hey, for first layer i use 25mm screws and for second layer 41mm, longer ones yes, and much more of them, when you hit ceiling with fist it sounds very solid without any metal rattle sounds !

one reason is better sound insulation, ceiling is stronger, joints will never crack, better for inlayed LED profiles it makes no gap when you cut places for led profiles or inlayed curtain rails that this ceiling will have. as you can see vents are designed for two layer system
Do you attach the 2nd sheet to 1st sheet or use longer screws which reach the metal studs?
