- In this video I am reacting to my first ever movie on my channel! Your Name (2016). This movie was absolutely beautifully done, animation and story-wise. It's a must watch, if you know someone who hasn't watched this.. MAKE THEM!!

Two people on two different areas of Japan are linked together by a mysterious force. Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana experience weird things at night, dreams that are almost.. too real.

Suggestion for next reaction video, A silent voice
They forgot about each other because that was the offering MUSUBI required from Taki, to allow him to save Mitsuha.
You cannot get into the underworld without leaving something of yourself (Mitsuha and her sis left the kuchikami sake that represented half of their soul).
They did not however forget their Love and Feelings for "someone" because there is another force at play which is the Moon God (in Asian lore this god is responsible for tying people destiny with the red string of fate, in the movie Mitsuha hair tie is the Red string of Fate).
The Moon God is symbolically present during the whole movie everytime we see a shot of the Moon (notice, during kataware Doki, when Mitsuha and Taki are finally reunited the Moon is Full but where they are apart there's something visually "cutting" it, we see half moons like on Taki's shirt etc. )

4:13 fun fact~ Even if Taki/Mitsuha wrote their names on each other, it will still be erased just like the records on Taki's phone. The reason why the "I love you" was still there it's because in Japanese Folklore, any messages related to love is being protected by the moon Goddess. 🥰

Answer: Because Mitsuha is used to sleeping on a mat on the floor, and that was Mitsuha.
Truly enjoyed this reaction, the initial moments of confusion and when it all finally clicked! I've watched this movie a few times as well and I agree that watching it again after knowing what happens is equally enjoyable :)

After the very beginning, with Taki in Mitsuha's body in her room, they skip forward a day without telling you. That's where all of the confusion comes from.

Good reaction. The scene in the beginning (when she/he awakes and undresses) happens 1 day before the next scene, when she has rice for the breakfast and goes to school.
That is intentionally made confusing, so the viewers can feel the same as the character.

34:58 Twilight, gotta pay attention when the teacher was explaining it. There are several sources of the twilight explanation, games like NIOH etc also make the reference of how twilight is that small time gap between day and night when worlds touch. ("When you might see something that is not human")
Great reaction! I can't explain why so few likes when it's so good. I really enjoyed your confusion from start to end. I have watched and loved every video reaction to this movie and the main problem found is that because you are trying to react and talk at the same time you watch the movie, you tend to miss some important parts (like when you missed Taki returning to Mitsuha's body after drinking her kuchikamizake, it was him and his plan on how to save the town). But, that's the great about your reactions and why I thank you always for your work. Your reactions make me feel almost the same as what I felt the first time I watched this movie. Alas, you can't feel the same thing you felt the first time experiencing something this great, no matter how many times you repeat it. However, this is the closest you can get. Congrats.

You'll enjoy rewatching this movie and picking up the details you missed the first time. The staff behind the movie really put in so much effort into everything. (Like for example, notice how Taki and Mitsuha act normally vs when in each other's bodies... their movements, mannerisms, etc. are all different.)
To reply to both of your comments in one, I did get to rewatch this movie when I edited it. While I didn't point out that I caught it (with text over the video during editing), I understood the starting scene where the teacher was explaining about the twilight and seeing it mentioned a few more times and even right at the scene I understand now, after editing that is why they were able to see each other. I appreciate you taking the time to explain, I will for sure have to rewatch it (while not editing) to try and see if there's more that I didn't catch even during my editing (which I'm sure there was plenty I missed).
They also like to make character cameos in other anime movies. In 'Your Name', the teacher is a cameo and was the main character in 'The Garden of Words' while Taki and Mitsuha made their cameos on the movie 'Weathering with You'

I've never been into a relationship so i never bothered watching this movie even though it was so hyped by everyone as i thought it would be only about love and all that stuff and i felt like i won't be able to connect with it,
But Damn...
I m so glad that i finally watched it and couldn't get over it for a month, as i can connect with the feeling of missing something or someone which i don't even know if it exist, there's just something missing in my life, without which this life feels so meaningless and empty.

If you love stories told out of order, I highly recommend BACCANO in english subbed! It's a hidden gem anime I wish more ppl knew about it! It's in my top 3 with One Piece and Gintama!
"BACCANO!" is brilliant, but can be very confusing as it's a completely mixed up narrative - symbolising the piecing past events together from reports and clippings. Another cool aspect of it is that, despite being character driven, there is no main protagonist - instead it follows about a dozen characters with each being fleshed out.
Don't feel sorry for feeling confused at the beginning. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one that felt lost the first time I saw it 😂😂 And I agree, the movie is absolutely beautiful ❤️
If you’ve never watched “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” I highly recommend it! It’s got the same story telling as this, and is just as good!! 😁

Btw, a red thread is used in many cultures to represent destiny and if I'm not mistaken in Japan it is said that two people destined to meet are connected by an invisible red thread tied around their pinkies. That's why her red bow and all the thread imaginery in the movie is so relevant.
I think that is the best anime ever, the Disney ones are light years behind

24:35+ The sheer amount of the superiority of this sub! In the other one I watched, rather than "This is Yotsuhás and this is MItsuha´s", it said "this is my sisters and this is mine" as if it wasn't Taki speaking.

I will say, those first two were most definitely on my list of movies. I personally am a friend and fan of Dos Cavazos and they watched them and said they were amazing.
