- oh my god a 50 minute video friend a is a scammer I swear I don't even know what I'm typing in this description. If you watch this whole video thanks bro I don't know how you could stand listening to me for an hour. I swear if you ask me what the modpack is, just look at the title. Also I hope my software didn't ruin some part of the video cause I didn't exactly proof watch the whole thing. Actually the controller didn't cause the implosion. The guy who had the sub comissioned had his construction team cut corners on the fucking cockpit. Actually, there were all kinds of problems with the sub. For one, it was put through MULTIPLE test trials. In each test, there was always something fucked with the main battery. Lemme emphasize. THE M A I N FUCKING BATTERY. Next, before they went on that voyage, they actually KNEW it needed repairs. Not just because of the faulty battery, but because it was such a lightframe sub, and had gone on multiple test trials, the hull had already sustained pressure related damages, which they did not fucking fix. Absolute. Fucking negligence.

Honestly i think minecraft fanbase are way too obsessed and addicted to the nostalgia of minecraft. They literally would listen to sweden for years nonstop and still feel nostalgic which is purely impressive.
The modpack does use two Herobrine mods. From what I tested, the mod used to exclusively backport the warden and sculk content to 1.18 seems very scuffed, which might have something to do with it spawning outside of the deep dark. The mod used to backport the other 1.19 content is supposed to already add the deep dark content that’s much more accurate and higher quality, but for some reason the modpack creator removed it all in favor of the scuffed one. I have no clue why.
Edit: Nvm it was because the higher quality mod didn’t have ancient cities
Another edit: Correction, there are actually THREE Herobrine mods. (2 mods, one datapack)
Scuffed fits the theme of "super sus game you found in a garage sale" better, would be my guess.
my best guess as to why the backport was used was to make the game appear more 'quirky' and 'off', and make it seem more unusual than it already was.

It honestly reminded me of back when I first discovered Creepypasta in high school. The whole “what’s the scariest thing I can think of right now?” thing perfectly encapsulated how my mind reacted to it at night back then.

I think I get it. They have the mod Sanity: Descent Into Madness in, but with all the indicators turned off and most of the things that reduce sanity disabled. So the sanity effects don't start until you get into the Nether/Slip.
This really does have the feeling of a Let's Play video you would find on youtube around 2012-2013
12:26 I think the shadow being alone is intentional. We once followed a tutorial on how to summon herobrine and I swore I saw an entity shadow in the center of the thing we were summoning with. It didn’t help that one of my worlds started bugging coincidentally after we did this. I had some hallucination problems as a kid so sometimes my brain would genuinely make a herobrine appear while playing on that buggy world
I also ended up having a dream with him in it, I was in some circular enclosed hole made of netherrack, and he was just chasing me around saying IM GONNA EAT YOUR SOULLLLLL
Thankfully my nightmares eventually got more creative

when you believe something enough times it becomes a reality. Your brain was just believing into herobrine too much. Everyone was seeing random shit as a kid. You can trust me on that
being around mobs, taking damage, and some other stuff like getting struck by lightning or being in the nether all decrease your sanity. When your sanity starts getting low you start to hear the voices and the growling. Once it reaches 0 it spawns a bunch of dudes that have a ton of hp and will like 2 shot you.
Damn that sounded really cool except for that last part honestly. Why do so many good ideas get ruined by overpowered mobs

Would it could spawn is some sort of enitity that stalks you. You only see it out of the corner of your eye it with you turn around. It runs on a randomly generating timer that will control when it attacks you. This will give you time to prepare against it, or not, depends on the length of the timer
So literally don't starve lol
@theman13532 Do you refer to mods like John, Starved Stalker, and Deep Blood? I think that John is the best horror mod, even a decade later, but it does make the game too easy and makes progression too quick. Mega John is an underwhelming boss that is essentially just a slow moving hit box that drops end-game gear.
Loved watching this, at first I thought this was like a real PSX Minecraft version until I saw the azalea in the caves and realized it was modded 😭

I realized it about the time I saw the berry bushes, cause I used to play old Minecraft with my brother on the XBox. Not exactly the same as the PlayStation, but a bit close from what I’ve seen.

