thank you for delighting us with a snapshot of your bug tent setup adventure. in a world where creators are often too eager to create picture-perfect content, your honest struggle and laughters are a breath of fresh air.
It amazes me how resourceful you both are, dealing with these house maintenence chores all by yourself. Me and my husband, both city/apartament folk can barerly fix a shower resistance without a help of a handyman and you there fixing underground pipes!
I don’t think centipedes and broken pipes are particularly peaceful 🤣😳 but you handle them with such grace and humor, it’s lovely to watch ❤ thanks for sharing and enjoy what’s left of the summer
Have you guys ever heard of a citronella plant? Also known as a mosquito plant. I get one every summer and put it next to my back door, which my family uses to go in and out of all the time. We never have a problem with mosquitos.
Love the way you capture the beauty all around you. The fluffy clouds, your beautiful wind chime and the perfection of the rice being harvested give me such a sense of peace ❤. Thank you.
Watching this vid brought me back to my childhood memories of living in the countryside.Calm, filled with luscious trees and veggies, blooming flowers...it is a view to enjoy
i live in the countryside of Japan too. particularly in minami awajishima. living in the Inaka could be very boring sometimes.entertainment can sometimes be routinary. but the win of it all is the peace you get, the natural sound of nature, the prestine beauty of the surrounding. these are just worth more than any treasure one can find in a deep sea. i am happy to see both of you thrive. hope i can visit your cocoon next time. PS: am a fan of your vlog. your voice over is soothing as if am listening to a documentary series. keep it up! ❤
Thanks for showing the bug killer device, although you didn't comment if it is worth or useful. Mosquitoes are so bothersome, not even tell they could transmit bad weird diseases. I need one of these devices!!
I sincerely wish you could find the best house to suite your needs. You are taking such good care of your current house and land, you will turn an abandoned property into a loved and cared for home.
That sleeping tent is fantastic, I couldn’t handle even thinking of sleeping with those crawlers! Enjoyed seeing the rice harvest. You are excellent tenants, here in Canada the landlord is responsible for all repairs and many landscaping jobs as well. Thanks for sharing your life in the countryside.
I really liked your thoughtful edit, showing the square view of Jesse outside through the window, and then next Pancake at the window! And Jesses pick axe form is impeccable :D
I was hysterical watching Pancake help with the new anti-bug bedding! Can't say that I blame you- if one of those centipedes crawled over ME at night I'd never sleep again!!😳
I love these videos about your life in Japan. I can feel peace, tranquility, community and happiness in them, and they make me ache for a life in Japan soso much! It's a wonderfully natural depiction of day-to-day proceedings, nothing's overdone. Wishing you all the best, thank you Mika!
I just love your videos! You guys have a routine that many of us would love to have. I hope the recent bad weather in Japan hasn't affected you too much. It looked really bad in many areas. So hard on the people affected by it.
Oh my, Pancake is such a character! you really are living your best life in Japan. As a fellow Vancouverite, I admire what you both are doing. I hope you find a forever home.
I was nervous at the beginning because I didn't hear pancake's name, was relieved after seeing him! Wonderful little video as always, hope your summer has been everything and more. See y'all next time - North Carolina, USA
watched many youtube videos about Japan and got so facinnated by Japanese culture, cottage architecture, natural landscape and cuisine. My buckelist is to travel away from hectic Canada big city Torono to Japan away from big cities to countrysides where everything is organic. I croos my finger
What a lovely relaxing video. That initial shot of the cloud was a chef’s kiss to beautiful video making. I hope you did not have much damage from Typhoon Shan Shan. Thank you for sharing part of your life with us.
Jesse is so cool. I wish I was half as self sufficient with handy work like him. Every time hes on camera everything he does looks so well practiced. Pancake is one of the funniest dogs I've seen so far :D!
This whole episode looks like a Hayao Miyazaki movie. Love it, and good job! 😍 As cozy as it looks, i couldn‘t live on the countryside in Japan, just because of all the critters 🥹 We also own a Akia house in Izumo, and when we‘re there, i need to sleep in the middle of my family members, to be protected from centipedes and stuff 😂
Amazing. Loving the increased amount of videos, its great to see these things and the stuff you guys get up to, like the small festivals and maintence on the house. Love it all.
Love your videos, I just can't imagine living in the humid hot summer in Japan. Yet you make it see really appealing and stylish. Keep doing the great job 👍
it hasnt even been a full year since i been there, feeling so nostalgic already. thank you for those awesome insights. i especially like the shot in 6:28, amazing.
Ooh! My buddha. You never refill a ditch with spikey stones, you refill with sand and on top of that a layer of fabric that keeps the two away from each other, then you refill with your "spiky" stone to cover..
Just make a wooden frame that fits over the bed, make it modular and you can break it down as needed. Another is to just get a musquito net that you hang from the ceiling that fits over it. That said, im a big fan of using kit to close gaps and corners, and installing a home made frame that spans a net infront of windows during the summer, and screen doors. Thats about as good as it gets. A good tip for winter, theres these tents that you can set up over beds on amazon these days, thats a hell of a lot warmer in the winter if like you guys and myself, you sleep in place that struggles to retain heat for now
Whoa, digging up the drain tile by hand is a HUGE job, buy that man a beer or two! I enjoyed the contrasting shots of a farmer slouched in the driver’s seat of his harvester and Jessie soaked in sweat making me cringe every time he swung that pick near his sandalled feet. One of those two people was REALLY working. I liked the summer festival shots (I come from a small town and those community celebrations can really bring out the best and the worst). Finally, serious bummer on insects. Mosquitoes I know, but those centipedes are creepy - I guess they bite? Ooooog. Anyway, good one again, and thank you.
I like how your channel does not shy away from showing challenges in your lives and I like how you guys are making the most of it. Very inspirational.
Mukade is no joke! 😅
-Sprinkle powder around the house.
-Spray the perimeter of each room.
-Keep them coils burning.
Thanks guys for making 11minutes of peace in my mind. Your portrayal of your simple life is an inspiration.
Oh yes! I assumed i was the only one benefiting from the serenity clearly im not alone hehe
Jesse, WHAT you did (evaluation, planning, excavation, installation, remediation), and WHEN you did it (dreaded August), is heroic.
in flip flops at the start too

