It's not exactly live, I've seen Tiny Desks with some jump cuts. It's a little edited. For example, at 5:09 you can't hear his flat-handed slaps on the table at first. It appears some of the sounds were adjusted in post. But in general, it seems it was shot in one take, and it's amazing to me

bro.. this guy just comes out of nowhere in my life and makes insane meaningful heartfelt music and i just cant get over it. its exactly what my ear wants to hear. Fred again and again and again and again. much love!
There are a couple albums that I was obsessed with when I was young. Siamese dream and ATliens. I didn’t think I’d ever find an album (this counts 😂) on that level that I can’t get enough of.
I swear this man has a million variations of each of his tracks that he can just seamlessly conjure out of his brain at his whim and interweave effortlessly into an authentic one-time performance. The dude is living in his music.
does anyone know the name of the song he mixes in the middle of kyle(I found you) like on the marimba? I swear I've heard that melody before in a different song Edit: I found it its Eyelar (shutters)
There's a melancholy to his music, like holding on to someone you love while sailing the open seas, running low on supplies, no land in sight. Yet there's hope in love. Hope beyond the vast horizon.
I can imagine. After his life of people, party and love in his business, and then corona. No love, no people, no parties, no exstacy. Cold turkey. Wow. Thats a hard hitter.
Oh wow, did´nt know that. I discovered him as an artist via the pandemic albums, and there is so much pain in some tracks. This info explains alot. Thanks
It's funny. One of the reason I love him so much is that I am autistic and music is the main way I connect with my emotions. I really can't interpret my emotions in my day to day life. Fred's music has allowed me to experience more complex emotions that I didn't think possible. It's incredible. I don't know how he does it, but man.
This actually kept me alive... I won't reveal more... But my mother loved his music... And especially this... She's gone now... She lost her battle against cancer... This is one of the last memories... Experiences I had with her... Thank you Fred... That's all I can say... Thank you, and please don't stop making music!... If there's grammar or spelling mistakes it's because my eyes were full of tears... Thanks! God bless everyone who sees this and please keep your loved ones close and make sure they know you love them...
So sorry to hear that... glad you had the chance to share such a meaningful and intimate experience with your mom, I'm sure it meant the world to her! I know it's hard to move on, but I hope you find the strength to do that knowing you made her happy up until the last second, even with such a simple thing like enjoying music together. Stay strong ! Wish you the best and a happy Christmas ❤😊
This is up there with the Anderson Paak and Mac Miller tinydasks. Truly one of the greatest performances on here. His musical choices, intonation, vision and expression on music is like nothing ever seen before in electronic music, it’s incredible
Mac Millers was unforgettable and watched it many many times, and I don’t say this lightly but this is right right up there just in terms of pure ability, I am not quite sure we can comprehend what he did here solo.
This is literally one of the best pieces of media I've seen in the entirety of my life. I was there for the birth of the internet and this I believe is the culmination of the most beautiful aspects of humanity and technology combined. I cry everytime I take the time to watch this. Bravo ❤
Unfamiliar with his work, but I’m in awe. He seems to me an alchemist, transforming sound, waves and matter into an experience that resonates on a truly deep level. You can really sense that this comes from a place deep within, and it is a blessing that he is able to tap into that source. What a miracle!
yea i hadnt really heard of fred until this past year.. guys incredible... his BTB set at coachella with skrill and four tet is worth checking out.. TBH.
It’s so rare to find music that just feels exactly like life feels to you when you look around and can’t find words for how alive you are in that moment. Thank you.
the ancient Greeks looked at astronomy and music as two sides of the same coin. astronomy representing the external explainable world, and music the unexplainable inner world.
Fred has the ability to capture raw emotions and passion like no other artist I’ve personally come across. He has made life changing music for millions of people, including me. Thank you Fred!
Agree. A lot of electronic music the last 10 years has breaks just so you know when the drop is. I think Fred has created a new template which brings out soo many emotions you cant wait for the break so you can hug someone.
So true. A lot of us amateur producers walked so Fred could run. The concept of this performance isn't new by any means, but Fred has it polished in a way that only someone who came at the time he did, could do. The promise of this was sold to a generation of Beta testing bed room producers who gave up, grew up etc before they could put their 10k hours in, with the tools that actually did the job. That takes absolutely nothing away him, but just saying he is standing on the shoulders of many. And it's a beautiful thing.
@@globeatin couldn't agree more, totally understand what you're saying. And yeah, it takes nothing away from Fred. I just think it's less likely that he and many others would exist without all the precedent: and I'm sure he'd agree, he's a humble chap by all accounts! Besides, that's what music is. He's carrying on a long tradition of mutation and conception.
The most impressive part of this performance is the fact that his earbud stayed in the entire time ... All jokes aside, I cry every time I hear this. Such pure emotion, such a beautiful performance. This is something I will never stop coming back to. Truly incredible
This is first UA-cam comment I have ever left on a video but I could not resist. Fred has single-handedly reshaped the culture and the way I personally view music as an art. No cliche boundaries, no rules, no creativity boxes but rather absolutely beautiful way of expressing his uniqueness by being such a diverse artist. As someone who produces the music as a hobby I have had rough patch recently of feeling demotivated and constantly hitting writers block but this is beyond inspirational! Thank you for your hard work and everything you do Mr Frederick. Cheers mate.
This is my first comment too and after reading yours I just went through your SoundCloud and Spotify and actually loved your work! And for this I love Fred even more! Connecting people, inspiring artists and creating true masterpieces! ❤ P.s. I am hoping to come back to this comment in a few years when you are famous like Fred, with the "big smile on my face" :)
This is magic, man. I'm not a particularly emotional person, I seldom cry or even shed a tear. But I'm listening to this and I can't help but be moved to tears. There's something in Fred's ability to choose the most evocative vocal samples from real life people, building emotional energy with his music, but leaving enough room for you to fill in the gaps with your own stories. I really have a tough time putting to works the artistry on display here. Thank you so much.
To everyone and anyone seeing this, I strongly, strongly recommend you see Fred live. It's a transcendent experience, so say the very least. Fred, thank you for bringing your unique gifts to the world in this way.
Hey Fred. You probably won’t read this, but thanks to this performance I have just experienced my first ‘high on life’ moment in a very long time. The tears of joy proved it. Thanks for that. It means a lot.
Fred, this has been one of the toughest years of my life. Your music has been like a warm embrace to me in some of my darkest moments. Thank you for bleeding for us. Thank you for encouraging us. Thank you for giving us a soundtrack to find our hope in. Please don't ever stop making music... we need you. You are God's gift to us and reminder to keep holding on even when we don't feel so strong.

