phrase in a long recording. That's it. If you're an experienced editor, I guarantee that you'd be faster at manually editing out bad takes and even gaps than going through the song and dance of using these secondary apps.
That's because transcripts are imperfect and not timed down to the word. So yes, you'll end up making a bunch of alterations in a XML file. But TimeBolt uses audio waveforms to detect silences and is why the cuts are perfect at export, every time. Zero chance you can cut a 20 min video down to 10 of just the useful parts faster than I can using TimeBolt. Bet I'd be able to eat lunch and walk the dog too before you got done.
Thanks Dylan! I'm not a native speaker, but consider myself to be bilingual. Gling makes too many mistakes to make it useful for me to be honest.
Which means Gling is crap.
