Anyone that has never painted wouldn’t know about grain and the drying process. The barn is looking great! Y’all are so nice to explain it. I probably would have ignored those questions. I’ve learned that people won’t put out a video, but take every chance to critique and criticize all of us that do. Y’all are precious people! Much Love and Many Prayers! 💙💛🙏
Not if you a cigar roller, but everybody does things different. That’s what makes the world go around. Always watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸
Danny and Wanda, the barn looks so beautiful 😍. I bet you're excited to wake up to fixing the barn as I do to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing! God bless you both! 🏡
I have some big poplars at my farm that are coming down soon. I am not in your area but I use a wood bore chemical to my sawmill lumber built buildings. Keeps the pesky wood eaters away from my wood.
Danny and Wanda . Ive been following you for awhile now and i love your content. I would really appreciate if you could be praying for a positive outcome on the negotiations on a 5 acre property ive found . Im feeling positive and i know the power of prayer . God bless you both .
Two coats are best. We are doing one coat to start with so we can do the ends and edge's. After we have it up and it's dried real good we will coat it again.
I always do the same thing when making anything that is being built for outside use. Stain, or prime and paint the wood first. You can never really get those side pieces as good as when the boards are singular. Barn is looking AMAZING! So well built. Going to be nice, secure and cozy!
The lignin content throughout the wood fibers gives the light and dark appearance, stain highlights the difference in lignin content as it is absorbed into the fibers with less lignin it dries a lighter color to create what appears to be a faded effect.
In the past I've used cedar stain and sealer on poplar and got a nice uniform color. But next time I might try the brown stain because it looks fantastic.
Your barn reminds me of helping my cousins put hay in my Uncles barn in Port Orford Oregon in 1968 or ' 69, 🤔 it was a lot of decades ago & my brain is a little fuzzy, but I remember my Uncles barn like it was yesterday.
I'm a suberbanite but my husband and I started a garden and fruit trees because of this channel. I knew nothing about farming, so I was afraid of buying farmland in Texas. Boy, what a huge mistake! I just have to trust in the Lord that He has a plan for us where we're at...for now. I plan to start a UA-cam channel and a community free event to teach folks in my neighborhood on how to grow. I'm still learning but I'll get there soon! It doesn't matter if you are a suberbanite or live in an apartment, do what you can in your communities. We are all God's children and have our own destiny. If you're a newbie as I am, I have to say that Danny and Wanda are God sent! I am learning about farming, canning, the Lord, and the appreciation of farmers that keeps America Great! Most people don't appreciate our farmers, and that needs to change! There's not one day that I don't tell someone that I know or meet in the stores about how important our farmers are. We have to make farmers as important as our friends and family. Farmers and trucker's are the backbone of American! Spread the word my friends with your voice, sticker on your car, hats, tshirts, whatever! Love you all! God bless.
Looks good guys. Glad to see yall got some help! But at the same time it's good to see Danny play monkey and climbing around.....won't be long before the barn is fully functioning
Been wondering about using poplar. Got a mill last year “just in case”. Glad I did. I just have an abundance of red oak on the property which I’ve heard is no good for exterior. I do have a decent bit of poplar though.
This poplar and stain would look fantastic as a board and batten on our tiny cabins here on the homestead. Is heart poplar a cheaper choice than the other poplar you mentioned? Thanks friends🙏
i had to use prestain on some of the material i was staining so it would stain evenly;;;pine is notorious for having the same problem;;; I was told that the growth rings vary from the way the timber was milled;;; depending on the part of the tree cut the growth rings showed up differently;;;the tight grain absorbs differently than the wider grain;;as you are looking for preservation of the wood the deeper the stain penetrates the better so therefore the color diff is not a major factor;;;;the only way you get true color match is with paint and that creates painting sooner for continued protection;;;;i'll bet if you ask dem cows about their barn colors they would kick ya cause they love it;;;lol;;;
So I decided to take my Husqvarna chainsaw I'm going to go out to the woods and cut down straight timbers and make my own posts just like they did for a hundreds of years in fact you leave the bark on it I think it probably be stronger
@@DeepSouthHomestead oh I'd be about 12 ft underground where I'm at with this ton of light dog good old fallout shelter I dug a tunnel about 10 or 11 ft down concreted the bottom of it built before about four treated secure all around box and all the way down to a 4 ft tall tunnel dug it out a few feet straight dug down another 2 foot in depth now it's almost 6 ft tall and that's where the rooms going to the right I'm about 6 and 1/2 ft under the soil and two and a half feet under the red clay and I got bottles of termite treatment so as soon as I get this thing done in the next few days if we're not emp yet that should work it's oh it's oak so it's a hardwood with the bark still on it slim bar it's not like a Cypress all brutally looking I know I tell you what if it was pine trees then things be ate up by all kinds of bugs but I'm so deep down in the ground now ain't nothing down here
I'm thinking there might be some fall out here in Virginia in the next month or two so all I need to do is stay down there for about a month two weeks at the waist and once that's done it's the radiation subsides I'm good to go right here at my pop's house on a nice little property out in the woods so we got a solid cinder block two story house it's all cinder block with the pretty structured inside a lot of areas to hide it that's where all the supply stays food water gear and I'm going to build this Little shelter up in the ground just big enough for a few people to stay for as long as they need to and keep just enough stuff to stay alive down there
Right now I'm having trouble with a little bit of water if she's down at the bottom of the hole so I decided to put some tyvek material down in the ground and then I put a few inches of concrete that stopped the first part of the tunnel but when I dug off the tunnel and went in the room part started digging even deeper now that part started to flood so I'm going to have to do that pray for me God bless you
Y'all are making some precious memories with the young folks! How wonderful that they get to be a part of the journey!

We will pray with you.
I absolutely love the way that your barn is turning out, great job Danny and Wanda!
great job Wanda -I would love that on my wood shed
Never used ready seal. Do you just put one coat? How long does it last before it will need to be done again?
Two coats are best. We are doing one coat to start with so we can do the ends and edge's. After we have it up and it's dried real good we will coat it again.
@@DeepSouthHomestead ok thanks.
Ready-Seal requires 2 coats and should be used on dry wood only. I use a 3/8 inch roller it goes on much faster.
We're not in a hurry.
😁🙏👍

It's me again 😂😂, I planted elephant garlic Feb 11 and now I can see one bulb!!! Do I need to put more dirt??? They have green shoots @ 2 inches !!!
Yes they need to be completely covered.
@@DeepSouthHomestead thank you so much for all your help!!!

Man you know I just went to the home Depot and the Lowe's and they want $15 for a 2x4 that's made out of pine
What is the floor made of? Just stomped ground or beton?
Sandy clay mix gravel
Barn looks great. FYI, I just placed an order with HOSS Tools and the
Promo code dsh21 has expired. Just wanted to let you know. Bless Ya'll
Yes, It is 2022 so just tell them Deep South sent you
@@DeepSouthHomestead I did, and they are sending my seeds
really nice people again.. Thx Again
I hhave heard that poplar is one of the most blotchy staining woods.
Poplar is the softest hardwood. It comes out blotchy, like pine.
