In this episode of The Charged Life, high performance coach and #1 New York Times bestselling self-help author Brendon Burchard shares ideas for how to deal with difficult times in our lives.
This is Brendon speaking freestyle, recorded in one take without prompter or notes.
    --------------------
    SUMMARY:
    --------------------
    1. Set Small, Simple Daily Goals. When times are difficult, it’s easy to feel we’ve lost all personal power. So, a simple way to insert agency and progress in our lives is to set three small goals every day and work to achieve them. These can be as simple as taking a shower, going for a walk, or calling a friend. It’s not about taking over the world, it’s about directing just a tiny bit of our day until we can find our footing again.
    2. Keep Perspective. Draw some strength from the truth that there have been positive, good, happy times in life and that those moments and memories can return and are with you. And remember that part of keeping perspective is realizing you are not on an island alone - there are people out there who can help you through this. Finally, remember, you are the miracle - the fact that you can choose your attention and breath and choices each day is a profound blessing. Not all is lost or negative - there is always hope and you can make new choices.
    3. Ask, “What should I be learning here?” When times are tough, we often feel that we can’t understand or handle things, that we lack competence or capability. So, to shore up those feelings, be strategic and ask, “What could I learn now to better handle this stage of my life?” Develop a learning curriculum for yourself and start studying things that can help or advance your life.
    4. Be Your Best Self Despite the Difficulties. When I had a brain injury, I couldn’t control my emotions and actions for a while. I felt out of control. All I could do is set the intention to be my best. I forced myself to ask, “How would my best self interact with this situation? How would I view this, go through this, support others, and grow despite it all?” Sometimes, a simple and positive intention can expand our consciousness and connection with life (and ourselves).
    5. Keep Gratitude Alive. This is the time to get grateful for the choices and blessings you do have, for the people you have supporting you, for who you are and who you can become. The surest route from suffering begins at the path of gratitude.

Me too. For the past couple of months all I could focus on was going home to be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, nothing seemed to matter to me. However, I had a conversation with a young lady yesterday and she turned me onto positive thinking and in 24 hours I feel as if I have been given a new lease on life. Suddenly, I feel positive and optimistic as if life could actually have some meaning. Hang in there Raina, life is a precious gift, so we have to keep searching for meaning and purpose.
      Blessings!

What I have to tell you is that; don't worry, it's quite simple Mom is always in the heart !!!

    Story time:
At 17 I was homeless and on the verge of killing myself, and I am not joking...read that again because it was very serious. I had nothing to hope for and that's how I stumbled across Brendon.
These videos and his book the Charge was the first step for me to get through that time.
I went on to graduate college, debt free, top of my class, top in my college in fact. I went on to become financially stable and chose to focus on changing my family tree. To become that guy in the family that could be relied on. I am now a man of value and morals and I couldn't be more proud of myself. 5 years ago I was about to end it all, trust me I was there. Please keep perspective and know that if you have a small flame of inspiration, that can grow into a fire of motivation that will help others. Much love to whoever sees this! ❤

Im in my 50's now and had been through a lot of difficult times in my past life ...one thing i have learned in life is that no matter how many times you fall you must learn how to bounce back...it is not easy but if you do not want to stay "down" you have no other choice but to get up...it is about making choices...i had been depressed for half a decade and no one was there for me except myself but inch by inch i fought depression, it took me years to overcome it and im fine now...though i still have problems but hey that what life is all about, without problems life will become boring and not challenging.

Brendon Burchard, I lost my Mother 5 years ago today, and since then, my life seems to have spiraled out of of Control. My ex tried to kill me in front of my daughter just days after my mother passing. Nine months later, my Nana passed away. After about 6 months, I decided my children needed their father, then, the anger he showed became worse, scary. So this all happened while I lived In Ireland, my mother's birthplace, home of my entire family, right down to my brothers (mother and grandparents buried there) - I left Ireland to come home to the US, with the okay of the American Embassy with my two children, and my youngest was taken back to Ireland 4 months later - because Ireland is her "habitual" residence. After 3 returns back to Ireland within a year. to fight for my daughter to be able to be with me, I lost. He now has full custody. This all started 4 years ago. I found God, Hope, Spirituality and a passion that is going to be my career. (I hope) because I took the state exam last Wednesday and failed, by ONE point. Yes one. Friday morning, my partner of just over two years,.whom I live with - with my 13 year old,.has just said we need to "part ways". I need.to move out.... but - just before Christmas my car broke down. No vehicle now. It's gone. I am cleaning part-time to make some money, it's just not enough to save for a car, buy necessities, and pay bills such as phone and storage and etc. I am feeling so very hopeless all the time, and wondering, .when is it going to stop?..when is life going to stop kicking me while I'm down?
Your videos and messages are so inspiring, but it seems like when I do those things you talk about.....I get kicked harder. Where's my line?

