This infomercial encapsulates my time growing up in the '90s...It touches my soul with a ghostly haunt whenever I see it...What an era!... '90s BEST!!!
I saw this commercial so often in the 90s that the pattern of clips play out a like an actual whole song to me. Great to find this and relive something that has been bouncing around my head for the last 20 years.
I'm the same way with another commercial, that I'm looking for. It included Mellow Yellow and Spirit in the Sky one after the other, and I still hear the 2nd's chorus if I ever hear the first's =)
I don't seem to be the only one that can sing this verbatim start to finish. I must have seen it that many times as a kid that even now 30+ years later it's still memorized. I've had my older relatives cry laughing hard when I sing it front to back....crazy.
I was born in 1963 & can't image not living through the 70s & hearing this music on the radio & in my record collection. I feel a little sorry for the young people who didn't exist then.
I remember trapin and this commercial would come on so much that when it came on every one sang all the words even the price, address, and phone number
Dude. I JUST found this. I watched this commecial everyday in 6th grade before our school news. Im 36 years old me and Eric Dion used to sing the songs outloud in class in front of everyone. My wife freaked out that I could still sing the entire commerical verbatim. Thank you for posting this. It meant the world to me to be able to find this and impress my wife. My cats on the other hand couldn't give a S*it..
I've been looking for this commercial and/or album for years and my brother found it for me. Every summer, I'd stay up late, watching cartoons on cable as I just got a TV in my room. And I remember how relaxing it was to keep hearing this commercial. What I love the most is that there are others out there that have fond memories as something as simple as a CD spot. It certainly makes you long for a simpler time. I'm glad to see it again.
Whaaaaat??? That was one of the best songs that define 70s great songs!! Shame on the people who put together this commercial! Pilot's"OhHo It's Magic",its the ultimate 70s Song for those to remember their childhood during the time the movie"Jaws" was released worldwide. Why it wasnt included behooves me as well!!!
Hello Steffano, Antonia, Al D, Chandlerjoed79, Caleb and everyone else who commented on this commercial. I produced it, back in the day, and I am so glad that it was so meaningful to you! The songs were very meaningful to me back then too! Thank you for making me feel great!
+MrShampaine Thanks for producing it, its one of my favorite commercials of all time. Like many people here, I had been searching the internet for years for it and couldn't believe it wasn't online. I knew I had it recorded so I scanned hundreds of old VHS tapes until I found it. It's pretty cool to know so many others feel the same about it. Takes me back to a great time in my life!
I use to see it every Saturday night, from 1990 to about 1996, on sports channel chicago, durinf windy city wrestling..I memorized it and couldn't sleep if I didnt see it!
I hate how I still can't listen to ANY of these songs without automatically thinking of the song that came after it in this commercial. I wasn't even born until the 80s but I must have seen this commercial a billion times.
I just heard the song "Shannon" and had never heard it outside of this commercial before. I had to go an look this up. Thanks for posting this. Thousands of times i saw this commercial growing up.
I searched for this commercial...damn this used to come on in the 90s when I was a kid....over and over and I loved it....I know the order of the songs by heart
I didn't have cable growing up until the late 90's, so I would barely see music videos unless I stayed up until midnight to watch the pay per music video channel The Box. While waiting, hours of Time Life commercials would be the fillers. It's because of these commercials I love oldies and sort my songs by decades then genre. Like seriously, watching The Guardians of the Galaxy, I remember THIS Time Life infomercial.
hell yes the box god dam I could never call and request videos so I had to sit and wait through hours of crap just to see a video I liked dam I miss the 90s
GREAT!!! I remember these commercials! Before the Internet and UA-cam, I used to record and watch these infomercials because it was all I had of footage from this era.
holy shit I haven't seen this commercial in years, I've discovered so many great songs from this commercial and it sure brings me back lots of great memories! :)
i was watching cartoon network and saw this commercial in 1996 (i was 7 that time), this commercial gave me interest of listening to music for the first time in my life
This commercial had the same effect on me. I thought it was earlier than 95 though. I'm sure there were other variants from earlier on. But it played incessantly during a heavy TV watching era for me. I think it influenced me during my run as an aspiring DJ too. thanks for the memories
My brother and I used to randomly sing the hole commercial as if it was just one song we heard this commercial so many times. For some reason I also remember when he said the drummer for Pilot looked like Sarah Connor.
