I’m a gold castaway club member and I think the excursion tip is also risky since Disney negotiates the Disney difference with the provider so it may be cheaper but you could also be getting lesser value experience. I’ve done both and have found that Disney’s up charge is usually well worth it
Disney gift cards at Target are 5% off with Red Card. And can be used aboard ship. We have used them ourselves and have seen some folks rebook with STACKS of gift cards.
Our EP and his wife just finished scheduling a 4-night cruise after balancing it against the cost and flexibility of the same amount of time at WDW. With tickets, staying at a moderate hotel, and the Deluxe Meal Plan, it came out to practically the same price, with the added benefit that other costs were fixed. So Disney fans should know that a cruise just *seems* pricey for a Disney trip because it’s all bundled in a different way, but the actual dollars-per-day cost turned out to be the same. It’s really about the kind of experience you want, because both opportunities provide value for money if they are planned well.
I went on my first cruise ever last September, which was a disney Cruise. Service was amazing, the ship was clean and the crew entertaining and helpful. Unfortunately, I was very seasick, despite taking prescription level medication and suffered bloating, so I won’t be back. The island was beautiful, and the offered activities were fun. It was two adults and no kids and it was a Halloween cruise, which was awesome!
Could you please do a video on all the interactive games at the Disney parks? That one with the mirrors and cards to cast spells, the one next to Pirates with maps to locations you need to visit, the various cell phone games at Galaxy's Edge, the Adventurers Club, all that sort of thing! It's especially timely with the new Star Wars stuff just coming out. I swear I arrived at Galaxy's Edge at 7am, and never even thought to go check out Toy Story Land until 7pm, mostly because I was too busy scanning boxes for gear! You could also warn us about things like looking for other symbols on boxes as well as just scanning them. I was in line for Smuggler's Run, and quickly scanned a box as the line moved past it, only for it to turn out I needed to know what other symbol was on it in order to move in from there. There wasn't even any way I could find to start over and try a different box once I knew what to look for, it kept asking for info on the one I'd left behind in the queue! Explaining just how to use those cards to cast spells would be great too, it took me a few tries to get it to work when I played that a couple of years ago. Thank you for such great videos!
These are excellent tips! Thing about the military discounts is that they do tend to be much fewer than other discounts and they are only on set cruises, as opposed to getting say a 10% discount on any cruise or on board credit. If you are flexible tho, these can work out great. We cruise Disney all the time when we can, and are going platinum on our upcoming cruise this spring break. We know you have to dig and be flexible to find the discounts, but they are out there! We'd love to see more cruise line content DFB! lots of good eats on there! Thanks!
Cruises on Disney are laid out for families to be mostly apart. My teenage and college kids didn’t enjoy the cruise because Disney had very little for them except video games and ice cream socials(?). Lots of kids on this ship! Great to do meet & greet. The best part is Castaway Cay. LOVED it! Wish we could’ve had more than 8 hours there 👍🏻
@@brentos96 True....lol I cruise based on places I have not been to, and try to cruise on as many lines as I can. DCL is limited with just 4 ships. I still have not done Australia. Baltic or China/Japan cruise routes. Will definitely look at Disney when ready to book any of those routes.
I would definitely just book my excursions with Disney. This November will (hopefully) be my 8th Disney cruise and the one time I booked my excursions outside of Disney to save money it was definitely a bit cheaper but we were so late to the excursion because there was no clarity as to where we were supposed to meet the group and no one was able to help us. Luckily I turned on my roaming to try and call the company and they got me connected with the tour guide but I know if I had just booked it through Disney I could have saved a TON of time and frustration
When you say book late how do you mean? When is to late? My fiancee and I are looking to take a cruise and I'm looking at one in February of next year.
I am cruising on Carnival in August. But two questions I had on behalf of a coworker that I'm talking into changing to a Disney Cruise from Disneyland in Long Beach. Let's pretend the initial price for his cabin ran $1350 and later on, it goes down to $768 for his cabin category, would he be able to get his itinerary repriced at the lower rate? And since Disneyland cancelled his reservation due to the national pandemic, and he received credit, would he be able to use that credit on his cruise?
