    If the lower looper thread breaks or the thread runs out then it's not just a matter of re-threading the lower looper and carrying on. Not unless you follow these simple tips where I show in detail what causes the issue and how to avoid it.

    THANK YOU!!! I was at my wit's end. I'd taken my serger to the shop to get properly threaded three times and didn't expect the fourth time would be a charm. Decided to see if I could find anything on the internet and this came up. I fixed the threading, it's working great, and I can't tell you how grateful I am.

    I've wasted many hours rethreading the wrong way and breaking and breaking and breaking that lower looper thread. Thanks for this explanation! I taped a note to myself onto my serger so the correct order of threading will always be right there in front of me.

    Best video of showing that other end of the lower looper where the thread has to catch before it goes into the groove and then through the eye
    I found out purely by accident that when you are watching UA-cam videos on a smart phone or tablet you can actually zoom in. I did not know this option was available

    I have been struggling to adjust the timing on an old Pfaff Hobbylock 794 serger, even with the less than ideal service manual I found online. Your video was extremely helpful to see where the loopers meet the needles and also the correct position of the loopers in relation to each other. Just wish the upper looper adjustment screw wasn't on the inside bottom, that was a bear to adjust while holding up this all metal machine! Got it looking perfect, and this overlocker is good to go for many more years! My first timing adjustment on a serger (hobby repair gal).

    Thanks! I am new to sergers and bought a 25 year old simplicity expert serger which I believe was made by babylock. I have been watching videos all day to learn how to thread it, and then realized the thread is already jammed at the needle plate. Not wanting to make matters worse I found your video and your precise camera angles, thorough explanation has given me confidence to give it another try. I am off to watch your other serger videos, hoping one looks more like mine.

    WHat a NIGHTMARE> So at least you showed how its suppose to work i think thats the most important is i wish you shoed everything up close working closly and clearer cuz im slow. but on my machine the arms and 3rd and 4th can be adjsuted with alan keey i had to re adjust both arms but on the 4th arm i had to adjust the angle the hight and the depth and now it works very well. thats why it was messing up and breaking needles. im just glad i ound this video. my dad asked me if i checked the bobbin -_- so definatly does not know how these sergers work. most sewers dont know how ot do machines. and this video i dont think it mentioned it but at least not to my memory but tinkering around and seeing how it works or should work i was able to deduce the arm was problem and it was off in 3 ways. not to mention making sure hte tension is right on all 4 which now machine works better tehn when i bought it.
    so thankyou

    Its funny. I only yesterday replaced the loopers drive gear in my White 534 [mechanically much like the machine shown here]. I had to totally remove a shaft (no easy task) which of course caused all loopers timing to be lost. The service manual was little help, so I had to reestablish the two loopers timing by trial and error. I “got ‘er done”, after about three hours for the complete job. Your macro photography is what I was seeing through my 5X stereo vizor.

    • @InStitches
      @InStitches  3 роки тому

      Yes that is quite a job so well done. It's handy to take note of the timings before you start the job but you probably realise that now.

    Very useful and clear instructions. I've just bought a Pfaff hobbylock 2.0 and have trouble threading the lower looper (yellow). I can't see where the groove of the lower looper is as it is hidden and I don't really know if I've threaded it correctly. Also, have had problems with the stitching jamming. I've nearly given up with this overlocker. I've just oiled it and changed the needles, let's hope that does some good. I look forward to hearing your comments.

    I wonder if you can help with an issue. I took the foot and plate off to clean bit now the feed dogs seem to be really low and also the thread is bunching up on the plate. I have re-threaded several times and the looper chain forms but i have to pull it from the plate.

    Thank you for this video. I've had this problem many times and eventually it got fixed but I never knew what the problem was. I now have another problem. When I changed the cotton from black to white I noticed that the left needle stitching was separate from the loops, and the material between the stitching and the loops was a little bit raised. I tried a few things to fix it but now the left needle isn't stitching at all. If I only wanted three threads it would be fine, but how can I get the left need to sew and be connected to the loops? I've tried changing the needle but that made no difference. Thank you.

    • @InStitches
      @InStitches  4 роки тому

      Thanks. It's hard to say but check the needles are right up into their holes completely. Also check the top looper tension is not too tight. Check threading. Make sure the threads are going fully between the tension disks.

    I was hoping someone could help and give me some hints on how to fix this thread issue with the 14U454B overlocker.

If I put the fabric underneath the presser foot, when the serger runs, the threads got jammed up. I saw that the feed dogs never moved when the machine ran. Is that normal or the feed dogs broken? Or maybe because of the timing? Please help me!!! Thank you sir!
