The number of cheaters on Rust is the reason I quit playing. It's crazy.
I only play PVE Rust because of this. Can still enjoy the game and cheaters don't really affect me. With the zombie mobs it can still be pretty fun.
Same. I'm 30 now, I have a job and I can't be bothered playing a small 4 hour session and get cheated on while playing. Same thing with Tarkov and any competitive hardcore shooter anymore.

being a working stiff who enjoys games like rust makes it hard to get the full enjoyment out of these games. and i say this knowing had internet and good pc games like this existed when i was a kid i likely would have done the same as them, had i been able to get said pc that is. well if anything pve is fun and allows learning of baser game mechanics that many pvp players miss all together. and some have end of wipe purge events which gives us working stiffs a chance to see how well our base designs hold up to raids.

Same, i only go to koala copters and UKN to play gungame and bow FFA. In gungame there are cheaters pretty much all the time, but on primitive FFA they come, cheat for a few minutes and leave, and it makes a period where there are no cheaters.

not gonna happen. most servers live off of cheaters. they would rather ban you, the one whos reporting, than the 90 people cheating chayneez zerg, because they make them money. either by buying VIP or by raising the pop so much that it invites other people to play on the server and potentially buy VIP too. Or when was the last time you have seen an entire cheating zerg get banned, instead of that one measely proxy account, which is immediately going to get replaced, that cheated for them.

They are not only cheaters, but they are Thieves through receiving stolen goods each time they buy an account. They shouldn't be simply banned, they should face legal punishment for their actions. I don't care how old they are! If cheaters have to face real legal trouble for their actions, perhaps we can reduce the number of cheaters and thieves in the process..

I was just watching a Rust creator's latest video last night, and they were repeatedly running into cheaters. The cheaters were being banned as the video went on, but it's a sad state of the game. Face punch and EAC should be stepping up to prevent this.
I wish Rust and steam would hardware ban all these cheaters. Not just Rust, all games should hardware ban all cheaters.

People just spoof their hardware to avoid hardware bans. But it is a waste of money to just buy endless steam accounts including the cheats for games.

Between Rust and CS2 I don't know which game is worse in terms of cheaters, at least in Rust the players have you, in Cs2 we don't even have a proper company running the game.

i feel like the admin job could by done by AI just by having it pick up on things like triple hs from 300 meters but it could be flawless if the console could read things like aiming at player threw obstacles, debugging, sideways player velocity, time spent to lock on player after ADSing, and player time spent in air without gravitation velocity. this seem easily obtainable the AI admin would then wait to pick of 3 of these actions delete all entities of said player, report, and ban player from the server.
Official servers should have an admin AI entity flying around counting active players as fake pop is still big issue in rust, even in some official scum servers.
I think I watched a 27min ad for Warbandits and I don't even have/play rust lol.

Ofc it's going to have cheaters, but what the "ad" is for is that there's people cleaning it out the best they can, even if FacePunch doesn't care, the servers have people who do.

I'm enjoying life on PvE servers.... very few cheaters.
I've been playing on Rusty Wastelands, a PvE sever, and sometimes I wonder if the cheater problem would appear on a PvE sever. I don't see how or why it would, but I can't help but wonder.
Man it's crazy how many cheaters are in the game. I have literally reported 7 players on another server and they were banned for cheating and that was in about 4hrs of play time. Im really thinking of just quitting the game because it's a loosing battle.
sadly you'll never get rid of cheaters. all you'll really do is make then create a new account. It's mostly the reason why i've stop playing online multiplayer games.
I finally started building my pc & was excited to move over from console rust. But watching these vids makes me somewhat nervous about the amount of cheaters on pc
Don’t worry, cheaters aren’t the most common thing in the world. I rarely find them and when I do, I usually just report them and they get banned pretty fast if your on a good server. Try to stick more to modded servers for less cheaters, official has way more. Btw, console rust has just as many cheaters as pc rust, so don’t think that playing in console has any upsides, because it’s like playing in mc bedrock compared to Java, pc rust is better in every way, don’t let cheaters ruin it for you🙂
@DanstarProject Sorry but they are most certainly common in the game or have you not been watching the video's the game is infested. All I can tell the other person if you do play just stay on Warbandits server's because they do have very active admins but will you run into cheaters 150% and constantly.
i dont have to play against these guys. i dont play Rust because of the cheaters. i quit playing most multiplayer games because of cheaters. i would love it if they would get permanently banned from using platforms like Steam or others.

