NEW TUTORIAL POSTED! ua-cam.com/video/X9qqVTB5m80/v-deo.html
I made a better and more detailed video on growing succulents from seeds! I will be sharing a multiple part series of these succulent babies. Follow Along!!
Please tell me ur soil mix briefly
I like to grow plants from seeds because I love to watch the development. It gives me a good feeling to see them growing. And plants that I grew from seeds are much more important to me than others. And it helps me to learn patience (I have ADHD lol)
Leschwa89 yess exactly how I feel
Thats cool! how long did it take them to grow out of curiosity?
@@helllllo3 it depends on the species and care. This year I tried some cacti seeds and ferocactus grows way faster than for example neoporteria under the same care, so its hard to give you a specific length of time
I love that you ordered from Walawala Succulent Studio! I've ordered from them before. I've noticed that if you touch baby lithops in any way they die off. I was doing some research, a while back while trying to grow from seed, and the size of lithops you buy in store are usually several years old, like 3-5 years old. Never realized how slow growing they are!
I know I'm so late to this, but wondering if you had success w the seeds.
I actually just bought from this seller and, received them yesterday. I was shocked at how small they are and wanted to go to UA-cam to find a video!! Yay!
Now this is how you do a UA-cam video... to the point and I love the high speed parts. They show the process without the time wasted.❤️ I wish I could tag every other UA-camr on how to make an instructional video.. and cute 🥰
I like the way you propagate succulents. Nice video you have. Thanks you for sharing it :)
I started some succulents last year from seed. They took a very long time for them to germinate with only one that lived. After one year it is only a half inch across. I really liked your video.
Ya, seeds take forever!! I am definitely more of a fan of leaf propagation haha, but I'm so excited with how things have gone so far! Really high germination rate too for most of the ones I bought. What kind of succulent did you end up with??
Do the bag method and dont open the bag for 3 months and u will have better succes.
Bag method is mix1 part potting soil 2 parts perlite 1 part sand. Microwave the soil for 3 mins to sterilize it. Place in a pot with holes on the bottom wet the soil completely. Add seeds small seeds like dust particles dont need to be covered larger seeds u cover. Add the container to a ziplock bag close to let out as much air as u can. And dont open it for 3 months. This creates a little microclimate so u dont need to water your seedlings.
After 3 months open bag let it sit open for 24 hours then take the pot out and let it dry out a bit water once a week until they matures.
I was looking at their shop the other day, then happened to come across your video! Thank you for making this! I will definitely purchase from them now :)
Today I received and planted 25 Ferocactus cylindraeus seeds. I bought one in a two inch pot that was only 2 1/2" tall and 1" wide...and I'm glad to aquire it.
Hello! Thank you for all the useful tips and showing the actual set up and process! I'm hoping to start germinating some seeds soon! Wish me luck! Oh, and I was also hoping you would do an update video in the future? I would love to see their progress. Have a great day!
Cynthia
Luv your wall art! Thx for this helpful video! I’ve grown a tiny cactus from seed & would like to attempt to grow more via your shared method.
Thank you so much for sharing I just ordered some succulent seeds for the first time and trying it out. I've been growing succulents for quite a few years now but I've never started from seed. Thank you so much for sharing this information with us!!🌵
Hi there. Nice video! Thank you for this tutorial video. I’ve always wondered how it is like to plant succulent from seeds too. Maybe one day☺️
Wow so interesting!
Thanks for the demo. Very informative.
Thanks for your information really great.
Thanks Jess, I’d like to have a go at this and your video was very descriptive.
Wow, now I really know why I propagate via leaves and cuttings haha. Didn't know they grew that slow!
Great 👍
Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow!! This is a nice video... I've always wanted to try to grow succs from seed, but like you said, they're so expensive PER SINGLE SUCCULENT PLANT, it's hard to accumulate any good viable seeds.. this was totally awesome and inspirational. Great video, I subscribed also 😘
I'm going to attempt growing the succulent seeds my kids gave me. I have no idea what they are going to become because there wasn't a label. Wish me luck!
Hows it going its been a year?
Please tell us how are they doing😁
Omg there’s a lot to this. I’ve just put some seeds in and I thought I’d get plants in a few weeks, now I’m thinking of next year. Hope they survive the winter in an unheated green house in the uk.
👍🏼💕🌿great video!
Could you make an update video of these plants??
Stacey Manning in my newest update video there are different succulent seeds that I’m growing as the ones from this video died when I moved. Hope that helps!
please
@@AngelsGrove yee
Legit seller of seed
Smart work I really appreciate.
very helpful, well done
Thanks for the great tutorial video. I scared the lithops but most succulents love it
AH Coffee filters is a great idea, I had trouble trying to figure out how to cover the hole of my pots. I am learning how to plant succulents
Did you only use hummus and sand or some soil as well? Do you recommend the mix for all succulents?
