It might seem weird, when strangers asking you to have a picture with them, but they are happy if they could have a picture with foreigners, I think maybe because they are rare to see foreigners or they wanna have a good memory with you, but that's life sometimes you find something 'new' when you traveling abroad. It is different in Bali, for Balinese foreigners are part of their life, so they will not asking to do so, it is not common there. I used to visit Prambanan once, about four years ago, and the same thing happened to some foreigners at that time, lol
We were happy to take our photo with them. It was odd at the time, but it was fun! We did have it happen once in Bali - but it was in Bedugul at something that didn't have as many tourists. ☺️
Fantastic experience. The reason why the locals like to take photos with the tourist is that they want to look cool and to give the impression that they can speak English with the tourist. Btw, before the pandemic, my school regulary conducted field study. The students interviewed the tourists in English as part of their assigment.
Been there! I should say, this presentation is honest, factual cool and on spot. I still think you should have done both with Borobudur. At the main strip of Yogya (Malioboro), there is a Tourist Information Center, where a bus/van tour is offered doing a combined Borobudur and Prambanan....Oh well one reason to come back visit!!!
Love all the overhead aerial shots, you guys!! Agreed-it’s so hard to fully capture the magnitude of Prambanan without seeing it in person. Also had no idea there were campgrounds there! That sunset 😍
Great video, magnificent temple, similar but different to the Angkor temples, certainly from the distance with the towers and the colour of the stone was basicly the same.
This video was extraordinary! Your enthusiasm for travel is magnetic and watching you both explore left us wishing we were traveling there too. Thanks for sharing!
You should visit Sewu Temple, north of Prambanan temple, also in the same complex. It is a buddhist temple, and although smaller is not less impressive
There is a fascination with fair skin people especially in South Asian countries, so being Caucasian does carry benefit. I have seen it with my wife who is Caucasian and Blue eyed Blond Minnesotan when she traveled with me. The other part, you probably are seeing, how phone and taking selfies and pictures have become just part of life in the Asian Cultures. You should try out a Mango/Cucumber salad that is sold in Savage, Minnesota and you can not say spicy let even Medium. I have now thrown out twice how hot they were. Bill, a lot of respect on your tolerance of eating Hot food. Enjoying this series and adding Jakarta as a future destination
Some people you meet at global tourist attractions are from small rural areas where they will never see a single caucasian person and they probably dont have the resources for global travel. The most travel they will do is to tourist destinations in their own countries, therefore, seeing a caucasian person there is quite novel.
Well caucasian or bule considered as movie star 😆 just dont be suprised many local ask for picture Actually prambanan temple is a sacred place just like borobudur temple, people should wear spesial sandal when stepping the temple stairs, that happened when you step into borobudur stairs
We were movie stars?? Fantastic! 🎥😎😉 I'm glad we couldn't go on the stairs since we didn't have the proper shoes (I didn't know that was a thing!). Thanks!!
Indonesian people that come from rural area often have high fascination with Caucasion people due to the Hollywood movie influence. For these people Caucasian people are seen as a movie stars. They never seen a Caucasian people before and might never seen it again, so they'll use that chance to have some photographs with you.
I'm curious with the tourist ticket booth look like. As a local, I just visit prambanan few weeks ago, and they separate the local and tourist ticket counter. I just pay like 50k because it's weekend, then go inside.
Oh yeah!! We were SUPER surprised there was a separate ticket area for tourists. We were the only ones who passed through there because there weren't many tourists. 😂😂 It was a nice building that had 4-5 people on it, including security. It was sort of same as you - we paid our money and went in. Not sure why they separated tourists!
@@TalesFromOurPocket thanks for the answer! I thought you got some freebies 😂😂 Like it's more expensive.. maybe guided tour or Prambanan keychain\miniature
Hi guys :) I just have a question for you.. Did you shoot the drone footage? Because we saw that it is forbidden to fly a drone at the Prambanan Temple without permission.. is there a way to get that permission? Or you got the shots from somewhere else? Thank you ❤️

Thanks again for the tip! Places where they're better in person than in photos or videos are the BEST places. 😊😊
Heather… one of my favorite videos thus far! Keep it up!😀
Of course Bill too!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you very much! ♥️ 😊
The best part if you visit prambanan is watching ramayana ballet and dinner in rama sinta
Next time we will do that! I bet it's amazing.
Great video, magnificent temple, similar but different to the Angkor temples, certainly from the distance with the towers and the colour of the stone was basicly the same.
"magnificent" is definitely the right word!
Borobudur is pretty...
We'll return someday so we can visit it! The pics of it are amazing.

Yes!! That temple was on our list to visit because it looks amazing!! We ran out of time. 😭 We'll visit Yogya again and will visit Sewu!

Love this! Yeah, we definitely looked different and cell phones were everywhere! What's the restaurant in Savage? We used to live near there!
Its act the grocery store next to McDonald's. They have a deli.
Yes I agree..Prambanan is not recognized how good as really is as tourist destination.
Honestly, more people should visit there. It was beautiful!!
@@TalesFromOurPocket yes absolutely👍

Nope! You're not missing out on any goodies. 😂
You should have watched the Ramayana ballet at Prambanan. Also there are some smaller elegant temples around Prambanan.
Hi guys :)

We did not fly there ourselves because we also saw that no drones were allowed 😭. We got the footage from Creative Commons shots. 😊
@@TalesFromOurPocket thank you very much for your answer! It is really helpful 🙏😁
Very nice video! Note that the "Y"s in Yogyakarta are pronounced as "J"s, so it's pronounced JOE-JA-KAR-TA.
Whoops!! Thank you for telling us! 😁😁
