Just love the Band.. true ensamble... beautiful moving vocal delivery by Rick, soulful sax solo by Garth, understated percussion by Levon ... just right on all around. I never tire of this song. Love these men and their music
Yes, Levon held back his vocals and percussion this time ...probably to let Rick evoke a few memories. Usually Levon was the steadying backgroud vocal to support Rick, but it was good
Such a Beautiful song, sung by The kindest sweetest huge hearted friend Have had this song dedicated to me many times..Love and Miss you everyday My Dear Dear Rick ❤
Eric Clapton stated that he broke away from Cream ( or something to that effect) because he wanted to be in THE BAND. What greater compliment one could ever dream off? The Band.......The greatest musical collaboration of musicians, singers and songwriters.
As I was saying their music will go down in history forever and Music From Big Pink will be remembered as the most iconic album Miss you and love you every day Rick♥️
Truly a heartwrenching song. "These old lover letters I just can't keep Like the gambler said, 'read 'em and weep" Robbie sure knew how to write a powerful song
Yes indeed. And he still does! God, I love that line. “And the dawn don’t rescue me no more.” No truer words have ever been written to describe that kind of heartache. And thanks to Robbie for writing this song especially for Rick to sing. I’ve watched probably ten different Band and Danko solo performances, and he never sings it exactly the same way twice, I love that. His voice was beginning to get e tiny bit weaker here, but he still looks good, and his vocals are so heartfelt. What really broke me was seeing the condition he was in ten years down the road from here. He was so overweight by then, and seemed to really be struggling to get through the song at times. And in one late performance, shortly before his death he seemed to be just phoning it in. Almost talking through it, and seemed just... tired of it all. I really loved him, and his unusual voice that always came through sounding, not polished at all, but just really TRUTHFUL. When he sang of heartache we believed it. When he sang on Stage Fright, we believed that, too. Gone way too soon. And Richard, too (another real tragedy), and Levon. Man. Can somebody wrap Garth and Robbie in a protective cocoon and keep them safe?!
@@genevievegelatto8447You re right in all you say. Yes it was a real, cruel , tragedy to see lovely Rik Danko before his death He d ballooned in weight, & you could see plainly he was not a well man. His heart eventually decided enough & just stopped beating whilst Rik was asleep. At least I hope it was that easy ♥️
if ever a song was meant exclusively for one man this is it. such a stirring cut each time out and try as they may no one ever does come close to Danko's. I was fortunate to see them...such truly fine musicians across the board
Caught this tour at the hard rock in Vegas. Just before the fateful trip to Japan. Epic show with Garth, Rick, and Levon. Long show, so glad we made it. Miss him so often.
Breaks my heart too..Being close yo them, seeing their incredible talent and perfectionism on stage, they deserved more recognition.. but they will go down in history as Big Pink being one of
for all watching this video,,please go to the band website and check out garth hudson returning to ''the big pink house'' for a promotion of ''the basement tapes complete'' garth said that this was his first return visit since he left ''big pink'' in 1969...45 years later...to me a total band nut,,it was very emotional...it was nice to see after all these years garth being in the spotlight...garth was the engineer and held all 45 years later the last of the unreleased basement tape recordings...
Jose Hernandez most of their songs are so heartfelt n sad Rick stands out like no other what happened to him ...Robbie great guitar player just moves my heart !❤️ Ernestine Olea
It makes no difference because sun don't shine anymore an the rain falls down on my door. These old lovers letters I just can't keep.. Well I love you so much with out telling you.. Thank you K.G. I will never forget you..
I love Rick (love, love love Rick)and the song. Have seen about 4-5 different videos of same song. I agree the one in Toyko is the best. The most moving.. The studio version is too sterile. Rick is better when he sings live. His passion comes through better And did I mention that I love him?.Like his wife Elizabeth said "How could you not fall in love with that face?"
Robbie probably just had enough, he keeps saying 16yrs but if you love what u do it doesn't matter! He got tired of Manuel ,Rick one reason they drank, too much n took drugs...he walked Away.from a greater vision that Robbie even knew existed (the BAND) the song I love to hear the most is Wispering Pines !!! E.olea
one of my fav if not my fav Band Tunes unlike Philibelow i wasnt lucky enough to catch rick but i am not sure why? Had plenty of chances what was i thinking? Tears ! Missing The Band in a big way. s aw the Band a bunch but why not rick when he was playing in NY all the time? Hmmm
Danko was found guilty of smuggling heroin into Japan. He told the judge that he had begun using the drug (together with prescription morphine) to fight lifelong pain resulting from his 1968 auto accident. I'm not sure of the year, though. I thought it was in the early 90s.
Rick was in a lot of pain from the accident, he broke his neck. There was always someone who could help with his pain , but were they really helping? God bless Rick, Elizabeth, Eli, and Justin
opinion is that Robbie made all the money. Truth is he did! But the others partied so hard and abused themselves. Robbie could have told his brothers to save it but he looked out for himself. Too bad they had the world. So much more to do,never will get any more.
Robbie went to Danko etc when they had blown money and were strung out and bought their rights. This according to dead Chicago night club owner of the old Quiet NIGHT. confirmed by ole Levon in a sarcastic remark I dont rightly recall
'It Makes No Difference' is a genius song. Credit Robbie. But it's Rick Danko who ensured it would live forever in people's hearts.
he commandeered it and claimed manifest destiny! "sorry Robby, gonna be taking this for my own."
@@ensinitas And then Garth took over with that alto sax solo just when you thought the song was ending. Beautiful from the first time I heard it!
*Rick Danko* our beautiful friend we miss you everyday
Oh Rick, why did you leave us so early , huge talent and a huge loss, rest easy fair fellow.

