- This video includes all of the possible ways to die in Laura Bow 1 - The Colonel's Bequest. It also includes both of the possible 'bad' alternate endings to the game and one of the weird things that I found while playing the game.
Ways To Die:
- Walk directly under the chandelier
- Fall from the upper level of the house
- Look in the closet upstairs (it may take a few tries or must be performed in a later act)
- Look around too far in one of the secret passageways in the house
- Go in the elevator shaft when it's empty and be crushed by the elevator
- Fall down the elevator shaft from the upper level
- Open the gate for the horse before feeding it a carrot
- Cross the broken bridge/enter the water anywhere
- Get eaten by an alligator
- Fall off of the dock into the mucky water
- Fall down the secret passageway by the fountain (forgetting to light the lantern)
- Having a shower (oddly enough you can still be killed here after the REAL murderer has been killed. They must come back from the dead?)
- Oil the arm of the knight and have the axe fall on you
- Enter the laundry chute and fall to your death
There are also ways to get stuck in the game, literally. Sometimes if Laura is too close to a door/secret passage way and you type "open door" or "move door", Laura will get stuck and be unable to move and you must restore the game.
Probably the scariest and most frightening Sierra adventure game I’ve played as a kid back in the day.
I feel like the designers just wanted to see how many puns they could write into a game.
I loved this game as a kid. So many games back then didn't have the character that you played be a girl or woman. Thank you Roberta Williams.
That horse happens extremely rarely and scared the piss out of me YEARS if not decades after playing this the first time lol

No kidding! I think it was supposed to be a joke on rodeo clowns and their makeup maybe mixed with people having X's on their eyes when they're dead? Super creepy though!
I just recently got my hands on both this and the Dagger of Amon Ra again, both classics and I'm looking foward to playing them both

Me neither! It honestly scared the crap out of me when it happened and I don't know what triggered it in my game.
It's a bug in the code. Normally it would load in a graphic (just created for that moment) of a plane. But somehow to that number inside the code are connected three images. So it messes up this index and instead of the plane u get the statue. the chance is 1 to 200... so every 200th time you enter the screen u will see this happening...

You forgot walking in front of the gate and getting snatched by an alligator. Not to mention the multiple other screens in which you can get eaten or drown. Personally, I thought the bad ending was the good ending. Because who really wanted to see Mammy inherit anything anyway?
Celie is the only one to befriend you the whole game. All the other characters are either toxic people or killers. The bad ending has an innocent man getting killed.
Both endings have innocent people getting killed. Who cares who lives besides Laura? They're all jerks. The only reason to get the good ending is because the Colonel lets you keep the jewels (assuming you got them). How does Mammy "befriend" you anyway? Because she lets you take a carrot? Last I checked, the only reason Laura was there was because she was Lillian's friend.
@@lonewolfattack8071 Rudy isn't innocent though, he kills the colonel if you wait too long. The game literally says Celie (that's her name) is the only person you befriend in the ending notes. I'm just quoting the game. She's the only one who speaks to you willingly and never pursued the colonel's fortune unlike all his family members.
I was happy to see the innocent person inherit. Why weren't you?
