Rust is so hard for new players to get into for several reasons. Even if you try to start on an "easy" server you're still going to get rolled by people with several thousand hours in the game. It's always good to try to help out new players when you can. I also just think the game is more fun when you can make alliances with your neighbors and stuff.
I swear every time I get to see H's stream live, I see ppl in chat complaining about them cheating..
