The ways in which our people sang fed their spirits, soothed their souls and connected them with Divine in ways that were deep. Sometimes we need to slow it down and connect! Love the hymns of the church!
Some of the best times I ever had in church were singing the songs of Zion, giving praise to Almighty God. I would agree that I can remember as a child singing in church and loving it. It does my heart good to hear the people sing and magnify the Lord!
These songs bring happy tears...I'm a youth minister at my church in Lancaster, SC and they don't sing like this anymore. This makes my heart ache for that old time religion. Back in the old church as a youth I remember this type of singing! Hymchoir I probably have all of your songs in my playlist. I thank God for you and may Heaven continue to smile upon you. Thanks a million times over!
This a song that I am learning now. I am 32 years old and from Baltimore MD. My late overseer was from Ridgeway SC we used to travel down there every summer and this is how they sing. Thanks for posting.
I heartily agree with the comments describing the beauty of this music. The hymn choir's simplicity is derived from a complex set of emotions many of us cannot comprehend. The majesty of the music, obviously, comes from life experiences that call us back to a not to distant past. But it also portends a wonderful future rooted in soul deep belief in Jesus Christ and the redemption that one day will be for all of us, Praise God, Praise God!
I love this song rite here it reminds me of the real good ol days back in edgemoor sc and rock hill sc thanks for posting this i listen to it every morning before work yes indeed it does something to my soul 😄
So Sorry about your Uncle. He really sung the sung, and I could feel the spirit all around me. I love listening to this one. I lost my twin sister three years ago. My heart hurt so bad, but there is something about this sung that brings me peace. I know when I get there I will be satisfied. Amen
Charles Mcconnell Thanks for telling the names of the singers. Funny I am from TN, with parents from AL. Related to Adams and Berry familly, I wonder if we might be related. My family is known for singing, and preaching.

Proof that your "accent" is a lie; They sing & sound EXACTLY like folk in the South. And we know why, don't we.
