Trust me when I say the ground clearance is NOT an issue! I drove from Kenai to Anchorage during one of the worse snow storms I've driven in in my 35 years in Alaska and the state plows had not been out yet, I had zero problems with a fresh foot of snow on the pass. The countryman all4 is the best car I've ever drive in the snow. Drove a 2012 up the Alcan to Alaska in November and several times I caught myself accidently slowly speeding up to 70 on icy snowy roads without recognizing it... granted I had studded tires on. This car handles so we'd that we are on our third ALL4.
Some details were missed. The front panel that looks carbon fiber actually lights up different colors (or one color) and cycles through when put in disco mode. It makes for fun lighting at night. The heads-up display, while useless on camera is easy to see while driving and provides all the information you need, so you don't really wind up looking at the gauges except for maybe the fuel. Lastly, this version has self-parking for parallel parking. It works pretty well, even with a manual transmission. That also being said, is one of the few cars available with manual and AWD that is not just a base car. Is it overpriced? Probably, but this is one of the most fun drives you can have on road in an SUV. That fun makes the high cost (as much as the platform mate and same sized X2 when equipped the same) worthwhile especially with the excellent infotainment that really does understand verbal commands on first try. If you got the dough and you don't need a huge car, then this car is great!
Good review. I've got an r60 (2016) version of this car and I LOVE it! It's not a serious SUV per se, but it's a great, confidence inspiring car to drive around Northern California that will take me to Tahoe to go skiing if I ask it to. The traction control is great for driving on freeways and mountain twisties in the rain and the safety rating makes me feel good when my wife is riding in or driving it. It feels like a little luxury car that has some really nice features to deal with bad weather and keep you feeling safe and comfortable while you're doing it. I'm a driver (my other car is a 1995 Miata with a hard top and a roll bar) and while my wife and I wanted the practicality and the features of a cross over, I didn't want a car I didn't like the looks of, the handling or didn't feel proud of driving. I'm a BIG fan of this little cross over.
A vehicle for those who ENJOY the drive, wherev! The trunk space, lifting the trunk floor base, allows more rm for adding more for a ROAD TRIP!!! The manual change in seat POS, is a thro back... I'm OKAY w/ ;) Such a fun car to drive an go wherev... Up/down and around through the country; hours of highway; or around the city.. LUV, LUV, LUV!!! Get one w/ paddleshifter it's legit!!! Kicks it up a notch!!
I think the ground clearance of the mini countryman s with adjustable suspension is about 7.3 inches(as demonstrated by the chanel tfloffroad. Its an iphone 8 plus plus an inch of ground clearence as they said so about 7.4 inches. Dont get me wrong i know this is not much, only suitable of very light off roadind(reaching a campsite maybe) BUT there is a company called XRAID that in colad with mini they lift the coutryman about 1.5 inches. Half of it is suspension and the other half is wheels and tires, giving it a ground clearence of almost 9inches and then thats pretty good, combined with the good bmw awd system. You can just remove the tires for on road use so 0.75 inch lift wont damage the dynamic character of the car and then when you want to go a light trail trip just put the offroad wheels and tired back on and yoy will get to most places you need to go
they make a phev version that can go like 20 miles all electric, would make an awesome commuter car to drive to work as my work is less than 10 miles away but the price is steep.
Great review Tim! I think you'd have to go into this really wanting one of these. At that price it's not interesting enough to sell me on it. For much less you could get a Subaru Outback. Still seats 5, good storage, and probably better ground clearance, and all wheel drive.
i have 2018 countryman s and it is a great car. very fun to drive, unique, and quite roomy. i had 3 hondas, 1 acura, 1 pontiac, and 1 hyundai.. so far this is the best car.
"SUV" should be used loosely with this vehicle. It has an 8-speed auto and it's based off of the BMW X1, fitted with old BMW infotainment and parts-bin in the interior. Nice vehicle, but, like Porsche, everything is an option and the price starts to sky rocket when you add them.
I think he doesn"t know what he is talking about, nor the history of the vehicle and how so superb it was a Alpine Rally car, the fact it is BMW powered and probably has more back leg room and headroom than most most american sedans. Think he better stick to pickup trucks.

Good points. Thanks for sharing!

The black grey exterior just looks stunning. I think I found my next car! Thanks for the review!

Checking out this review and realized this is filmed down the road from me. .. 👊🏽
Stop by sometime! Old Chevy along the side of the house.
Tim, You should bring back the yeee-haaaa at the end of your videos.
They are awesome
I currently have a 2017 Ford f150, and I want to buy a 4dr countryman all4

the outback truly seats 5 people. would like to see 3 people in the back seat! 8)

Cool Story
Great Review Tim
You in Nebraska? My cousins family lives there looks like the m monument behind you. I love the country man s. Then again I like small cars.
Good review! Does your car need an alignment? In the video your steering wheel position is off and not centered as far as I can tell.
Maybe. This was a 7 day loan from the manufacturer. They likely addressed it before they sold it.

Heated steering wheel?
$43,000+? Seriously?
40K isn't all that much for a car
I like mini, I don’t like the people that drive them ( at least in California).
Graph Guy Glad I am in NJ. Lol
Compact SUV
Good, honest review!
Thanks!
The best legeng car in the world
Legend
Wow that interior is so futuristic. A start up switch? 😦
I got mine for 30k. 2020 S
Nice
But it’s not a Ford?!?
@@Pickuptrucktalk I know....I like other brands (Buick, Mitsubishi)
45k for this?
This isn’t the ranger
Coming!
Can't get on board with the mini .never been a fan. I'd buy a BMW 2 series before that clown car!
I have a bmw 3 series in racing red I actually want to trade it in for this car. Bmw is a great car although it’s very expensive to fix.
Life’s too short to drive a boring car...and BMW are boring, I got rid of my 5series...my mini makes me smile every time I start her up,..
Technically Mini is under the BMW umbrella.
Drive one. You'll change your mind.
@@TheWickedStitch It is a BMW, by design, engine and tech.
mercedes, audi , vw , bmw those SUV looks like shit
