    Also not true: "The other large cities are highly Americanized" - even the notoriously Yank-aspiring Toronto was, in the early fifties, at least, still dominated by the traces of its British conservatism, Montreal was as it had always been and remains to this day, purely Montreal. And Victoria on Vancouver Island wouldn't shed its high tea drinking Imperial hermeticism until the late 70s.
