One of the first things that came to my mind about rejoice with trembling was Fred from the Cars movie when McQueen called him by his name
My nephew couldn’t wrap his head around “fear and trembling” so I’m excited to be able to pass this teaching on to him. Thank you so much, Pastor Bryan!!!
God be praised, thank you for sharing this rich theology.
I infer that “…and rejoice with trembling” mirrors the general idea of fearing the Lord.
Thanks Pastor, I need all the help with the Psalms I can get.
True enough, my pastor is the best pastor because he brings me the words of Christ.
Beautiful, to Him be all the glory! Thank you!
Thank you. This was very helpful.
This explanation is so helpful!

I was wondering I'd you can do this throught the whole bible I really enjoy your studying
Thank you for this, Pastor W. I love the grappling. Such a great and helpful explanation! I'm a bit lost around these Psalms. God be praised!

Rejoice & Tremble !
Well done! thank you for elaborating on this
Thank you!
Very helpful!!! I’ll give this method a try.
Thank you.
This explanation was absolutely stunning 🥰
It could mean this-we rejoice because we understand now. However, it shakes us to the core how confused we were. It actually frightens us.
You can be truly happy and humble about your previous ignorance.
Thank you, pastor. I read both Psalms 1 and 2 before watching. I only saw a few things you noted. It will be exciting to see if I start seeing more on each initial reading.
Thank u ❤
I think more people would read the psalms if we better understood how to do this
This is so good! Do you have the other Psalms? Thanks and bless you Pastor!❤
How appropriate for today's world
Pastor, is it fair to say that this psalm prophesies of the final judgment of the nations as written in Rev 20:7-9?
Luther one said what a frightening reality of God throwing his head back and laughing in judgment upon those who will not come under the blood of the lamb.
Trembling > Because you are sinful
Fear > Look who He is and who you are
Pàstor do we use the same 3 tips for all the psalms?
Yes indeed!
Is it not David who is saying he is the begotten son?
They shall serve the Lord their God and David their King, who I will raise up for them (referring to the resurrection of the two witnesses).
"The city of David" IS the name of the city of God. Jesus writes this name on the one who conquers (rider on the white horse). The last Adam (his own new name, given to eat of the tree of life in the paradise of God, etc...)
why did you skip explaining
you shall break them with a rod of iron....
and dash them in pieces....
How is this description about/ of/ for Jesus?
God's Begotten Son.
I've never read anyone suggesting that Ps2 was once the first Ps. However, there have been several who have postulated that Ps 1 & 2 were one writing. The beginning of Ps 1 is echoed at the end of Ps 2. It is rare in the first book of the Psalms not to have it attributed to someone, especially to David. However, most hold that there is no go reason not to attribute these to David.
The English reader misses the force of the Hebraic use of the emphatic personal pronouns in Ps 2. "MY Anointed" where the Hebrew word is actually Messiah. "MY King" and "My Son." This is not in reference to any Jewish king or any earthly king. History has no representation of the Messiah as King ruling all the nations of earth and having the nations rebel. Nimrod rebelled. Babel rebelled. However neither of these fit the narrative. In Acts, Peter refers to Ps 2 when attributing that Rome and the Jewish rulers put the Messiah to death. It must be noted that when the OT is quoted in the NT, it MUST be asked how the quote is being used. Fruchtenbaum in his "Messianic Christology" suggests four ways OT quotes are used in the NT. #1 a literal prophecy being literally fulfilled. #2 a literal prophecy by typically fulfilled. #3 a literal prophecy plus application. #4. a summation. Peter in Acts 4 is employing #3.
Some have suggested that the rebellion seen in the gathering of the nations at Armageddon to be the literal fulfillment. The objection to that hypothesis is that "My Anointed" is not ruling as "My King" over the nations of earth at that moment in history.
There is only one instance in scripture (scripture interprets scripture) that we see 1) the Messiah established as King and ruling all the nations of earth, and 2) the nations gathering to discuss and then to rebel against the Messianic King seated on His earthly throne. i.e. Rev 20. There we see the long promised Davidic covenant fulfilled where Jesus, the God-man rules from Jerusalem (with a rod of iron) all the nations from His throne during the millennium. At the end of that literal 1000 yrs, Satan is unbound and he gathers the nations to rebel against the God-man. Herein lies the literal fulfillment of Psalm 2's prophetic decree. The perspicuity of scripture.
Wow thank you!
Do you say Jesus is King?
@@nathanyamaha465 Yes and no. Yes, He will be king on earth during the millennium. But theologically/scripturally, it is the Father who sits on the central throne and is declared King of Kings. In 1 Tim 6:15, the antecedent is God the Father.
Jesus Christ quoted the Messianic Psalm 2 about someone other than himself:
.
Revelation 2:26-27
And to him that conquers and observes my deeds down to the end I will give authority over the nations, 27 and he shall shepherd the people with an iron rod so that they will be broken to pieces like clay vessels ** THE SAME ** as I have received from my Father
.
A man THE SAME as Jesus Christ except he is ... King of the Nations (Gentiles not Jews).
.
.
Now do you understand why God will laugh?
.
.
Two is true and satan i am through with you