the music being slightly off genuinely does make this seem like you picked up a creepypasta copy from the store. idk what it is about it but regular things being slightly off and unsettling are a lot more spooky instead of just jumpscare after jumpscare. it builds ambiance instead of just throwing cheap crap at you.
theres something about the lighting and textures thats just so appealing to my eyes, feels kinda retro honestly

I love these kinds of horror versions of games where the game is almost the same except features that never got in, like mobs that lost the mob vote, are present, almost recrreating the same emotions of when you first blindly experienced minecraft
If you want to see something similar look up Mario B3313, it does this but maybe to an even more eerie effect
little tip: you have to add optifine 1.18.2 to the mods folder of the modpack to make it actually look like a ps1 game (the modpack has custom shaders for it)

I like how traditional this video feels. Everyone these days is used to a sensory overload of memes and jump cut when watching a letsplay. This guy's videos however just feels more... natural, relaxing.

Yh it's weird. You have the copper, modern Minecraft caves and even advanced sounds and effects that aren't even apart of the current base game.
It feels more like a flawed imitation of old Minecraft(which it is from what I've read)and that to me adds to the eeriness of this mix of nostalgia and knowing what was and wasn't apart of Minecraft at that time

I think this mod pack could use an improvement on the monsters themselves, the subtle horror elements are great though, although I feel it could use a bit more. However, back on topic, the monsters just kinda feel like they're "there". I do like the glitchy appearance, and I think it should lean into that more. For example, glitching blocks and mobs, causing distortions in gameplay, and even making appearances occasionally.
Ive also had the same experience of having weird gorey images pop i to my minds eye while trying to sleep, it usually goes away after i rub my eyes a bit and overpower it with mental images of sex

I liked how they added mobs that were in the mob votes, and the illusionist, who from what I remember can't actually spawn, but it's still in the game's code.
You can still spawn it in the game by using summon command

@rainer_szs The librarian has a great "From the Fog" series I'd highly check out. He, in general, is a good channel of you prefer slower paced videos where you really take in the atmosphere.

This mod was so good, while not pants shittingly scary it had good atmosphere and build up, and great aesthetic.
Then the Midnight Lurker showed up and immediately tanked the mod's quality. Why people think 1-2 hit unkillable mods are scary and not just aggravating and makes people not want to play the mod is beyond me.

unbelievably cozy video despite it being a horror mod. your commentary was subtle & funny, & the editing was nice & kept the pacing up. i love the vibe of a lot of old let's plays but their complete lack of any editing or willingness to trim the fat at all can make quite a few of them hard to go back to.

I think this mod was pretty disappointing in my opinion. It's not the concept of a PSX creepypasta version of minecraft thats bad because thats something that would actually be interesting to delve into. its just the execution. I don't know why they didn't take away some contents of the recent updates, or try to add fog or give the game a odd uncanny limited scope feeling, something like the 3ds and early phone versions of minecraft did. that jumpscare was also pretty lame too, where it was just steve's corpse bleeding and flashing.
There actually is a fog but he forgot to install Optifine which is a requirement for the mod’s unique texture pack and shaders (comes with PS1 3D jankiness too)
Id pay to listen to you for another hour, its actually so entertaining to listen to your commentary while playing a horror mod or game

I think the reason mobs weren't spawning in that cave near the deep dark is cause deep dark areas/cities have zones where normal mobs cant spawn at all

I personally thought having modern stuff mixed with old adds to the unpredictability, like, I can remember and imagine old Minecraft but old mixed with new is weird and very much triggers my fear of the unknown. Especially with mob vote mobs thrown in in this old analog TV quality, very surreal stuff. It messes with my sense of time and adds a bit to the horror.

Now you really got to think how the hell would it play like since the original Psx had no joysticks. Only later control models had the joystick and even then from what i remember only a handfull of games even supported the thing

Doom on ps1 was playable without joysticks. It's not impossible

But the reason doom worked without joystivks was because the game was very simple and you could only look left and right now minectaft is a much more complex game where you can look anywhere you desire and you could try and make workarounds but it would just be too clunky to be actually enjoyable
