    You made considerate improvement over the course of the last half year. I can see you feel more confident and are more in control even when you're struggling with inputs with the gate change.

      Thanks so much! Yeah it was pretty interesting dropping back to ranks we hadn't been at for many months and seeing how our neutral improved despite the input difficulties!

      Thanks so much! Ultimately, we're trying to do our best to improve, so maybe that prevents me from getting upset as easily if I think of it as improvement against myself. Hopefully you can implement it some yourself as well! Thanks for watching!

      @@vontiban so tonight was the first night I got to get a real ranked session in (in a while) I'm on a new hitbox and yea .. lol let's say I feel your struggle from this video. The button sensitivity and spacing killin me.... I lost a bunch trying to not only learn it but fine tune certain things on my bryan. So during tonight's session I lost the first like 4 games in a row kinda badly and was just feeling like going to bed but then I remember this vid and I got some water and locked in and went on a 13 or 14 game win streak to end my night and my mind was finally just clicking with the new box and my new tech. So thank you man. Your videos help people so much. No body else that I know of does a series like this where they share as much thoughts and information as you. Keep up the fantastic work.

      That's really awesome to hear, congrats on pushing through with that level of success! Keep up the good work and again thanks so much for the support!

    I was actually annoyed enough by the circle motion issue that I swapped to leverless. Huge learning curve and I wasn't good at fighting games to begin with but the amount of control it affords makes me feel like I can basically never blame my controller. Wavedashing feels like a giant pain, but you can do electrics with really high consistency. Doesn't really matter for me since im 95% Bryan

      the wave dashing gets easier remember to stretch and strengthen your hands and try to be as light as you can while being precise to avoid injury and increase your ceiling

      By wavedashing, you mean forward dashing, right? I've become much better at doing electrics with a lever, though I switched to Korean from Japanese at some point, it seemed much easier to do them with a Korean lever. I play on Hitbox now, electrics are pretty much 100% executable now. I finally figured out how to do backdashing on it, at least for P1 side. However, if I play on P2 side, backdashing is at least twice as hard. You have to change the timing so much, and reverse the way you plink the buttons with your fingers. I was going to say maybe try playing P2 side to make wavedashing easier, but if you do that, backdashing will become much harder 😆. Yeah, it just takes a bunch of practice and patience and muscle memory.

      I'm glad that leverless worked for you! For me, I feel I'm too hamfisted to use something as precise as a hitbox, but definitely see the many advantages that it brings to the players who choose it. Maybe some day but for now, I'll stick with my stick!

    Man, I love Bryan. I tried playing him in older games and I miss his qcb+1. That move is so good 🔥

    I wish there was someone that played Paul Phoenix and did a video series the way you do on Bryan
    Edit: Joey Fury does similar content for paul. Though his last video is 2months old. Still good tho

      Same, I think I finally decided on Paul for a secondary character. There should be a series like this for EVERY character, or at least every person that plays Tekken 8 regularly, online ranked or otherwise, should post their growth/learning like VonTiban does. I mean, even if you don't make videos on UA-cam and you just play online by yourself, I think everyone who plays Tekken 8 who also wants to learn and get better or get max rank should just play like this in general. I think most of us don't have the patience or calm, strong mental fortitude that VonTiban does, at least I certainly don't.

      @vontiban  2 дні тому +1

      Can't say I'm gonna main Paul anytime soon but I appreciate the kind words! I definitely agree that if your goal is improvement, this is a very rewarding way to approach the game though. Hopefully you can still find some aspects here similar to Paul though since they're both quite similar as CH sway characters. Best of luck!

    I feel like squaregate in general is just better unless you play mishima.
    One disadvantage of squaregate is you need more precision, but that is something you get with practice.

      Haha! Yeah when you're opponent doesn't know what they're doing (in this case us), it's pretty hard to anticipate!

    I've always had square gate on mayflash

    • @vontiban
      @vontiban  3 дні тому +1

      It comes stock on a lot of controllers, even mine when I first bought it years ago. I just switched off it incredibly quickly at the time because I didn't understand it. Thanks for watching!

  • @KarlKognitiv
    @KarlKognitiv 3 дні тому +2

    My stick had the square gate by default. I tried the octogate and disliked it the two days I had it installed.

    • @vontiban
      @vontiban  3 дні тому +1

      I can understand that. I don't know if I've ever really liked a gate as soon as I used it, except for maybe a circle gate maybe? But octo is definitely not a very popular choice already. Thanks for watching!

  • @PrinceTrunx
    @PrinceTrunx День тому

    You can't tell another person which gate to use that doesn't make sense. That's like telling everyone to wear the same size shoe. Everyone is different hand movements what they feel comfortable with how much skill they actually have. There is no universal solution for a fightstick