This just blew me away. I was so grateful when I came to the comments to see how many others felt the same. My husband and I love Fred Again.. and tiny desk concerts. My husband watched this and was very touched. He insisted I take some time to watch. I totally teared up too. We laid in bed, closed our eyes and listened again together with the lights off. We don't get much peace or time alone together with 2 little kids. This was a magical moment though. Electronic music has never touched our souls quite like this. This tiny desk concert was powerful. Our 3 year old also just adores Fred's music. She dances and sings her little heart out to it during our family dance parties. Thank you Fred for being a light to these parents this year. It takes a lot to be vulnerable and put yourself out there, so happy for your success.
No words.. Best Tiny Desk Concert ever, hands down.. Not a single trace of arrogance, my man is totally immersed, sharing his soul with the audience from the get go until the very last second. Unbelievable.. Absolute legend..
"If you dont know, dont worry" This phrase juste hit me like a truck and had me tearing up in my room. For people struggling with social anxiety and depression, music truly has a mystical power for healing and self-soothing. It's treatment for me at this point. This concert is up top with Mac Millers', Anderson Paak's and FKJ's performances for me, a brief moment suspended in time and space.
I mean, this is this generation's version of Nirvana Unplugged, an absolute masterpiece of music for this generation in my opinion, and I am 44 years old. I've listened to this mix (concert) 50+ times as brings out such emotion in me, as I hope it does for you too. It's literally more than what it was ever meant to be. Such meaning, heartbreak, love & family in every tune, Thank you for this Fred, in this world, it s much needed.
❤❤This set changed my life forever. I will never forget the first time I heard this. My physical therapist played this during a session. And we laid on the grass. Tears falling down my face...and that was it...i never thought I would be able to walk, but most importantly, dance. I truly honor & respect this artist. Thank u for changing my life, ser Fred. ❤❤❤ geez stop making me cry...😂
In a time where people struggle to focus on anything longer than 30 seconds Fred turns up and delivers something you 100% can not take your eyes off this was a master piece thanks Fred
I sense unmeasurable sadness in these songs but the joy and celebration of living the time we have, fighting for space. I don’t know what you have been through but I feel like you found and sustained some incredible strength to share you life with us. This session will become more organic, and important to everyone who hears it the longer they enjoy this life. God bless.
"fighting for space". It's so true. Territorially, physically, mentally, emotionally, we are all fighting for our own spaces. You have such a way with words. Thank you for sharing.
How can one human being be so bloody talented?! Just recently discovered Fred from a friend telling me how awesome a live show was. After multiple replays of an absolutely legendary Boiler Room set, I'm here watching Fred create art & magic... again & again & again & again & again...