I feel like Valve should really step in. It's the same story across so many titles that it's getting ridiculous. Give them steam bans, ban the entire steam account and blacklist their personal details used to create the account. Don't want to play steam games legit? Then you shouldn't be able to play steam games.
I'm sure there are plenty of people that think this is too much, because then they'd get banned and be big sad. Tough shit.
They pay to buy stolen steam accounts with the games they want already purchased so they never have to give valve any perspnal info - not at account creation nor at checkout

@TehSovereign I hate cheaters too but the thin line your crossing developer's should be able to stop cheats without having my personal details. I go to Walmart and buy a drill walmart has no right to any of my personal information im simply buying a product. Trust me I want cheating to stop tpp but the answer is not giving a private company's all your personal details. Also when you do cross that line now you just raised the price on bought accounts thus making the cheat sellers even more money. Not only this if I have to share my private info with a gaming company they notoriously get hacked a lot so all my info is in a private company's database for somebody to steal. I think their idea with the newest patch is a step in the right direction id rather have an update everyday than give some private company my private info.
Oh on top of that say a security breach happens and details get leaked now the gaming company has a lawsuit on their hands for not protecting customers private info. Let's be real if a gaming company is facing a class action lawsuit they are going to put way more resources into that rather than anti-cheat so until lawsuit finishes which could take years their money is going to litigation and not game development so more cheaters are running around. You see why game development us hard you do one thing to "fix things" and it just adds even more problems than it fixed

You have already given them your personal information, that's why you have a steam account. They ban your account and blacklist your email, phone number, adress etc (anything used that you've willingly given steam to use.)
The walmart comparison is poor as you do not have to make a walmart account, confirm your personal details with walmart before your even allowed inside walmart. If you did have to do that, would you not think it would be far easier for walmart to ban people who steal?
Rust has to crack down on these cheaters. Swear like 25% of players have some sort of cheats, whether it be scripts or hard cheats.
Rust is such a great game, shame the devs give 0 fucks about the IMMENSE cheating issue it has....want to play it, but not in this state.

Given your accuracy & legitimacy in investigations, it should be on the CHEATERS to prove innocence. There's ZERO reason why blatant cheaters can server hop.
This is like a cop who is ONLY allowed to kick out a robber from THE STORE THE COP IS IN. Then the robber goes next door and holds them up too. Why not allow the cop (trusted admins) to arrest (gameban) a robber (the cheater) for simply robbing (cheating). Why are the devs putting such a handicap on the admins?!?!?!

Cheaters are always wondering how he knows they're cheating just a wild guess but I'm going along with the idea that he probably made a bunch of cheats that sends a message to admins or something when they join with those cheats kind of like that one UA-camr who made a bunch of false cheats that trolled all the cheaters that downloaded them for CS:GO

Rust cheaters are becoming more and more prevalent and it's just sickening. I remember a time where there would be the odd cheater per wipe, now it's per day. It's ruining the game for me sadly.
i started playing 4 months ago, I have ran into cheaters every single day. I thought i was just bad the first few hundred hours and now i realize it.
As a paid actor for camomo i am required to ignore all rules as they don't apply to me, call camono a fat bald virigin and built the shittest and largest bases of the game😊
its funny sometimes when i would play rust back in day i would hear some crazy bombs going off and be like glad its not near me.. now i know it was this and damn i shoulda went and got some free loot.

This is why I stopped playing it over two years ago. EAC keeps out cheaters like screen doors keep a submarine water tight.
On the subject of EAC. There was a massive ban on Warthunder of 40000 cheaters, a game I had no idea had cheaters. Also Battlebit Remastered has at least several cheaters playing on any server at any time. EAC is not a valid anticheat and this is the garbage we have to deal with.
Tbf anything except riots vanguard anti cheat is dogwater.
And even then riot games still has some cheaters.
Community ran servers with good admins is better than anything facepunch can give sadly.

As always, great job, it's a pity that Admins don't work on BestRust solo only #2. I sent 6 reports. I wrote to the administration of 2 admins on discord. On this server there were only 2 players playing solo together. they had 2 solo bases and one with two. I put together 2 sleeping bags and ran all the time together, I killed them together, I raided all their bases in 4 hours. The next day they set up 2 bases near their main base, I wrote and reported together, but it didn't help. I have 9k hours and dozens of successful reports that resulted in bans, but this is the first time I have encountered such poor server service.

They don't buy it on sale bud, cheaters mass purchase keys from countries with a poor dollar value like the Philippines by creating fake businesses.
You can get a rust key from the Philippines for about $1.05 USD.
They take these $1 keys, slap a cheat bundle on top of it and sell it back to the cheater for amounts raging from $50 - $175 dollars.
This is why there are so, so many people selling cheat software. The profit margins are extraordinary.