Just checked with Disney - their 3=day cruise, Florida resident rate, for Feb 28th, for 3 people, would run close to $2K. That's with a $600 discount. And with a room that has a "slightly obstructed" view. Kinda pricey. Guess I'll continue to be a landlubber a while longer so I can save up those gold doubloons. (sigh)
Unfortunately for what you will pay for a 3 or 4 day cruise on Disney..you can do 7 days on a major cruise line. But kids clubs are standard on most major cruise lines.
K B Remember to compare what the cruise price comes with - the 7 day on another line may be the same price as the 4 day with Disney, but there may be additional expenses that are included Disney’s price already (sodas and room service are a couple that come to mind as not extra on DCL and are on others like Royal Caribbean). And of course, you have to want to have the Disney experience as part of your cruise experience. I’ve done two so far and they absolutely felt worth it, but the Disney part of it was an important part of the decision. If it’s not? Definitely look at the other lines and pick that cruise that’s right for your needs.
Plus you have to pay for the nursery and when we were looking Royal had the nursery included. We got a crazy good deal on Disney so we did it but it is pricey otherwise.
@@Beredaman08 what is included on a disney trip and what is extra to pay for? As I was looking at some cruises and food and drinks (some dishes etc) wasnt included and you had to pay extra for the dish etc I dont drink alcohol so is sodas included in Disney or is it only a certain amount and then you pay extra for them?
These tips apply generally to any cruise (other general cruise tips are to book spa treatments on shore days, most cruise lines allow each passenger to bring one bottle of wine, you can sneak hard liquor in small mouthwash containers). Are there any tips DCL specific? The only one I can think of mentioned elsewhere is the ability to see first run Disney movies on the cruise (savings $15-20/ person and no lines). But if one combined a DCL with a Disney resort stay, are there “discounts” (free or cheap upgrades on DCL or resort)?
Just learned a specific benefit to Carnival cruise line, and wondered if there is something comparable to DCL. Carnival stock holders get extra on board credits for long cruise on Princess. Again is there a similar benefit if one owns Disney stock?
I have a 3 year old (almost 4) and a 1 year old. Do both of my kids have to go to the nursery? If my wife and want to have a date night, do they have babysitters on board?
Yes. I was able to get it, but specified that I needed kosher when I booked. I also attended a Friday night service where we were provided with three bottles of kosher wine. I wa able to bring one of the bottles back to my table for dinner (late seating) and made kiddush with the whole table (they were't Jewish, just my wife and myself were).
The on board booking bonus used to be so much better. It used to include on board credit and there were far less black out dates. TA’s typically give less on board credit if you use the on board booking bonus too. We didn’t bother on our last cruise.
Hi, this is a kinda weird question, but could you please do a video for Keto snacks in Disneyworld, because this is a frequent thing on the internet 😅❤️
My 1st Disney cruise was in 2010 and I booked at the last minute over the phone. Got an extended size balcony cabin, 5 day cruise for 2 adults/2 kids.... $2,000. My next Disney cruise was $8000.....ouch!!!!

My main question is... are there things for boys on the cruise??? I see so much about the princesses but nothing for boys... and I really want to do a land and sea package in 2 years for my son to turn 5
notta brat they have Marvel and Star Wars themed trips. On the Halloween one I went one, we had Pirate night and people dressed up for it. I didn’t notice a princess feel for the kids but it might be different since I did a Halloween one, and the characters were in costume as were kids and adults and the kids went trick or treating.
@@mugglechris my son's birthday is in January so we will not be going on Halloween... and the marvel day at sea leaves from Miami and the parks are in Orlando so can't do that either and if I am paying for 7 days just for one boy related it is not worth it...
There’s a plenty of the non-princess characters on board as well, plus the pirate night, and the play areas for that age range have stuff like toy story areas or a play area themed around Star Wars or Marvel hero things even when it isn’t a Star Wars or Marvel Day at Sea event. Also saw quite a few young Prince Charmings on our last cruise - the same spot that does the princess dress up has a package for lads that want to be a prince.

PLACEHOLDER!! - How did this video not talk about purchasing a placeholder?!? It’s one of the best ways to save money on your next cruise. You don’t have to know when you want to cruise next when you buy the placeholder. You can decide that later. Don’t leave the ship without getting a placeholder. It’s 100% refundable if you don’t use it.
You mention a "castaway club" but don't explain what it is or how you join it? EditedToAdd: Never mind, you do explain several minutes later, at the very end of the video. So, I guess my comment goes from asking what it is, to asking that you please explain stuff like thar when you first bring it up. :-)
