They are great for the experienced person, or the beginner who may not be able to afford a table saw or track saw. My straight edge finally went kaput so I've been researching the Trend as well as the Bora. With the expandability the Trend system offers, it makes this a must have. Great content as always. I would like to see more tips and techniques for using that jig, as well as tips for making sure you get square cuts with an edge guide. I have the Bora, and there is a learning curve, particularly when you’re not referencing factory edges.

Yes I would not mind seeing what more you can do with that guide. I have and use the same straight edge cutter you had for 20 years. I m terrible at cutting a straight line. The edge guide is a great tool.

Good video and advice. I bought a Kreg accu-cut straight edge guide. It wasn't as intuitive as one would think; matching your saw to the sled and then making that 1st cut to establish a 'kerf-like' line took some time and a couple of replacement strips. The Trend or Bora guides, even Kreg's good old fashion straight guide is much better. I'm in the market to replace my accu-cut so very timely.
As for a video to show the use of the router jig ... many other wood working channels have sported their hand made version of this router jig and its uses so I'm 50-50 on whether you should make your own. I've attempted making home-made jigs, some better than others. Seeing this jig, I'd buy instead of make. A CNC machine is a lot more precise than me and this is a jig that needs precision. Aloha ... I have that same Clamp 'N Tool guide. Probably bought it 30 years ago. Still has the price written on it, it was expensive at $35.
I have a single trend straight edge clamp as shown in the video. I use it to cut doors to height, it's much quicker than using a planer or setting up the track saw. I use a battery circular saw with a fine trend blade and it's gives a great cut everytime

Always enjoy the vids. A quick internet check also learned these , less the accessories, appear to be less expensive than the Bora I’ve been contemplating. Also the Bora isn’t expandable. Thank you

I make setup guides for placing the straight edge in the correct position. It can be tricky to determine where to clamp the straight edge for the correct cut. Every brand and type of saw seems to be different and not an easy whole number. from blade to side of saw.
Using 1/4" ply or hardboard I cut pieces with the saw to be used by placing the board against the straight edge then making the cut, (12" long is plenty). I then cut this guide piece halfway down the length. This gives 2 guides, (one for each end of the straight edge. These two pieces now can be placed on your cut marks and the straight edge pushed up to the guides. After clamping, remove the Spacer pieces that you made. Mark these for the saw used and keep them with the saw. You can make a set for each tool you use. For a router also mark what size bit you used.
Two years ago, we down sized, sold our home, and went full time RV. I had 8 of those "Tru Grip" edge clamps. HAD. Four of the 50 inch, 2 36 inch, and 2 at 24 inch. Sold them ALL ! Now, we own another house, and guess what.. yep, starting from SCRATCH!
Man, I feel you. About 12 years ago I sold almost everything... thought I was getting out of the business... nope, had to buy it all over again.

I'm so glad to have found you (and I immediately subscribed)! I'm a very newbie and just purchased my first circular saw (but have yet to use it until I watch several of your videos). Sorry if this is a lame question or I shouldn't ask here (I don't use Instagram). Your link for the Trend straight edge clamp only has 24" or 36" options, but I think you may have been linking a 50" option. Amazon has a 100" one, but that seems way too big, cumbersome, and spendy for a first purchase. It would seem 50" makes the most sense if I'm trying to cut plywood, so is that what you'd suggest for a first purchase?

Good video. Would be cool to have an edge clamp review. Seems like nobody did that, which is surprising considering it's almost a must have tool even for very casual users, like you said. Something like the 5-10 most common and easy to find models. Because there might be other interesting products other than the Trend one (different budgets, other qualities, etc.). As an example, Trend is not distributed in Canada.

Dumb question:
Is the 24 and 36 guide wide enough to clamp to a 24 or 36 sheet of plywood?
Or is some width lost in the clamping mechanism?
That's a really good question... I actually don't know for sure. I only own the longer one that works with 4" sheet good.
I rarely work on more than a 24 inch sheet.
Thought I’d buy a 24 inch guide and see if it fits. If not, I’ll exchange it for a 36 inch guide.
I’ll post the results here, probably after 3 weeks or so.
I need to cut the bottom of my exterior front door but also plan to do some routing. I just saw that they have on the Trend-USA website a 50” clamp. Would that be a good all-purpose length to have?