When I played on a monthly and we'd get the cheaters when the pop was down to 20 or less on the last week when we're all just vibing and rp'ing the last days of wipe. Almost felt like they'd just hop on to test their cheats cuz they'd be going full spin bot/flying just letting it all unleash.

Above all, the FOG OF WAR update for Rust will be a huge game changer for us Non-Cheaters. The FOG OF WAR is specifically designed to prevent cheaters from seeing beyond 200m or something, and no hacks will ever exist to overcome this because of the way it was specially designed, it’s pure genius. So cheater hacks will only work within 200m range after the update, which is still much better than cheaters seeing you from 20,000m away “to raid your twig base and take your bow kit after killing you with AK” - figure of speech.
RUST needs to follow path with Warzone. Warzone have gone as far to make it illegal to cheat on their servers. Literally, they will get a police record if they are caught cheating in Warzone, and there account is also tied to their GPU not just the IP address. So if a cheater gets banned in Warzone, he will face a hefty financial penalty with police record, and will need to buy a new GPU along with a new cheater account just to play. And if caught again and again its results in some jail time lol for consistently breaking the law. Why can’t Rust do this as well? If they want to save the game from dying to hackers, and rebirth the game in a new light, this is the only way. Pretty sure that’s why Warzone did it. They see the True Value cracking down on cheaters which erode the quality of the game they work s hard to make. As we all do.

Facepunch dont care about the cheaters, well they, because they make a fortune out of all the copies that cheaters buy, so they dont really want too stop cheating its in their best interest too allow it, all while giving the impression they are trying to stop it.
It is not just isolated to PVP servers, I've seen cheaters on PVE servers, including the one I own and run.
It really pisses me off how many there are despite EAC. I run Linux on my main rig and I can't play on official servers because EAC doesn't work on Linux. But it apparently doesn't work at all if there are so many cheaters. It's worse with the EAC disabled servers, the admin banned a dude that I had previously killed the day before for cheating. First day I blast a cheater with a water pipe.
This kind of shit is why i gave up on MP games years ago. It has only become worse since i quit these games, and it's not going to be better anytime soon. I'll just stick to SP games unless i can play with friends (and nobody else) i can trust. These cheaters are calling themself gamers but need cheats to be able to do anything in whatever game, it's really sad to see this. What the gaming communitie needs is servers that can eliminate any way to cheat or modify whatever game. Or just perm ban anyone who cheats on ALL gameservers ( an ip ban can do that ). All gameservers should work together on this. These cheaters are killing the online MP games and cost a lot of money because the REAL gamers will stay away and/or will abandon any of the games they already play (like me).
Cheaters suck. However, WarBandits allowed cheats (pay to win kits) suck even more. So moral of the story if you are going to buy cheats buy it from the server shop? Seriously giving firearms to paying players (~70 Euro) with 10k various resources, armor, furnace split, bgrade, early access to new maps, AUTODOORs, is way worse than what I saw any of these cheaters do. Camomo can you also ban the kit buyers?
iv been playing rust since 2018 and lately the cheaters are 100% worse than ever for whatever reason i run into multiple cheaters every night that i play and to be fair its usually between 11pm-2am which seems to be when cheaters play i assume because admins are sleeping and they can get a few hours in before they get banned IF they get banned at all but after 4000+ hours its pretty easy to spot somebody using esp

I refuse to play the game Rust, even if it's offered as a gift. The game's design allows for easy exploitation by cheaters, which can immediately invalidate the legitimate progress of players who abide by the rules. The game Rust was released in early access in December 2013, and in five months, it will have been out for 11 years. Although I don't play the game, I am well aware that the issue of cheating has been escalating over time. It's perplexing why legitimate players would still want to engage with a game like that.
Yeah i remember old rust.. right now mostly no random pvp you look around go safely check every coner suddenly AK guy jump from nowhere .. you can see many times its not random.. people run preaimed over hills hs insta and other things... hate rust but same problem CS,.. hacking is right now biggest gaming problem... becouse hackers are ahead of devs... you can see them laugh to anticheat and admins.. becouse its not working ,).. .
Since these cheaters have money to throw away, too bad a server owner couldn't make a "Cheater VIP". Pay $199 and you can play here, but you will be watched and banned if caught cheating. You would just need to find a way were they couldn't do a charge back......
I wish you'd let one successfully raid you then immediatly come back and raid them. Give them the false happiness that they just won a raid and got some rockets, then boom immediate karma and disappointment as you raid every door to their base and then take it over lol.
