It’s weird how the bass isn’t immediately present in the raw edit, it sneaks in later. These string players are killer, especially for how few of them there are. Listening to the goldsmith theme in Picard you could barely hear them doing the runs and when you could it wasn’t with nearly this much vigour.
i absolutely LOVE how loud and bold those strings are in the raw edit!! the way they seem to shout out those high notes with a proud confidence is really cool and it just sounds amazing!!!
I always liked the sweeping sound in the main title theme as heard on the actual show during the intro credits versus the version heard on the album had for Season 1 for some reason and hated that they got rid of it from season 2 onwards. I just wish a legit release of that version would see the light of day sans sound effects and Stewart's narration. Thanks for putting this together as this is closest I've heard yet.
It appears in a lot of early episodes scored by Dennis McCarthy, even up to Season 3, when he was told to stop using it. I believe the last appearance occurs in ’Captain’s Holiday’ in the teaser sequence, though later on he does sneak in a reference to it in S6 ’Rascals’
Same! I always loved the violin flourishes. Their absence in later seasons was regrettable. I look forward to the opening theme as much as watching the actual episode when I go through Star Trek every ten years!
The raw edit is something I threw together. I took the musicians speaking from a raw take of Star Trek: The Motion Picture's Main Title music released in 2012 and just slapped it onto the beginning and ending of the TNG theme. I wanted it to sound unique from the RECONSTRUCTION video that I did. I'm glad you liked it!
Jason T that’s awesome I tend to make some edits for my own personal leisure. I appreciate the work you put into it especially for the Season 1 stuff, which is my favorite rendition of the TNG/TMP themes
@@JTVFX1 "I took the musicians speaking from a raw take of Star Trek: The Motion Picture's Main Title music released in 2012 and just slapped it onto the beginning and ending of the TNG theme." Okay. Why?
A section of it is actually used in many early episodes scored by Dennis McCarthy, often referred to as ”Picard’s Theme”. He was eventually told to stop using it, making its last appearance in ’Captain’s Holiday’ (though he does later sneak in a hard-to-notice reference to it in S6 ’Rascals’)
The 1st trumpet player is really bad. He basically butchered all takes, but it's especially bad at 8:41. Not worthy of a professional. I wonder how that take could make it into the show, becuase you can hear the error in the end credits of several episodes.
I always notice it 😂😂😂 its like that with all theme music for me, there's a bit in star wars which has a similar fluff in the brass section (cant remember now where) but it always bothers me, especially as someone that likes to pick apart individual parts In my head
The raw edit is just the best Trek theme ever. There's just something within those horns that perfectly conveys the optimism and wonder the show has.
The clear brass and the vibrant strings. The strings get me the most in the raw edit
Where would one find it

It sounds great threw a great pair of JBL Headphones
Thanks for posting these. Takes me back to my childhood, the better days

The saucer separation version is KICK-ASS!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀 LOVE IT!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀
AAAAAAHHHHH!!!! THEY GOT THE EPISODE TRAILER MUSIC, TOO???!!!! YES!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀 DUDE, THANK YOU SO MUCH, PLEASE CONTINUE TO MAKE IT SO!!!!!!!
It's cool how with the unused theme, you still sorta hear bits of it with a lot of the music in season 1 and a little bit in season 2.

The “Un-used One” is epic as hell!
It's good but definitely sounds something more like what I would hear for a Galaxy Quest TV series or something else like that versus Star Trek.
I think it's like an inspiration to Bruce Broughton, who later composed the theme for the Orville, giving it a similar feel!
Dennis McCarthy actually does use a section of it a lot in his seasons 1-3 TNG episodes, often referred to as ”Picard’s Theme”
Fabulous! The album take is my favorite.
I hope the unused theme gets incorporated into Star Trek.
The season 1 intro is my favorite TNG theme.
Same! I always loved the violin flourishes. Their absence in later seasons was regrettable. I look forward to the opening theme as much as watching the actual episode when I go through Star Trek every ten years!
The unused theme was used for a hotel commercial.
Why? It's generic as fuck and will never surpass Goldsmith's theme ever.
The raw edit hits hard. My favorite trek theme by far.
Love the brassy sound of the early season main titles.
The first theme sounds startrek is trying to be superman lol
I love listening to at midnight on a Friday morning.
This is awesome. Where did you get the Raw edit from?

Okay.

I much prefer the seasons 1 and 2 theme. Something about them is a little more exciting and upbeat than the later seasons.
It's like the Enterprise D had a Roland D50 on every deck.
Haha, if only
I'm getting Galaxy Quest vibes from the unused opening/ending credits
The unused theme is just epic. I really hope they actually use it in a future Star Trek TV series or movie.

We do hear it used in the saucer separation scene, ep. 1. The production cut of Courage's theme is a masterpiece, after Goldsmith.
I like End Title Short Take the best. It feel like an extended version of the Commercial Bumper.
The Unused Title theme sounds suspiciously like The Orville theme

You are good. I couldn't point that out if you paid me. If I hear something that sounds off in music I just assume it was done intentionally.
There's also a flubbed trumpet note in the season two main take. It bothered me even when I was a kid!

Hah... I could never have heard that part when I originally watched TNG on a mono CRT TV back in 1987.
He definitely missed that G!
Nice
Is there an album the raw take is on? I have got to find it somewhere if it is, I love those strings!
Dam the first one sounds so similar to what they have for star trek lower decks theme
2:02 7:26
First song sounds like Battleship Gallactika
Voice: join hera syndulla n the ghost crew on the enterprise d and the lives of her crew!
