Amazing round and an amazing horse. I remember watching this on tv when I was a kid! Milton really was a star.
He was an amazing horse! We'll never forget u, Milton.
like a big big baby angel !! So cute this beautiful and georgues horse !! I love him he had a very good technic !
Amazing horse needs an amazing rider. I have followed their journey for several years as a rider and horseowner myself. Professional co-operation between them is obvious.
He reminded me of a cat jumping those hurdles, so smooth, elegant and flexible! He is the greatest jumping horse ever and I don't think there'll ever be one like him!
rest in peace, milton
I love milton and big ben! my fave jumpers! RIP boys
Amazing! Thank you for posting this!
RIP Milton... I know you and Gem Twist are jumping off against each other in the clouds, for all time :)
Wow Milton makes jumping those huge fences look so easy!
One of the greatest equine athletes ever.
RIP Milton we miss you x x
@deeallen2
Milton was owned by Mr & Mrs Bradley, the parents of Caroline Bradley, who owned and rode Milton until she died suddenly, her parents 'inherited' her horses and they were ridden by various riders.
IIRC Milton was by Marius, a Dutch Warmblood stallion that Caroline rode to great success.
Milton and Gem Twist DID compete against each other in the final of the Individual Showjumping at the 1990 WEG in Sweden...
@DnBsPendulum well said! You do not argue when you are in the presence of a LEGEND!!
Thank you soooo much for this!!!! He was absolutely extraordinary! I hope he and Secratariat are somewhere together
He's been dead for 12 years but I'll never forget him as long as i live! I stopped watching showjumping after Milton retired because there will never be a horse like him again! He was the greatest and I think he knew it, he was always so cocky and self-assured and it's like he was saying " Hey, I know I'm the best so I'm gonna give you the performance of your life, just watch me..."
Wow, the video can jump almost as high as Milton. Impressive!
Sorry I'm late, just wanted to say BRILLIANT at the Olympics, you lot were!!
Broke my heart a little that Nick wasn't in the top three. AMAZING stuff, and the dressage, omg. ENGLISH = HorseMasters. Always has:)
I was thrilled to see you guys have shortened your irons for SJ. John finally had to with Milton, it helped John stay off his back during that incredible, perfect, breath-taking bascule.
sigh.
anyway, thanks, Great Britain, congratulations, bloody brilliant..
(toddles off..)
omg.. ♥ he flyes! like an angel! so beautiful ♥
Milton ♥
We miss you !!

Fantastic
Milton, born in England, had a lot of different blood. Look at allbreedpedigree - search for milton8 - Milton had at least 10 different bloods - Dutch Warmblood, Trakehner, Thoroughbred (Poet), East Prussian, Gronigen, Oldenburg, Holsteiner, Irish Draught Sport Horse, AngloArabrian TB (the Grey colour), Shagya Arab - Milton has Dark Ronald (TB) twice - Milton's dam was a Grade A jumper
Dang that little horse can JUMP
at 0:04 three Irish-bred (ISH) horses with Milton on the GBR team - Silver Dust (ISH) grey gelding by Hunters Fort (TB xx) rider Robert Smith - Monsanta (ISH) bay gelding by Hard Study (TB xx) rider Michael Whitaker - & Lannegan (ISH) bay gelding by Hail Tian (TB xx) rider David Broome
@sockerbit
Doesn't he just
The best horse in the world
R.I.P Milton colic took you too soon
Milton 30/11/1999
me bday 30/11/1999
All legends but Milton has got ot be the best
Milton was Great!
@Icefire99999
Ahhhh, now I understand. Initially just took you for a dimwit, didn't realize you were just a kid. My mistake. Apologies for even engaging in the convo. Take care.
Milton was bought by caroline bradley she also brought him on before she died suddènly of exhaustion at a show.
@alieli76, lol, I read in his biography that he was a rather obstreperous colt. Can you imagine if they hadn't gelded him? He'd take off for a jump, and never have landed!
There should be a video of Idle dice as ell, What a team of jumpers that would make; God has quite a string doesn't He?
milton whaataa ledge :) not trying to jump in the argument but even if gem was better he wasnt as well reconised as milton .. please dont take it the wrong way but milton was a hell of a lot more famouse and he was the first horse outside the racing world to win more than £1 million in prize money. Its a shame we dont see many other horses like him :(
With Milton and Desert Orchid doubt if there will be Two Magnificent Greys at the top of their game and in the same era again other good greys Toms little al Rooster Booster and Venitia Williams Teeton Mill. Kevind Goodchild
Put in Tags: yt:quality=high yt:stretch=16:9 to get a better video picture. They are youtubes own video improvement tags. sláinte! (health!)
Klasse
hahaha in nearly 20 years the jumps at the hickstead derby hasnt changed!!
@JenBsja2010x He might of been when he died but when my mum went 2 get are horse he was there at stud so he might of been gelded near the end of his life.
no he's flying!
pah, who needs a pegasus? get a Milton instead! ;)
There was nothing to beat him
What kind of warmblood is he? He is a rather large, muscular warmblood. Stunning, nonetheless..
Actually, Milton died July 4th 1999. He did indeed die of colic though. :-(
Couldn't b 2 warm or he'd never win any pacey competitions - poss very warm but veering 2wards the hot i'd say..
Dutch Warmblood.
Uh, if you'd paid attention to my opening sentence... I'm not "attacking" you for your opinion, I'm commenting on the fact that the scenario of Gem cowering in the presence of Milton is not only a fallacy but a falsehood... when Gem BEAT Milton just about every time they were ever competed against each other in the same class.
And again, as I said in my last ending: be that as it may, it still doesn't take away from the fact that Milton was truly great in his own right
Learn to read, sheesh
Can I have a Milton?
:
Granted I can understand your emotion, but what you said is just plain false
Gem BEAT Milton in nearly every class they ever competed against each other in
Most notably the 1988 Olympic individual rounds, and the inaugural World Equestrian Games, where Gem became the first to be given the OFFICIAL title of "World's Best Horse" over Milton, for having the fewest overall faults under all riders combined
Not that this takes away from how great Milton was, but let's stick to facts
