in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Gold: John Whitaker (GBR) & Milton
Silver: Michael Whitaker (GBR) & Monsanta (ISH)
Bronze: Jos Lansink (NED) & Felix
Top notch horse, a type that is sadly extinct from show jumping now. Class rider and partnership between John and Milton, one that I don't think can be rivaled. Very sad that a lot of riders don't have a bond like this with their horses.
I was obsessed with Milton as a child. Had a poster with him over my bed. Haha ok ok.
Me too 😅 !
A beautiful, stunning horse who is dearly missed.
Milton makes jumping look effortless - he just FLOATS over the jumps! Amazing horse!
I saw this in real time! Ï even make a beautifull photo from Milton whit his Groom holding him and i give Milton a big hug, hè is satch a lovely horse. Greetings from the Netherlands
Amazing that he and Gem Twist competed at the same time; we were blessed!
Such a gorgeous horse and amazing jumper
omg he's amazing!!!!!!! and also beautiful!!
♥rip milton ill always remember u :'( Simply the best xxx♥
Milton was an amazing horse ❤love him❤
A rare jumping performance in these days. So smooth, so calm, so satisfying... No obvious fight with rider's hand and horse's mouth. I wish it will be back in World Shows again.
Modern style with crazy bits in mouth or on nose makes me sad. Its not good icon for young riders and beginners!!!!
showjmping is very beautiful to watch, as is every equestrian sport - seeing the horse and rider working together is breathtaking. But there is just something speacial about Milton - thumbs up if you agree?
Will always admire the bond between them❣watching John Whitaker at Rio now 😻😪xx
Milton, Simply the best ♥
(..& I used 2 have pictures of Marius & Caroline Bradley stuck 2 my bedroom wall, over the horse wallpaper.. the days!) Thanx 4 the info. & the link.. & taking me back - much appreciated, altho a little scary when I realise how many great people & horses have passed away & how time's shifting on!! R.I.P. all :-)
Such a fab horse. Loved and wanted by all. 'Next' Milton xxx
Milton was such an amazing horse, He died just a few weeks before I was born, so didn't get to see him, but I wish I could... For everyone who doesn't know. he was a Dutch warmblood. He never got any foals though, since he was a gelding :(
Everyone loves this horse
That horse is breathtakingly beautiful!!!!
this is just amazing. he jumps the jumps like he is jumping crossrails!
questo cavallo è spettacolare *-*
when i was in göteborg horseshow I'll get a hug from John Whitaker :3
Milton is aswome and beautiful
That horse... ♥
Think he's a Connemara/ thoroughbred/ Irish draught cross - f. knows how the mix was so perfect - maybe the irish draft n the Conemara were mixed with the other half thoroughbred 2 heat it up! n a perfect balance of fine temperament, athlete & durability were created!! He's amazing :-) He seems so lovable 2 n i remember that his real owners who always kept him, really loved him beyond all the money offered n didn't want him 2 fly 2 the Olympics cos they didn't want him 2 fly X
the perfect horse and rider! but nice to see even john makes mistakes, theres hope for the rest of us so :)
Instead of 'thinking' why does nobody do research? He was only 1 of the many breeds you mentioned. " Foaled in 1977, Milton was by Dutch Warmblood Marius, out of Irish Draught Aston Answers. His lines included successful sportshorses in both paternal and maternal lines, his sire being an international level and his dam a Grade A national level jumper."
@subimedia - Breeding - look at the All Breed link in description (it's a great site for breeding info) - you will see Milton has Anglo Arab blood and a good bit of Thoroughbred blood (inc. top sires that can be found in jumpers THE TETRARCH ("spotted wonder") and PHALARIS, on his Dam side. Also Miton's Dam was a Grade A jumper and his Grand Dam won the Foxhunter Final. Milton's sire Marius was an international winner with Caroline Bradley r.i.p.
Milton... YOU ARE A THE BEST HORSE!:´( Too bad you were us you :( MISS YOU!all people!
Yes - can c the Anglo Arab in the neck arch & the motion now u mention it. Many yrs ago i used 2 ride a 3/4 Arab & altho he was the clumsiest horse in walk & trot i've ever ridden, once he moved up a gear into canter & beyond, he simply floated & his balance just found its equilibrium. He was a good jumper 2, altho he was only a pony. I remember Marius aswell... just! That was back in the day when they showed showjumping on terestrial T.V. & it was an arena 4 big sponsorship..
There is a legend right there, thoughs jumps are huge! I can jump pretty high on my horse but not that high. Milton cleared them like a trot pole
we were close to buy a pony who they called Mini Milton. Both are white and they jump the same. But that pony came from England and we from Sweden.