LOL. I used to wonder why in the world would they air a commercial like this on the Cartoon Network? But, they did. I never bought the CD, however, I did search for this video on UA-cam. So their marketing efforts were sorta effective with me.
Randomly my brain started playing 'ahhh heard my maaaamaa crahhhhhh. I heard her pray the night chicago diiiiied. Then ride ride ride hitchin a ride. I got past shannon and couldnt remember what came next. Unbelievable to make one search and one click and find my answer. Also refresh my mind on the other songs. Yo ho ho its claaassic
I used to see this commercial on Cartoon Network ALL THE TIME. I memorized it, as well, and I'm sorry to say this but looking back, most of these songs seem like the novelty songs of that time.
there was another infomercial with more songs! It had Carly Simon for sure, and some Paul Williams, does anybody remember that one? It was a longer commercial than this.
After a few days, I'm really thinking that this ad had to come from before 1995. I grad high school in 1994 and moved out of the area, and I'm pretty sure I saw this many numerous times while in school.
They aired this heavily back in 1989. The only difference is you could order records. I would choose the records over the Cd's or the double length cassettes.
I prefer the original one too, but the more I listen to the Blue Swede version the more I like it. They really made it their own. Can’t beat the B.J. Thomas version though.
Saw this commercial alot back in the day especially on the USA and TNT networks, the funny thing is that years later when I worked for a department store they played songs like this on the speakers.
Ok commercial. I first saw this commercial as a kid. The music from the 70s was unique. The songs played on the commercial seemed to reflect a youthful innocence of the 70s. Not bad.
This infomercial encapsulates my time growing up in the '90s...It touches my soul with a ghostly haunt whenever I see it...What an era!... '90s BEST!!!

Great to find this and relive something that has been bouncing around my head for the last 20 years.
ccrosbie33 Yes. I remember this very well too.
Same lol
same!!
Same here. Couldn’t have said it better. Good to know I’m not the only one.
Same!!
Thanks to seeing this commercial 10000000 times as a child, I'm unable to think of "The Night Chicago Died" and "Hitchin' a Ride" as separate songs.
franko6677 as a child same here 😆
haha i did that too!
I'm the same way with another commercial, that I'm looking for. It included Mellow Yellow and Spirit in the Sky one after the other, and I still hear the 2nd's chorus if I ever hear the first's =)
franko6677 🤣🤣🤣 me too!!!
I always remembered how bored the Hitching a rode drummer looked.
Everytime I hear this I go back to my childhood when everything seemed perfect. It's amazing how a commercial can do that.
i feel the same and I'm a black rapper. Loved this commercial and a more innocent time
I have had the order of the songs memorized in my head for years, sometimes I sing them to myself as a medley, so glad I finally tracked this one down
dynamiteraccoon same here ❤️
So do I.
Haha same!
Same
LOL!!!! Me too
I don't seem to be the only one that can sing this verbatim start to finish. I must have seen it that many times as a kid that even now 30+ years later it's still memorized. I've had my older relatives cry laughing hard when I sing it front to back....crazy.
Yep, cept that Shannon Song. That takes a Bee Gee's level of ball crushing to hit that tone🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yup I was surprised I remember the order for all of them, except Chevy Van
Yep me too lmao 😂
I remember every song in order. I’m still searching for the one with Cherokee people
My sister and I have sing this VERBATIM for years!! There came a point we thought we imagined it. So glad this video exists.
I wasn't really around for the 70's but damn this takes me back to high school in 1996
Finally, I found it. All of these songs have blended in my brain for decades thanks to this ad.
Omg I still remember the order the songs play in 🥰🥰
I looked up this commercial to be soothed with nostalgia and instead i was only reminded of the daily terror of being a child.
