Thanks for the informative video. Would you have issue with plate carriers, instead of battle belts? If the mags and blowout kit and dump pouches fit on the carrier....Or would a plate carrier and belt work? Just curious.
Yes! Please bring a zeroed rifle so you don’t have to waste everyone’s time waiting for you. Unless it’s a introductory class, where they’re teaching that sort of thing. And just be prepared overall.
You said that you have to zero using the magnifier adjustments separately. The EOTech manual says "it may be necessary to reposition the reticle image into the center of the magnifier window. This is aesthetic in nature and has no affect on the sight’s zero."
Instead of trusting that, go shoot it and see. The magnifier not being centered creates parallax. Just like anytime you add another lens into a situation where there's light going through it. But you do what you want
That's what he means, zero you're RDS then use the magnifier and center (zero) it to you're RDS.... But shooting a zeroed RDS without centering the reticle looking through it will be like shooting a cheap RDS without being centered and you'll experience some parallax shift.
Outstanding video. ...Also, bring a positive attitude and a humble spirit. If you were there to "BAMF out" then you'd be active and not in a class. You paid good money to learn and so did everyone else in the class. #TheMoreYouKnow
Agreed. Absolutely nuts the amount of people who just casually don’t have their rifles zeroed. I get anxiety whenever I get new ammo in and haven’t zeroed yet lol
Sometimes it's an introduction to basic rifle ( some people call rifle or carbine 1) where it has to be taught how to zero. The shooter will learn twist and ammo selection. . I don't even let optics come to the first basic class. People are going to learn what they are capable of with a plain jane iron sighted AR platform. Optics and other equipment considerations are reviewed at the end of class.
Hopefully new shooters stumble across this video. The zeroing portion of any rifle class can absolutely eat up a sizeable portion of class unnecessarily.
How do you reccommed bringing your ammo, Shipping to the site or instructor? I know brining weight/ ammo restrictions with the TSA is a bitch or just pay the extra weight fees?
Most airlines, all that I’m aware, do not allow you to exceed 11lbs of ammo. There is no option to pay a weight overage for ammo. I’d suggest shipping to the host, if they’re willing to, or your hotel. As long as you have a reservation, call them and let them know it’s coming for you, it’s generally not an issue.
Wait, wait, wait...if I zero my red dot then flip my magnifier over and make corrections through the magnifier, I have essentially zeroed with the magnifier, just added a step? What's the difference?
any adjustments made to a magnifier does nothing to the red dot at all. you cannot zero or "make corrections" through the magnifier. impossible. what you are doing is just adjusting the image/view of dot within the magnifier itself.
@@mcalixtro82 this 💯 I dont know why people think the adjustments on the magnifier change POI. If your POI changes when using a magnifier it's due to "head placement" parallax.
@@KineticConsulting have you seen cases where there's POI shift when you flip the magnificent in? Are you confident the magnifier didn't just make them put the dot in the middle and so move things with parallax?
I have a 1.93 riser on my 12.5 and zero it at 55. if you have a regular or 1/3 the best would be 36. my 8" 300 blackout is zeroed for 25. pick and choose what you think is best for you though.
One of the few trainers that I would actually pay money to take off and go train with, this guy is awesome, one reason that he does collabs with lots of the same companies as Sage (A.C.) Dynamics, AWESOME innovative stuff too. Check it out!!!! Affordable, durable and great quality with new takes on things. Wanted your Kinetic sauce pack from Rosco... #goodstuff
The reason people don't come with a zeroed rifle is because that requirement is not listed in the syllabus, if there even is a syllabus. Most instructors are former LE or .mil. Neither of which qualify them to instruct, rather, it qualifies them for LE and .mil work. Which is why there was no syllabus to begin with. And if an instructor/.mil knows that the students at a class are inexperienced, just like he is describing, and that instructor/.mil shoots for the prize table with the students, then is that instructor ethical? Would you take a class from an unethical instructor?
It's in mocha bears course description. That said most students gaff off reading the course description and show up and become the boat anchor of the class.
Is there preloaded med kits with quality stuff in it? I’d like something with everything already in it but I don’t want something that could fail me in an emergency
I still don’t understand why people won’t clean and/or prep their rifle/pistol before a training class. It’s mind boggling to me, you’re spending serious money to learn and get reps, why greater the risk of a gun stoppage for such a stupid unnecessary reason. 🤦🏽♂️
@@recentlydeleted I disagree. You can test certain things, like holsters or ear pro, etc. Don't come there with firearms you've never shot or only shot to zero. I see it in almost every class as a teacher or student. They usually don't know a gun doesn't function with that ammo or at all and end up having to buy other ammo, or borrowing stuff.
@KineticConsulting that's the point of a class. 90% of shooters can't just go to the range to test things. That's WHY people go to classes. To learn what works and what doesn't work. The whole point is to learn
@recentlydeleted yes, the point is to learn to shoot and how to practice shooting. Then you go practice on your own. You should be regularly practicing or testing new stuff on your own man. That's how you get better.
I just noticed same with mine. Been watching this page for a while and after reading your comment I checked real quick and sure enough it said “subscribe” and I know damn well I’ve been subscribed for months now. Went ahead and clicked subscribe again but it’s wild how that only happens to channels against the narrative/agenda
Did you know that with a 14.5" you can achieve the same or less spread than a 16" using a 36 yard zero (or 57 with a unity mount) group out to 300yards with a 50y zero.¿ A 16" usually gets a little over or 6" spread out to 300y but if your running a 14.5 since you have lower velocity it becomes a 50/250y zero and only has right under 6" of vertical shift out to 300...... What barrel length/optic hieght and zero do you guys use.!.?.¿.?
I appreciate amount of ranger green in your kit
It is the way. RG all the way.

The zeroing process in every class grinds my gears. Your shit should be zeroed beforehand, even in a carbine 1 course.

Watch my video on traveling with firearms. I do not adhere to the weight limit

No classes in or around Texas?????
Not until 2024. They were late to get on my schedule. I was just there in Oct and Dec.

A backup rifle - like a SCAR...
Do you like that Triji 3x more than something like an EoTech or Sig 5x?
It has a very forgiving eye box so I do like it more than most others.

Totally fine to use an lpvo
What distance for a zero?
Depends on what you can shoot. I use 100 or a 50yd
