I had an idea for the context behind this animatic. Ultimately, Celestia was wrong. Twilight wasn't capable of ruling a kingdom. Either she broke under the strain or a horrible tragedy happened and she felt like she failed to live up to the expectations put on her. With her mind damaged, Twilight convinced herself that Celestia never really cared about her well being, she only saw her as a tool to clean up other people's messes and eventually as an excuse to abandon the kingdom. Twilight also thinks back to all the times her friends didn't takes her concerns seriously (Lesson Zero, A Canterlot Wedding, The Movie and The Beginning of the End) and begins to believe that her friends never gave her the support that she deserved. Twilight starts to think that she was the one who made their group worthwhile. She also thinks that the magic of the Elements were what was important and that her friends only ever dragged her down. Magical prodigy that she is, Twilight figures out a way to bind the Elements of Harmony to her will. Just like Discord desires a world of chaos, Twilight intends to force her version of order onto the world to ensure that nothing terrible can ever happen again. Her friends hope to stop her from taking control of everything and to bring back the Twilight they love. And why does Twilight still look like herself instead of turning into a version of Midnight Sparkle? Because there's no dark magic at play here. There's no magical influence at all. Just one very mad alicorn.
Okay I just found this, but is anyone else freaking out over the idea of Twilight having a villain arc? This whole thing is a masterpiece, for a first attempt at something like this it's honestly beautiful. You're waaaaay underrated.
My only question is how would she become the villain? Not that I’m saying this is bad at all, I just think it would be interesting to see why she becomes a villain too!
@@invadermaythe1st ⚠️A long theory⚠️ Yes, she could be, but in the future when she sees all her friends die and being left alone, yes, she has spike but it would not be the same and let's remember that with her friends she was able to overcome every obstacle until she became a princess and everything with HER FRIENDS and that is why her friends are very very special to her and another fact is that she is sensitive and more with regard to friendship because in the episode where Discord managed to corrupt her friends she fell into depression and although Celestia managed to cheer her up is because her friends were still alive and their friendship was still worth fighting for, but...what if her friends are already dead? That is where Twilight was able to enter into a stronger depression and change her point of view on the friendship, until sadness turned into resentment and resentment into hatred and she might think "If I lost my friends, then everyone will lose them", and one more thing to remember is that when a princess is filled with negative feelings, they show they're darker side as it happened with Luna, than by jealousy and re-insertion with her sister transformed her into Nightmermoon. At this point Spike could no longer do anything to help her on his own, because alicorn magic is very powerful, so he had to ask help to others to stop her peacefully, but since they saw that she is an alicorn, those who had helped Spike stop her saw war as their only option to stop her, without consider her real emotions. She has realized just how much power she has and it's gotten to her head. She feels like she needs to prove how powerful she is, so she kidnaps her old mentor and friend, Celestia. She announces to all of Equestria (and the neighboring nations) that she is more powerful than the sun, and any who dare challenge her will be defeated. Her friends try to reason with her, but they are sent away as Twilight cannot bring herself to harm them. Luna tries to lead an attack on Twilight, resulting in her disappearance and Shining Armor's injury. Twilight's old friends start formulating a plan to rescue the sun and calm the new Princess. Meanwhile, Twilight tries to take the power of all the Elements of Harmony for herself. This is where the animatic begins. After the song, the ponies storm the castle. Twilight is defeated. She may have had the Elements on her side once, but they refused to respond to her. She was trying to use them for her own gain rather than the good of Equestria. The Elements of Harmony turned on their user and banished her into the stars, where she will remain for a thousand years. Celestia was freed and Luna was found. They resumed ruling together and told nobody that Twilight would return. But one day, a group of young creatures may need to band together. For on the shortest day of the thousandth year, the moon will aid in her escape, and the land will be plagued by fear once more. So ponies, yaks, griffins, hipogriffs, sea ponies, breezies, changelings, dragons, beware. Beware, for the Dusk Princess will return once more. There is no escaping her. One day, she *will* rise again. And she will not be defeated a second time.
This could be the cause of the events in my little pony a new generation wich is a sequel to my little pony friendship is magic just imagine if they have to go and fight twilight for the future of equestria i wonder and imagine what the aftermath of the fight against twilight will result in

Celestia did execute her and after the grief Twilight asked Celestia if they did anything wrong by welcoming in an enemy. Even in her grief Celestia said you must always give benefit of the doubt. Twilight for years mulled this over but eventually came to disagree. She first tried convincing Celestia but she was intransigent. Twilight stopped trusting Discord and started learning how to direct the elements to turn enemies into stone. Eventually Celestia tried to put a stop and remind Twilight of redemption. But Twilight couldn't accept it. She had lost far less then Celestia but she still thought that Celestia was wrong, she was endangering Equestria and the world with her focus on giving others a second chance. Twilight needed to stop her. She loved Celestia but her mercy would kill them all. Twilight must bear the burden of the crown and the hatred of everyone she loves for the good of keeping them all safe.
Funny thing, I've heard that one of the ideas that they kicked around for the last season was for Twilight to turn into her Midnight form. So this is oddly fitting.

At first Twilight is ok with this, however she grows discontent. It is at this time the displaced evil power of the villains finds it’s way to her. This drives her insane, and makes her become evil. She goes to Canterlot in, and kidnaps Celestia and Luna, from there, she drains their magic, taking it as her own, saying something “What has been rightfully mine the whole time!” Her friends find out and Starlight reasons she could the elements to help her, however, Twilight had already thought of this, and had taken them for herself. This is where I differ from the video: They free the villains from stone and reawaken Sombra to find that the evil corruption that had bonded to them was gone. They join together, and, although dubious of them, Twilight’s friends aid the villains in distracting Twilight long enough for them to get the elements away from Twilight. They power the elements up -Starlight acting the element of magic- and, instead of removing the evil magic from Twilight, they banish her to Tartarus, along with the other would-be villains.
I feel that Tempest Shadow would’ve fix better than Rainbow, Luna would’ve fit better than Fluttershy, and Starswirl would’ve fit better than Discord, but that’s just my opinion it’s still really good
