In the past a few of my friends would try and help me, but they always made it feel like you had to do it to look beautiful or to be better than someone else. As it is 2020 I'd love to see you do a historically accurate Roaring 20's look. I say historically accurate look because people tend to do a 20's flapper make up look that is more modern costume party but it looks nothing like the styles worn at the time. (Which I have to stifle my tongue as soon as possible when I see the modern adaptation costume flapper look then make a non-committal sound when asked what I think. Or use the best advice from Andy Warhol ever: Is there anything you can say when you see someone's artwork and you find it simply horrible? Andy Warhol replied: "Wow." Which has saved me from many akward moments. Or my mom's favorite "Isn't that something!" )
I think my family's love for silent film, classic film, and our love of history started my personal love for dressing out of my era. Plus I don't have any modern conventionally attractive trates, as the standards of beauty change constantly. I have a silent film to black and white talkie, blonde bad girl look. So I tend to work with that. If I try to look modern I feel like I am in a costume.