I love pancakes input to the bug net setup 😂
You forgot to introduce Pancake at the beginning!
I was overjoyed at the revelation that the tent could be placed on top of the cushions. It felt like a nice victory!
I don’t think centipedes and broken pipes are particularly peaceful 🤣😳 but you handle them with such grace and humor, it’s lovely to watch ❤ thanks for sharing and enjoy what’s left of the summer
Your videos always give such a sense of peace and tranquility; as always, thank you so much for sharing.

The tent set up was one of the cutest most heartwarming things. Definitely needed that this Sunday morning. Thank you.

I watched this 5 times in a row, because it fills the hole in my heart, after having to move back to the US. Thank you for your service to us weirdos.

That piece, describing not entirely abandoned homes reminded me of "How to" with John Wilson". Awesome mood and atmosphere.
We spend 2 weeks in Japan in July, and the sound of the cicadas brings me right back!
This is now the second time I'm commenting about Jesse's immaculate tool skill. First it was swinging an axe and now it's a pickaxe. Bravo.
I just love your videos! You guys have a routine that many of us would love to have. I hope the recent bad weather in Japan hasn't affected you too much. It looked really bad in many areas. So hard on the people affected by it.
This is the life i want to live one day. So peacefull, the nature looks so magical!
😆puppy helping with the tent, classic slapstick. Great stuff, enjoyed.

Wow; I'm always impressed with your videos. It's nice to see the two of you living life in the Japanese countryside. 🙂

This reminds me of all the summer chores I still need to do. It never seems to end, does it? Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
Argh I am looking at a long laundry list of summer chores to do 😅
Jesse is so cool. I wish I was half as self sufficient with handy work like him. Every time hes on camera everything he does looks so well practiced.

Jesse is a very dependable guy and I am very fortunate to have him. 😊

I dont know anything so I was just thinking, "wow, this blacksmith knows how to do everything" 😄
Happy to see that you are okay after the typhoon. Don’t know you, but that was the first thing I thought about when it came on our local news channel.
I love starting my Sunday mornings with an upload from you!

Love that glimpse of the festival. 1 pint of nama and 6 yakitori, please 🤤😄

The tent reminds me of the totoro scene!❤
Pancake was Missing from the intro...
hopefully an oversight, it did not go unnoticed! 😄
Indeed, it did not.

I find solace in this channel.
Pancake 💕
beautiful life. so lucky
Love it
I feel that drainage pipe work. We are currently digging a drainage trench down about 25-30 meters of road. It's backbreaking work. 😅