I was born in 1963 & can't image not living through the 70s & hearing this music on the radio & in my record collection. I feel a little sorry for the young people who didn't exist then.
because of this commercial, the trio of Hitchin a Ride, Chevy Van, and Shannon have been stuck in my head for 20 YEARS!!!!! 20 YEARS!!!!
Magic by Pilot. Been stuck in my head for 25 years.
Born in 1975 and I remember the exact order of the songs in this commercial. Brings back memories!
Odie
😍😍😍😍😍 nostalgic cravings has definitely been cured
Wow after reading the comments, I realized I'm not the only person that sings this as a medley
Great song after all these years 💗.
I remember trapin and this commercial would come on so much that when it came on every one sang all the words even the price, address, and phone number
This was the most heavily played commercial for about two years. I remembered the entire commercial as if it were one song.
Dude. I JUST found this. I watched this commecial everyday in 6th grade before our school news. Im 36 years old me and Eric Dion used to sing the songs outloud in class in front of everyone. As a kid, I think I listened to this commercial about 900 times. No joke.
RIDE RIDE RIDE HITCHIN' A RIDE
Me too. The order of the songs is permanently ingrained in my mind.
You ain't lyin! I used to have this commercial memorized! lol
We used to sing this at parties in college when we were drunk!
I miss waking up in the middle of the night with this commercial blaring on the TV.....😞
Thank you for posting! great to see there are many of us that have this memorized!
I remember this airing in 1995. Ahhh.. the good old days, with a compilation from even older days.
I deliberately searched for this commercial! I'm with you all!
Thank you so much. I've been looking for this for 20 years.
I actually bought this CD back in the day. That Pilot song at the end of the commercial was not on the CD. It still pisses me off till this day.
My Mom bought the entire collection! We eventually got to hear ever song on the commercial. Lol
I’m guessing that was part of the “other sounds of the 70s” discs mentioned just before it plays

+John Leshinski Thank you John!
You wouldn't happen to remember the song playing at 1:30 would you? I've been curious for years since it's the only one I can't make out. Thank you.
It's Spiders and Snakes by Jim Stafford.
This made my childhood and it still brings me comfort. Thank you for that.
My sisters and I also use to sing to this commercial and laugh about some of the music. Oh 1995, come back to me!
omg they played this commercial every 30 mins back in 1996 ..I was 17
I never saw this commercial growing up, but my parents had this CD (and still do). Probably the first CD I ever listened to!
I just heard "Beach Baby" in a grocery store and instantly thought of this commercial.
I searched for this commercial...damn this used to come on in the 90s when I was a kid....over and over and I loved it....I know the order of the songs by heart
Oh man this is so throwback!!!The good ole days of infomercial
I’m glad I’m not the only one who sings this as one song in their head lol I don’t think they played this commercial enough in the late 90s lol
I didn't have cable growing up until the late 90's, so I would barely see music videos unless I stayed up until midnight to watch the pay per music video channel The Box. Omg “the Box”! I remember that channel too! It was hard for me to get though. Always a little fuzzy. Lol
hell yes the box god dam I could never call and request videos so I had to sit and wait through hours of crap just to see a video I liked dam I miss the 90s
Omg best day of my life I also have been looking for this my bf and I are very happy thanks.
GREAT!!! I remember these commercials! Before the Internet and UA-cam, I used to record and watch these infomercials because it was all I had of footage from this era.
This commercial is my favorite song
My sister and I still laugh at this. We remember every song too!
holy shit I haven't seen this commercial in years, I've discovered so many great songs from this commercial and it sure brings me back lots of great memories! :)
Gotta squeeze every dollar out of these one-hit wonders.
I was born in 74 and remember a lot of these songs from a really early age. :)
Hated the commericals when they came out, now I'm listening attentively in OCTOBER 2020, times change!
OMG this is exactly what i was looking for! We had it memorized too!
i was watching cartoon network and saw this commercial in 1996 (i was 7 that time), this commercial gave me interest of listening to music for the first time in my life
This commercial sums up the ‘90s!
I watched this so much as a kid. I was born in the early 80’s but heard so much music from the 70’s thanks to my parents.