A Great Jumper came come from "anywhere". John Whitaker (GBR) had a South African Speed International Winner "Salvador
#Correcttion "South American bred International Speed Horse. I forget things. getting old. lol Then John had Gammon, Hopsctoch etc etc etc Unbelievable rider. The late Caroline Bradley herself a Great rider "liked John Wheitater so much Milton had to go to John W. after C.B. passed away. But Stephen Hadley rode MILTON for a little while. John Whitaker one of the GREATEST S.J. Rider you will ever watch jumping a fence. Just sit and watch. "Spot" :D
I was there
Impossible. Milton was a gelding. Gelded in 1978 as a yearling by his owner Caroline Bradley.
Ich schreibe auf deutsch. Ich hatte auch mal so ein einzigartiges Pferd. Milton war in meiner Jugend neben meinem Pferd die einzigen Helden. Mein Pferd hieß up to date. Gruß kati ross
And he won
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i currently bred out of a fairly distant relative of his!!!
sadly i cant keep all the foals but they sell pretty quick being related to him and all(there is a sweet 2 year old filly who looks a lot like him!...shes for sale though...)
wow! :)
his sire was Marius a dutch warmblood and his dam was aston answer an irish draught,
Milton was 16.2hh. Big boy!!
@spottiedotcom connemara are amaizng jumping horses and ponies although you may not think it ,
@finelittlefilly - Milton had 8 or more different types of Blood - Thoroughbred ( a lot) - Trakehner - Dutch Warmblood - AngloArabian TB (where he gets his Grey colour from) - Shagya Arab - East Prussia - Oldenburg and Irish Draught.
Of the Thoroughbred blood this inc. such Top sires as:
The Tetrarch, grey "spotted wonder", (also in Cruising's (ISH) breeding)
Phalaris, br
St Simon, br
Bend Or, ch
@subimedia - sport horse enthusiast's including horseracing, should hear that info (height) from the rider, trainer or owner - I'd guess Milton was 16.2 or 16.3 hh (I dont think he was 17.0)
Who cares of his blood? Horses need more than good blood to be so amazing like him. It´s a pity he was a gelding, if he was a stallion I would love to see one of his foals. :D Well, Milton is newborn, and his name is Levisto Z. Another white german show jumping horse with a really amazing character. x3
My fother pony are from John Withaker
gyonyoruen ugrik milton
I love racehorses but jumpinghorses are cool to (I am dutch) .. :)

Upea Ratsastaja!
My friend owns his grandaughter, his grandaughter is called Beau stabled in Essex!
Impossible. Milton was a gelding. Gelded in 1978 as a yearling by his owner Caroline Bradley. #LiarLiar

Just a question, he died from what Milton?
Old age
OUCH look at that poor horses mouth. Now if the rider could carry the horse over the jump, that would be something otherwise pure exploitation of the animals abilities!
+Meanders Horsingabout now now no need to be jealous .. whatch how he collects the horses head to shorten the stride length around the short course. then releases rein pressure over the jumps to clear it... great ride ... l would like to see you clear a jump half that height with your haltered horse... im looking forward to it
training a horse to relax the jaw and give to the bit . what we all call well collected horse is. shorten strides with little hand movement and then you can train a monkey to stay above the withers like seen in this video... monkeys like him pays big dollars for horses of this nature... they teach riders like this to bridge reins , that stops them falling over the neck .. this rider shows no lower leg skills.. but still wins a silver metal... shows you the riders lacks of knowledge and i can agree hes abusing a soft mouth.. thoe holding n counting strides to the next fence... these fences are set up in a way you need to shorten strides . alot harder than you think to complete the course'.
i hate running martingales shows they cant control the head on a relaxed jaw... standing martingales were advised for training horse 100 yrs ago , now its the norm . riders aint what they use to be... sad to see
i see your point okay but my jockey mates would laugh at me :) keith you jumping on a race trained high spirited thoroughbred. whos a proven track winner that should be sold to the meat market for its crazy and your going bridless your an idiot .. once that blood starts pumping theres no stopping that horse lol
+keith smith If they are crazy with a bit they will be less so without one. There again there are some that are so damaged mentally from their abuse that it would take a long time to ride them securely no matter what. Some that bad nothing will help them and I have seen all types. The whole point is the bit be they ridden or not, the foreign object in the mouth. If you want to use a horse as a piece of sporting equipment then there is absolutely no use continuing discussion because nothing will change your mind unless its your mates by the sound of things.
hey hes a breyer horse
Bouuuuuuuuuu juste 2petite caresse a la fin
That horse... ♥