The most emotional rendition of this song they ever did. Played with an indescribably tender feel...
Awesome talent! Soulful singer!

Eric Clapton stated that he broke away from Cream ( or something to that effect) because he wanted to be in THE BAND. What greater compliment one could ever dream off?
The Band.......The greatest musical collaboration of musicians, singers and songwriters.
He did say he wanted to join the Band, but that's not why he left Cream.
Rick's voice and emotion along with Garth on his sax...this is utterly my favorite rendition of the song. Cannot get enough.
Rick, its late now, it makes no difference, but you bring me to tears
As I was saying their music will go down in history forever and Music From Big Pink will be remembered as the most iconic album
Miss you and love you every day Rick♥️
What a soulful man he was, our dear Rick
I've to close my eyes when listening to this.
Truly a heartwrenching song.

Lovely performance, lovely man, great band
Caught this tour at the hard rock in Vegas. Just before the fateful trip to Japan. Epic show with Garth, Rick, and Levon. Long show, so glad we made it. Miss him so often.
One of the greatest ever ,it seems that they couldn't get the recognition that they deserved.breaks my heart
I know right.
Breaks my heart too..Being close yo them, seeing their incredible talent and perfectionism on stage, they deserved more recognition.. but they will go down in history as Big Pink being one of
Beautiful
It Makes No Difference is the greatest song ever created.
Great song, great singer, great band
Every time i hear Rick sing this, you can hear, see, the heartbreak...i wonder who it was that broke his heart
My fave song from The Band! Rick Danko would be celebrating his 71st birthday today. He passed away on December 10th of 1999... God bless him
Beautiful song
I watched them on TV when they made this concert. I should of recorded it. I wish I could watch them again... Brings back when I was younger....
Probably the best live performance of this rendition. Great arrangement. You really made it, Rick and the guys.
Just amazing music, amazing voice !
Love the guitar and sax.
Great song
Rick Danko put your soul on that

Lovely performance...RIP Rick Danko
that was one great perfomance
This breaks my aching heart... ❤️💔❤️
THANK YOU so much for uploading this concert!!!!!!!
Rick Danko is such a great emotional singer. I’ve seen several versions of this song and his interpretation is different every time.
Such a beautiful sad song .
Jose Hernandez most of their songs are so heartfelt n sad Rick stands out like no other what happened to him ...Robbie great guitar player just moves my heart !❤️ Ernestine Olea
Beautiful 🙏🏼😎❤️
Best Band song ever. Always loved the Band… but Rick Danko the most❤️
Saw that tour in a small theatre in Canada. Brilliant
It makes no difference because sun don't shine anymore an the rain falls down on my door. These old lovers letters I just can't keep.. Well I love you so much with out telling you.. Thank you K.G. I will never forget you..
Rick Danko... The most beautiful voice I have ever heard and the most beautiful face I have ever seen
I saw the band backing up Dylan in the early 70s fall shows I've gone to that's the one that gave me bragging rights
Listen to the way he sings the word "gone" at 3:38...just angelic.
What a great song
Life is short, live it!!!
I love Rick (love, love love Rick)and the song. Have seen about 4-5 different videos of same song. I agree the one in Toyko is the best. The most moving.. The studio version is too sterile. Rick is better when he sings live. His passion comes through better

*WE LOVE RICK*
M Ratliff Did you see the live version from Canada? Very good.

Awesome
The Boy from Norfolk-Haldiman Rocks on!
and I showed up about 9 months later...
Rick is awesome. But can we talk about Garth on that sax?
Band siete i migliori amici manuel levon rick

This down-tempo rendition is painfully moving.
the down tempo is rightfully done by design. yes painfully so. Thanks for posting
La band e stata sottovalutata vergogna
This music is for the elite human who understands , sorry joe.
Who is other guitarist playing lead?
My favourite song of all time - excluding the works of Bach. Why has everybody got it in for Robbie? A brilliant guitarist, in my mind!
opinion is that Robbie made all the money. Truth is he did! But the others partied so hard and abused themselves. Robbie could have told his brothers to save it but he looked out for himself. Too bad they had the world. So much more to do,never will get any more.
brilliant songwriter and guitarist but crap friend and partner.
Robbie went to Danko etc when they had blown money and were strung out and bought their rights. This according to dead Chicago night club owner of the old Quiet NIGHT. confirmed by ole Levon in a sarcastic remark I dont rightly recall
Robbie is a self centered jerk. He rearranged the songs to his playing
What is all over his jacket? I can't imagine the audience what pelt him.
It's stars if you look closely
Bravi e troppo poco