My study suddenly turned out so badly due to my unawareness of it long time ago. I started fixing it for months, and thought that it would be okey. But it doesnt, now i have to pay back for what i did.
Feel so depressed ... I'm kinda of interworld person, i rarely open myself to anyone or trust people.
Year by year, i made myself become a good person, always cheer my friends up and get their back.
But when something goes wrong in life, it's hard for me to handle it. I'm kinda close myself and try to solve my own problem. Sometimes it works but sometimes not.
Since i saw this channel, all the things Brendon says just like what i told my friends all the time. But now i am a lisener. I actually did cry sometimes while listening to these videos. And now it's become a habit, everytime i get any negative things happy, while still seeking for some possitive things to read or listen. My mind just says that:"Brendon, Bredon ! You gotta listen to his talks"
Thank you for always trying to help us stay positive in life!
And now i feel much better, start to accept the truth and see it in a better way..
There is one thing, i want to say to all of you
"Dont rush anything, when the time is right, it will happen all you can do is accepting the truth and move on to make a better life. Dont give up on your dream!! Believe that and then you will change it forever."

It is not easy to feel normal on a day like this, I feel nothing is going right, but I know these problems do not come to stay, but come to pass and teach me lessons and make me stronger. When I broke my back and was told I would NEVER walk again, my response
to them was EFF YOU!!!!! You will never stop me from walking again.
EVER! No matter how much they tried to force me to accept my fate, I
dismissed their prognosis and declared I WILL WALK AGAIN! There was
nothing harder in life than making myself walk again. Today, as I
experience hard times, I reflect back on my tragic accident and realize,
if i can make myself walk again, I can accomplish anything I set my
mind towards. I just have to fight hard day by day and one day, I will
be where I want to be.

THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING VIDEO! Yesterday I was feeling so negative, sad and lost... I haven’t done much in days as I am struggling with life big time... I was crying for no reason (I guess it was desperation) by finding this video on you tube, I have to say my mood changed after as I connected with Brendon’s words. Today I am feeling better!
However I would like to ask some questions?
How can you make changes when struggling with finances? How to connect with the right people who have a go getter mind set when the mood is the lowest?
My tendency right now has been avoidance, I don’t really tell people what’s going on (I am ashamed, because I used to have a good life.
After the cancer I have been struggling with my present life, recently I became “sofa homeless”
When people are depressed no one wants to be by your side, and unfortunately this my cause more pain, loneliness and separation. Where to find the light?
I know that this is just temporary, and after this video I will apply the right vocabulary to influence my actions!
Thank you for this great video!

New to your videos and I respect your teachings. Focusing on simple tasks can help us pass from a negative day to a positive day when times are challenging.
Kindness and encouragement go a long way when reaching out to others, the shared life!
Gratitude I agree daily is important and a sense of humbling ourselves when we don’t get things right, no one does all the time!
It’s important to forgive yourself when we don’t make the right choices! We need to move on and learn from life’s experiences in general with compassion and understanding. Personally God has helped me do just that!

Lately my family has been fighting a lot my dad hates me and my brother LITTERALLY wants me to die and never have been alive and I feel like I can't do anything right for anything or anyone and I'm only 11 and lately I have had anxiety and I'm struggling with everyone/everything around me and I feel hatred and I have wished for this to end multiple times! Sometimes I really hate my life and no body really understand me I have a 7 year old brother who gets me in trouble everyday and I really want to do something but if I even leave my room and say hi to my family they yell at me I find my self crying a lot and turning to my grandmother and I said today I hate my life and she said you have to stop because you will die in hell for being SO negative and my Negativity Anxiety Struggle ADHD and I'm in my room all the time I conceal myself in a ball and in my bed because I feel like a bag of garbage because I can't do ANYTHING right (I feel like I'm repeating myself) this video really helped

I'm in my dark times right now, everyday seems like a struggle, I've lost the love of my life who still loves me and I love her too, but due to family circumstances we just can't be together. Some days I don't even feel like moving, when I cry I just feel empty on the inside. What pushes me farther away from thinking positively in this situation is the idea of what we could've been, the future plans we'd made for us that will never cease to exist. Everything reminds me of her and I can't even sleep at night. I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about this either. It's difficult times
I'm trying my very best to stay positive and get through this but I'm finding it very difficult. Thank you for this video it may not have helped me completely but it did make me think more positively. Hopefully the sad times will pass and I'll be back to the way I was but stronger.

This video really helped me. I’m not depressed but sometimes I do take the negative things in life too seriously. In basketball, I’ve been doing really bad and I felt really embarrassed and in school I’ve been getting bad grades and I’ve made mistakes in friendships and such and said the wrong things and I need to realize to try to be my best self, to go to practice and not be scared because I need to face the fear and try hard to be the best basketball player I could be and try. Also I can Focus on going to school and studying more to increase my lack of positivity. That is the person I want to be!!i need to think before I speak to some people and not get super sad about loosing friends
