I Play this, the Opera Rara version in my car a lot and it's a very good/excellent rendition. Curious to see it so found it here. Read in Opera News, that Calais will be revived this year in the western USA - Dallas, perhaps. Hopefully, I'll know more soon.
typical idiotic production - crappy producers who think they know more than the composer and librettist. And they omit the final cabaletta....waste of time.
It's hard to bring the house down in this (great) work, when the final, glittery, cabaletta is omitted. If they cut it because it undermines the seriousness of the opera (which it certainly does), they might have produced it in a respectful production that honors the meaning of the work. The first, and particularly second, act finales are real masterpieces, and the work itself has tremendous nobility.
resborzage what are your specific complaints? Is it that isn’t set in its original setting? Or are there parts of the libretto you feel have been ignored?

No, it is not complete ! Not only the final cabaletta was cut, but the entire third act. C'est dommage.

However you feel that way, you cannot deny that the singing is fabulous. Catherine Carby brings the house down.