Definitely hit a vibe that just takes me away. Amazing performance and incredible soundbuilding too, dude's got a beautiful mix style with his piano and electronics
This performance is incredible.I usually start tearing up around when he plays Delilah. Not tears of sadness or happiness. It's as if every emotion could be combined into one beautifully dreary yet euphoric and chaotic feeling.
Delilah makes me so emotional. They have a live performance where they’re both at the piano and I would simply burst into tears if I were Delilah on that stage 😅
Fred’s been on my bucket list to see live for a couple years now. After this, tickets may be unobtainable. With this being on the internet, I’m not sure it bothers me. I could watch this a million times. Thank you Fred, this is a gift to humanity.
Does he do these sets live. I know he dJs and plays the MPC live but hasn't heard of him doing these intimate sets live. There's nobody in the tiny desk studio for this.
I lost my grand-dad yesterday. I don't think I've fully realised it yet but you've made me able to feel connected to my emotions once again. Thank you Fred
hmmm. thanks for sharing brother. Also lost the man who was like my grand-dad about 2 weeks ago. Sending you big love. We lucky we have good music to get trough those things. emotions are beautiful
I had the opportunity to see Fred in his after party in São Paulo, and it's mad to see how he can make people feel such extreme emotions. In his DJ set, I felt pure joy, danced, sweated my whole body and went totally nuts for 2 hours straight. Now, I've sat down through this whole video with tears in my eyes, feeling happy, sad, nostalgic, grateful, and completely out of myself. Fred himself is art at its purest form, I am just glad to be alive at the same time he's doing all of it.
It’s so special how he takes little moments of songs or random moments of life with friends and turns them into something so special. It’s the little things that have the most beauty - Fred showed me this.
Best Tiny Desk set since Mac Miller. I was bawling, not even 5 minutes into this. ❤ I remember randomly coming across his music during the darkest days of the pandemic and for him to open with “Kyle (I Found You)” just brought me back to that time and how happy I was to hear new, refreshing and deeply personal music that I think we can all relate to. 🥲
This is absolutely magical. There are not many folks in the music industry with this level of talent. Watching him in the moment, creating every tone, beat, video, is amazing to see.
It's early morning on New Years Day, and I foolishly agreed to come in to work. It's cold and gloomy out, no one else is here today, and I was scrolling through UA-cam when I came across Fred's Tiny Desk Concert. I am so glad I didn't scroll past. I have been glued to the screen for it's entirety. I was a bit bummed out to be at work today, I am mildly hungover, quite tired, and yet the past 27 minutes feel like they are the perfect proper intro to what will be a monumental and fantastic year ahead. Thank you NPR, thank you Fred. Happy New Year everyone!

Funny seeing you here, I watched this live while working through some of your tutorials.
It's not exactly live, I've seen Tiny Desks with some jump cuts. It's a little edited. For example, at 5:09 you can't hear his flat-handed slaps on the table at first. It appears some of the sounds were adjusted in post. But in general, it seems it was shot in one take, and it's amazing to me
Andrew, I dunno why this was the last place I expected you to be but, for some reason, I'm glad that you are haha. If only you could do a Tiny Desk Blender session right?

There are a couple albums that I was obsessed with when I was young. Siamese dream and ATliens. I didn’t think I’d ever find an album (this counts 😂) on that level that I can’t get enough of.
I swear this man has a million variations of each of his tracks that he can just seamlessly conjure out of his brain at his whim and interweave effortlessly into an authentic one-time performance. The dude is living in his music.
The dude IS music

While there is some freestyle in play believe me he practices his sets.
He's standard I don't understand the hype

does anyone know the name of the song he mixes in the middle of kyle(I found you) like on the marimba? I swear I've heard that melody before in a different song
Edit: I found it its Eyelar (shutters)
There's a melancholy to his music, like holding on to someone you love while sailing the open seas, running low on supplies, no land in sight.
Yet there's hope in love.
Hope beyond the vast horizon.
I can imagine. After his life of people, party and love in his business, and then corona. No love, no people, no parties, no exstacy. Cold turkey. Wow. Thats a hard hitter.
His partner passed away during the pandemic
Oh wow, did´nt know that. I discovered him as an artist via the pandemic albums, and there is so much pain in some tracks. This info explains alot. Thanks
It's funny. One of the reason I love him so much is that I am autistic and music is the main way I connect with my emotions. I really can't interpret my emotions in my day to day life. Fred's music has allowed me to experience more complex emotions that I didn't think possible. It's incredible. I don't know how he does it, but man.
I normally cringe when people try to be poetic in UA-cam comments but this was well said and genuine. I can tell.

Unfamiliar with his work, but I’m in awe. He seems to me an alchemist, transforming sound, waves and matter into an experience that resonates on a truly deep level. This is one of the most beautiful performances I’ve ever seen Thank you Fred I really needed this.
It’s so rare to find music that just feels exactly like life feels to you when you look around and can’t find words for how alive you are in that moment. Thank you.
I gave you my most honest like on this comment.

That is exactly what I was about to comment. It's so crazy, isn't it?

I feel like Fred is the culmination of so many shared ideas from the world of electronic music. He's the producer we all wanted to be.
Agree. A lot of electronic music the last 10 years has breaks just so you know when the drop is. I think Fred has created a new template which brings out soo many emotions you cant wait for the break so you can hug someone.
That's exactly what crossed my mind; this is gorgeous.
Well said

Thank you for your hard work and everything you do Mr Frederick. Cheers mate.