Cool video! I'm in the process of sowing some haworthia seeds, quite a commitment but should be cool to watch
I think your seeds need more light. They'd probably take all the light from your t5(?) grow lights that your others can
Thank you, my echeveria plant had seeds over the summer and they started to sprout but they wouldn't take hold of the soil, I felt bad just letting them die
I love socculent plants. I m interesting thank you for sharing your video
Hi!! The video was made a year ago I see, I was trying to see if there was an updated video of how the seeds are now and i didn’t find anything. How are they doing?
Gently tap - BOOM BOOM BOOM! 😂👍🏼
I'm growing the bunny ears, echeveria luau, and others from WallaWalla. They're at the same stage of growth as your little babies are except I'm frustrated. This is my second go round with growing succulents/cacti from seed and haven't made it yet to a full plant. I used seed starting soil instead of the gritty stuff. Yikes, maybe that's my mistake. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the rest of us hopeless plant addicts! 🤗
Sharon Duso this is my first time with seeds, I hope they make it 🤞
I had the same issue. My first batch made it to the size of hers then all died off. I have one plant from my first batch and its a year old now and is growing super slow, so frustrating! My second batch none of them ever germinated.
Lovely 🌹
Niceeeeee
I am 14 years old ,from India inspired from you by watching informative your all video..
Thanks🤗
Hi! Love the video. What kinda of lighting set up are you using?
soooooo i got very cheap succulent seeds offline and got about 400 seeds with large variety, i actually have no idea how anything will turn out but it isnt gonna stop me from loving them either way
Galacticc Cactus :) there is a good chance it is a scam but it would still be interesting to see what it does grow 🤞
thumbs up for this vid
Beautfull flower plant
Can you do an update video from these seedlings? I recently planted seeds from the same shop and would love to see the progress you’ve had. This is my first time growing succulents and I’m admittedly terrified!! Any tips are appreciated!! 🌱💜
Michelle Seguin she stated to another.... they all died when she moved.
I have leds for grow full spectrum, is good?
how big are the starting pots? and do you transplant each one to individual pots after they grow?
2:53 gentle? Eh, not much 😂
I’m about to try planting seeds for the first time. Do you use any type of soil/dirt at all? Or just the pumice rocks? If so, where did you get your pumice? Also I thought succulents liked dryer conditions, but you’re saying to keep them more moist?
Any update on the bunny socculent? I just planted some and would love to have more info
Your video is good and much needed. I just bought a few packs of succulent seeds from Etsy and the seeds you grew in this video were some of the ones still on my list of must haves. 😉 Really cool, especially the bunny ears lol. Thanks again! (Btw, the volume needs a little work and I hope that's helpful and not rude of me to say.) 💗💗💗
Question:
Do you think it would have been better to use a more shallow pot or pan to grow these in? Or what about a seed/succulent tray? I'm just wondering why you used pots so deep? I am just beginning to learn about succulents and this is my first time growing from seeds so I'm trying to find out everything I can. I am wondering what your reasons are for growing them this way, because I want to make sure to do everything I can to give these guys a good start so I guess I'm asking for education purposes. 😋 Also, at what age do you introduce ferts to succulents?
Thanks for the video! Just to make sure there’s no watering involved?
Thank u maam for this vedio could u please tell me which season is perfect to grow saccule from seed
SEED UPDATE: I do not have these seeds any more, they died in -14F moving weather! I have new seeds though that I grew and have two updates on :
Seed Update: ua-cam.com/video/VdsRpzGAj8s/v-deo.html
Repotting Succulent Seeds: ua-cam.com/video/zGdXmxasgr8/v-deo.html
I noticed a lot of comments were wanting a seed update. I was also bummed these seeds died, but these two should show a better update!
Did you keep the seeds under lights during the whole germinating period before sprouting too?
@@IITrinnyTII I believe I did because I wanted to make sure the seeds were warm
Generally cactus and succulents seedlings dont like frost or cold
When expose they die or rot as same in this case
Love your videos
Regards.
Can you post the names of the growing mediums/where you got them?
How often you water them?
Thanks mam
hi, I want to ask. how many watts of lights do you use for the 50cm wall shelf? Thx
Hi how many days did the echeveria take to germinate, please?
Hello Jess. Im wondering what kind of lights are you using and whats the average temperature in the room you are growing them?
T5 and t8, but I am not keeping the seeds under the lights, just next to them. You don’t want too much light. The room is about 70 degree F
I thought that was a beer bottle at first! LOL. I've got a lot of leaves propagating, but I'll admit that it is so slow that I'm kind of losing interest. :-(
I completely get that. Succulent propagation is a task that tests your patience haha. However, when it works and you have a whole new succulent, growth is so exponential and addicting. Keep in there!!
I always have multiple plant projects to work on at the same time to make sure I don't get bored. Try and see what things you can fix, add, or change in your garden to keep yourself busy
I bought from Walawala too and I really don’t like that I was given less seeds than the 10 I paid for. I just hope they germinate succesfully
How long does it usually take for the succ to grow?
What type of lights did you use?
Just a little tip for watering these tiny babies, go to a Sally’s beauty supply store or amazon and order a salon mister bottle, it will be your best friend as it shoots a very very fine mist of water.
Crystal that’s a great idea! Just purchased mine :)
Denise Corona I love it as well as my medicine dropper that I use for watering individual babies
Great
Which Etsy kit was it that came with the lithops?
