Thanks for sharing this! People may or may not know, but this poem has gone through three different titles; I think in my book, it's called something else. But it's a poem that means a lot to me, for not-so-linear or easy-to-explain reasons. Excited about the opportunity to share it.
"Love in the time of zombies" is such a badass title. The one on the demo cd is probably my favorite version of this spoken because its so passionately joyous. On this version your voice has a bit more of a wistful heartbroken feeling to it that is also beautiful. I listen to either version depending on how I feel.
Fred Again led me here. My wife and I heard Fred Agains version on Tiny Desk, then I’ve been jamming to the original this morning. My wife asked “did you ever look up the poem”. I stopped working and searched it up, so glad I did. What an amazing poem.
His delivery reminds me of a poet I saw a decade ago. I have his name on the tip of my tongue, the edge of my thoughts, his name sits there, legs dangling waiting for someone to rediscover him again. His story is my story, for I was a child when I heard his voice.. where are you.
I wanted to hear this in full context and I'm so glad I did. I've never been drawn to poetry but this truly was powerful and raw. Genuinely moved me to tears.
D imagery Guante presents is always breathtaking.. "like a leaf's rustling around landmines".. The power of dis poem is in d perfect illustration of finding love amidst war and chaos.
The fact the Fred Again took parts of this that would have otherwise been forgotten, but then turn it into a whole entire song, really brings it to life and keeps this poem alive in some way. I think that is pretty cool
I love writing spoken word personally It’s easier to listen to spoken word with my eyes closed I can really come up with the pictures in my mind of what the person is saying. I’m here from the Fred, Again song and I had a feeling that line was from poetry or a line from a film so I’m happy to find the rest of it.
Jesus you're a poet man. I feel like my compliment should be some beautiful metaphor, but at the same time, I feel intimidated writing the ones that are coming to mind. Lol.
I’m hear because of FredAgain. It’s like he’s saying different words. FredAgain made it sound soo different even though it’s the exact same words from the same person
Listen to Fred again.. - Kyle (I Found You)
I love the song
This had me crying my eyes out
Watch his Tiny Desk concert too. Amazing.
0:53 - I found you.
1:02 - I found you exploding.
1:08 - I found you beautiful.
2:34 - In this smoking chaos, our shoulder blades kissed.

Can't get enough..... Fred helped me find you >>> but damn the words the feelings so electric and powerful
One of the three greatest love poems ever written.
“Ours is not a love song sprouted from redemption, hope, even longing. But, it is a love song.” A decade later, this line still hits me in the feels.
Guante does metaphor like nobody else. I love it.
Here via Fred Again. Incredible lyrics. Incredible music.
Take this masterpiece, let a musical genius sample it... I feel happiness I don't get to feel often.
Fred again - I found you
"Every swing of the axe,
A bedroom's liquid whisper." *snaps*

I swear Guante's poetry will never cease to make me feel all of my emotions even deeper than I usually do. They're always so beautiful and meaningful.
Every month I come back to this poem and find new layers, references and meaning. Amongst all of that are different emotions. Damn this guy is good!
No does it quite like Kyle...
Guante, easily one of the best linguists of our time. Also, I wish I could give him a hug ☺️
Our shoulder blades kissed. And now i'm crying. I swear I'll come for you
