Omg I'm a recovering addict & I also took Accutane when I was 18-19 for 6 mos. After I graduated HS, I started getting this awful acne & then cystic acne after NEVER having acne. I've been clean since March 11 2016 so whatever that is lol.. 7 years. Of course I know!! Mine was more of street "use" but I got so SICK of it. Started with pain meds & progressed... Now I have a happy, healthy 7 (in 2 days!!) yr old son! I've struggled a bit bc I use methadone to get clean but it's hindering my progress. Its just a substitute so I've got to make up my mind to wean off it or not. I have too. Eventually. Love ur stuff, so funny!! Glad to see someone doing so well after going thru similar things as myself!! ❤

Girl I used heroin/fentanyl for 5 years straight, every single day with no clean time in between. I was doing about a bundle on average per day (it was usually 12-14 nick bags per bundle). I’ve been on methadone for almost 3 years now. I was on 137, now I’m down to 125. I just started my taper a couple months ago. I’m going down 2mgs every week, which people will say is fast, but it’s different for everyone. Trust me, do NOT listen to all the horror stories or you’ll never get off it. Methadone truly is liquid handcuffs. It DOES hold you back. It will save your life when you’re first getting off street drugs, but once you get to a certain point in your recovery, you grow out of it and then it’s time to move on. It sounds like you’re ready, but if you’re not then that’s okay too! I just know that at my clinic and other clinics in my city, it takes forever to get take homes, and they take them all for the dumbest little shit. They make it like that intentionally. The medication itself works, but the program doesn’t. It’s designed to keep you dependent and stagnant for life. Cures don’t create customers. They want customers, as it all boils down to money. Being dependent on methadone keeps you tied to the clinic. You can’t travel spontaneously, (for those who don’t know) cuz even if you have take homes they’ll do random bottle checks so you have to let them know in advance if you’ll be out of the city/state/country and won’t be able to come in to prove you didn’t sell your bottles or drink them all 😒 Anyway, that’s a whole different conversation that I don’t have the energy to get into right now lol. If you feel like you’re ready to be off it, go for it! Time is always passing whether you’re working towards your goals or not, so you might as well get started! The best time to start was yesterday, but the second best time is today! You can go as slowly as you want, and if you do it like 1mg every week or something, yeah it’ll take a long time, but you’re not gonna feel hardly any withdrawal, if any at all. I know someone who came down off about 115 over the course of 1.5 years and he said the worst of the withdrawals was knocked out with just a Tylenol. I know you can do it!! I absolutely encourage you to start your taper. It takes a long time to do it right. Whatever you do don’t jump off, but I’m sure you know that already. You’ve got this. You’re much stronger than you may think. You’ve made it through 100% of all the things you never thought you’d make it through, remember that! 💜