We used to sing this commercial at school in the 90' and die laughing 🤣
I’m only 14 and I remember I saw these commercials on TV and I fell in love with the 50-90s songs and I still remember the order the songs were in
This and Freedom Rock in the 80's😂
"Beach Baby" by First Class and "Hitchin' A Ride" by Vanity Fare are both the sounds of summertime.
I’m still singing it in ‘23 it’s Magic!!!!
This commercial had the same effect on me. I thought it was earlier than 95 though. I'm sure there were other variants from earlier on. But it played incessantly during a heavy TV watching era for me. I think it influenced me during my run as an aspiring DJ too. thanks for the memories

My 10yr old son just laughed at me for still knowing all the words.
I remember that SHAAANON IS GONE so distinctly...right after Chevy Van
Started my Time-Life collection with this very tape.
"This commercial reminds me of better-times back in 1977-1978 long before the covid-19 pandemic" 🇺🇸🤠📻🎤🎸🪕🎻🎹🥁.
That blue screen at the end is legendary. I remember when they used to say “sorry, no COD’s!”
Takes me was at Back! 10 years old
Randomly my brain started playing 'ahhh heard my maaaamaa crahhhhhh. I heard her pray the night chicago diiiiied. Then ride ride ride hitchin a ride. I got past shannon and couldnt remember what came next. Unbelievable to make one search and one click and find my answer. Also refresh my mind on the other songs. Yo ho ho its claaassic
Did anyone else see this commercial 10,000 times while watching Star Trek TNG in syndication back in the day?
That and the fresh prince
Ahhhh that explains why I saw it so much
I used to see this commercial on Cartoon Network ALL THE TIME. I memorized it, as well, and I'm sorry to say this but looking back, most of these songs seem like the novelty songs of that time.
There was no value in being a part of this for the bigger artists. So, a lot of one-hit wonder groups and songs that peaked at number 7.
there was another infomercial with more songs! It had Carly Simon for sure, and some Paul Williams, does anybody remember that one? It was a longer commercial than this.

Little Billy's Willy won't lay low.
I remember seeing this commercial over and over. I think I might have even seen a half-hour infomercial version once
0:00 / 0:10!!!! Does anyone have "this" video from blue swede?
Didn't they have "knock three times" by Tony Orlando? I can sear I heard that song as part of this commercial.
They aired this heavily back in 1989. The only difference is you could order records. I would choose the records over the Cd's or the double length cassettes.
I must say I'm pretty impressed by the song selection. Shut up and take my money!
Saw this commercial a ton back in the day. Thanks for sharing it.
P.S. I prefer the original "Hooked on a Feeling".
I prefer the original one too, but the more I listen to the Blue Swede version the more I like it. They really made it their own. Can’t beat the B.J. Thomas version though.
I remember this like it was yesterday
"God-bless youtube for bringing back this commercial".
The introductory CD featured in the "Sounds of the 70's" commercial was "One-Hit Wonders".
Saw this commercial alot back in the day especially on the USA and TNT networks, the funny thing is that years later when I worked for a department store they played songs like this on the speakers.
Each day after high School in the 90s watching reruns of The Incredible Hulk on the Syfy channel they played this during every single commercial break
I miss those day’s
loved this commercial
Ok commercial. I first saw this commercial as a kid. The music from the 70s was unique. The songs played on the commercial seemed to reflect a youthful innocence of the 70s. Not bad.
Commercial from 1995, I was a year-old!
This commercial reminds me of getting ready for school
watching this infomercial thought me most of the 70s I know!
Rip Sammy johns! :(
Anyone know the similar commercial that had the song "everything I own" by bread on the list?
Lol up late Saturday night at Grandma's
As much time has passed between when these songs were made and when this commercial was made, as has when this commercial was made and right now.
Awesome Mix Vol. 3
Omg to this day i sing this commercial as one whole song 😂
This infomercial was on every-- damn--Sunday...
It feels like I watched the Hindenburg explode; can't forget it no matter how hard I try.
This is my go to karaoke song medley
Nowadays, we can either download or stream all these songs and more.
Great commercial. Not one ridiculous song in the bunch.
