- I just wanted to take a minute and talk about a few things that might be helpful to an unexpected mushroom forager or grower. Of course I am harvesting mushrooms while I talk. Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to answer them.
So so true about learning and some don't have many look alikes and so easy to Id. Great finds brother, I've yet to find a wild lion mane or comb tooth! And I check sooo many darn downed logs. Awesome info Paxton! Happy Thanksgiving brother
Thanks brother! Yeah, even though we're in the same state the geography couldn't be more different. Yall have morels and we have the manes. Happy Thanksgiving!
@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Dude I know, I read before the cutoff line for the big yellas I find is right around Fayetteville here...its so so strange man. I do think you guys get half free morels down there though, a family member lives around ft.smith and she finds half frees. You're welcome brother and thank you also man!
Interesting end mushrooms, not sure what those are. How do you do spore prints? I usually put half the cap on white paper then the other half on dark and cover with a glass bowl for a while
I'm pretty sure they're the nameko mushrooms I inoculated with but I wanted to be sure. I wanted black paper because I was looking for cream colored spores but I only had tin foil which wasn't great. But yeah I would do what you do, half white, half black. I didn't think to cover them but that's a good idea as well. I want to do more prints.
@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Yea man try covering, I feel they spore print quicker covered. Have you ever looked into koh drops? I been wanting to get some, some mushrooms will turn color/drops turn color etc for specific species. Stuff isnt cheap though! But it can also help id stuff, for me it would be handy with all the darn shrooms I show and find lol. Have a great one brother
Beautiful mushrooms. Good info. That looked like squirrel poop 😄 The mushrooms at the end looked yummy, but maybe not 😬💀 Someday I will have a mushroom log 🪵🍄
Thanks! Interesting, of all the pooping animals I never thought about squirrel but you're right it does look like that! I'm pretty sure those were the namekos that I inoculated that log with but I didn't eat them this time. I want to do a video with the actual plosion ones if I find them this winter. I hope you do get some logs going but I know its a little more challenging there to get the right wood. Have a great Thanksgiving!
@@paxtianodirtfrog8947 Happy Thanksgiving 😊👍