White mushrooms are growing in my San Pedro seedlings. Should I removed them? Or leave them there? I’m wondering if they are harmful to my seedlings
Can I grow a mini jade plant the same way?
Once you sow the seeds, when and how frequently to water them?
Baby Girl give me something newww .. yeahhhh
Yeahhhhh
Hi! I loved your videos! I just subscribed. I am not sure where you are located... I am having trouble finding Mineral Substrates. Where did you find yours to grow your succulent seeds? Thanks so much!
Good video . I enjoyed it . Are you using bottom heat to propagate your succulent seeds ?
No heat. Just the lights
When do u take the seeds out of the cover?
How much light should the seeds get while germinating?
Hi. I have a question, why does my leaf propagation of echeveria grew elongated leggy pups instead of compact rosettes? What should i do?
Aaron Cay they need more light
I tried growing some succulent seeds, microwaved the soil and all that, but the seedlings all tipped over and died. What did i do wrong?
What kind of sand are you using? I’ve been lookin and I found play sand but that doesn’t sound right, Thanks!
I used play sand just making sure there were no plant killing chemicals in it
hey! I'm about to order some lights and am using your Amazon links in grow light video description. Does the hood really make a huge difference? I noticed you have both. The one on top is hoodless...my point is, it it worth the extra money? Thanks
Yay! I love both. I like the hood for smaller plants cause it bounces the light back but for my larger plants that are taller I use the hoodless. I like the hood if you are going to be doing anything in that room cause the light doesn't shine in your eyes then. I'm so excited for you! I love grow lights.
@@AngelsGroveHey Jess... How about the LED grow lights vs the fluorescent? Have you experimented with one vs the other?
Rick I haven’t experimented much between them
How do keep the seeds from growing miss when you keep it covered?
Hi. Where did u buy Succulents seed?
Is it absolutely necessary to make the mix you made, or can I just use a very high quality succulent mix soil?
I know the resources I used all said to use sand as it is finer and the seeds roots do better in sand?
Is process same for lithops ?
Hi. So after a wk of covering them, we no longer need to cover them again with plastic wrap? Thanks!
Aya Suzuki a week won’t be long enough. Keep them covered until you see the seedlings get to about the size of half a pencil eraser
@@AngelsGrove I see. Got it. Thank you so much. Keep it up with your amazing videos!😄
Totally sand and pumice ? No compost at all?
Hi I am new to plants and have some succulent seeds I would like to grow. Can I grow them in cactus/succulent potting mix that is fast draining? Also why did you put a coffee filter in the bottom ?
MelinaEGarcia the coffee filter was just to keep the soil in the pot and not be a mess. I used a combo of succulent soil and sand for my seeds as that is what I had read to do from others
Hello, thanks for sharing. Please provide a list of cactus potting mix used.
Sand 70%
Miracle Gro Cactus Mix 30%
Pumice- handful
Did you water them?
I’m new to all of this, what kind of sand are you using? Just wanting to know what I need to get. Thank you for the great video!
Christine Stone I bought sand used for concrete from Home Depot. You just want to make sure the sand doesn’t have any weed killer chemicals in it cause then the plants won’t grow :)
Thank you very much for educating us on succulent germination. My daughter living in USA, brought me succulent seeds. I live in Bangladesh. For me what will be the best time, to germinate the seeds like you have shown? I am very fond of succulent and cactus. Regards
How many times a week should I water the seed?
Is this for any suculant I'm newbie
How can I have rainbow aloe vera white succulent and camarunii aloe vera red?
Can you help me to find them real?
Thank you
I am a newbie I started buying . Some young but w/strong roots. I recently bought a bag of mixed succulents seeds. I've seen they put them in mushed papertowels to sprout. I dont have pumice yet or sand. I only have cactus potting soil . I am handicapped and in quarantine. I want to plant my seeds.
I just love your video as its very informative but after wrapping it in the cling where do u place it till it sprouts...plz reply
Regards
Under grow lights. Also, I just posted a new video on this that has more information since this video is 3 years old. I hope you find it helpful!
@@AngelsGrove thank you so much...I even watched the new video, very simple and informative.
Hi where you buy seeds
I am thinking of doing a time lapse of Karoo rose but I cant for the life of me figure out how long they take... it says its fast growing but I doubt that. Do you have any Idea how long they take to flower? I might have to take a picture every day or maybe every other day. I would be my first youtube video ever, but I am excited to plant my seeds.
may I ask where do you get the succulent seeds? My mom want to grow them but cant seem to find them anywhere?
There are links in the description box to sellers through etsy.
Aliexpress, very cheap but takes a long time for shipping
Where you can buy the succulent seeds
How often do you water the plants while they are at this stage?
Once a week usually
Can you use succulent soil mix??
For seeds?
Where can I get the soil you used. I just got some succulent seeds and I'm about to plant them. I've never planted succulent seeds, just propagation. I live in Minnesota too, so I'm guessing I can plant succulents anytime of the year.
Adepeju Nordvik I used sand from the hardware store
