I'm a 66 year old bassist/percussionist from the U.S. and discovered NIGHTWISH 2 years ago. I am still blown away by this band no matter how many times I hear these songs and various reactors listening for the first time. Besides their musicianship, I appreciate the integrity they all bring to the table. Welcome to NIGHTWISH! 👍🤯
And... Nightwish - While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live at Wembley Arena) Nightwish - The Phantom Of The Opera (OFFICIAL LIVE) (Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, on October 21, 2005)
Love love love your reactions. Don't apologize for pausing ... your comments are exceptional ... plus you always run it back so we get to hear the best bits again ;) Cheers!
I really like your reactions! I am music teacher and I apreciate your thecnical comments. Welcome to our army!! I hope, and I'm sure you noticed Marco's voice. I suggest you to go for The islander in Tampere or The phantom of the opera with the first singer Tarja
Hi JW, One thing I didn't see mentioned yet, is when you mentioned that the harsher singing was probably done by the male singer. That made me chuckle a little. Try: Yours Is An Empty Hope, and you may be surprised :). Loved your reaction and the insights you provided! Thank you! Warm regards, Wim
J W....Nice reaction, thank you. Pause all you want, when you go back a few seconds on the restart, you get the vibe back. Enjoy your comments, yes they change the key and time signature many times in most songs. This one is Metal / Rock Harmony Heaven ! Look forward to your next reaction. Be well.
LOVED your reaction! Every time I hear/see Nightwish perform live, I am struck with how otherworldly they are with everything that goes into their performance - the songwriting, each of the band members' mastery of their performance, the stage setup with pyro and all the rest, Marko the bass player's singing, how well Marko and Floor blend, Floor's presence on stage, her command of the audience, her ability to tell the story of the song, her absolute command of the many styles of singing she uses; and she never ever misses a note. Out of all of that, I find something new and wondrous every time I watch a video of a Nightwish song, no matter how many times I've watched it.
Your comments/thoughts and general reactions to the videos you watch are fantastic, definitely don't apologise for pausing. Your videos are a joy to watch! And long live Nightwish 😊 🤘
I like very much your comment. It's nice to watch. Nightwish is my favorite and this Valkyrie Queen is awesome. I've been a fan so many years. I hope you react more Nightwish, please. She can paint all colors. Phantom of the opera is also very good with Henk Poort in Beste Zangers,,you should watch and react. Best wishes from Finland 🙋♀️💖
Real talk: your channel is my new favorite music reactionalysis channel. Your passion and knowledge of music really shines through your videos. I saw you already acknowledged the speed of this version. As I’m sure you can tell it’s a small enough amount that the track sounds normal for a first listen, but big enough amount for it to stand out for follow up listens. The “correct speed” link others provided will treat you well. It’s a big request/recommendation, but your comment about the choice of the setlist order always being an interest to you compels me to make it: you should consider doing the entire concert in setlist order. Or maybe circling back and doing a full concert play through after you’ve spent more time in NW. This show was about 10 months after Floor first joined the band mid tour as a guest fill-in. So for many people in that 82,000 crowd, this was her unveiling performance as the NW singer. All that being said, there was something truly magical for this entire night. The set and setting was perfect, the timing was spot on, some kind of stars aligned, and most importantly the crowd sacrificed enough crowd surfers to the band as tribute to fuel the performance for it’s entirety.
That's really nice to hear, Nick. Thank you for sharing that. There seems to be such an extensive catalogue to the band it's a bit overwhelming where to go next. I like the idea of a full concert reaction but would need to set aside a bit of time for that. 😁👍
Just a pro tip: there are bluray rips of the Wacken 2013 floating around that are flawed. "Thanks" to the publisher, the videos are some 4% slower than they should be. If you want to react to other songs from this concert (of course you do...), have a look at full display here: ua-cam.com/video/cAwtzi7Q3Bk/v-deo.html
Just seen another comment a few moments ago regarding the same thing. I will indeed use that link instead for any future ones. Fortunately , as I didn't know the song to begin with, it didn't have any negative result in my enjoyment listening to it!
Yeah I noticed a ever so slight tick slower here. Right from the start I was wondering, and it seems you can only notice it in some places, but definitely slower.
I happily possess this dvd "Showtime/Storytime". It is the best live concert that i've ever seen (and costs about a tenner for now). I very warmly recommend it to everyone on this planet who likes a great metal show and good engaging music. It's awesome. This particular song is a huge energy blast and Floor's and Marko's duet at the end is just phenomenal. ⛄👍
I like very much also your insights, theyre fresh and really good ones, with the things you consider alike to the band and some moments of the song, really informative! Don't feel sorry for the pauses, i think we are here for your comments also the enjoy of the songs jajaja. Cheers!
Thank you for your accurate explaining for my simple ears. Pause any time you like to. Hope we´ll see soon with Nightwis, Wacken 2013 any of them will do. Take care.
I love you analysis of the songs (Great JOB) they were the headliner that night with 82,000 people there . there set list was 15 songs and every single one was some of there best ever on stage. from the same show my I suggest the song "Storytime " this will get your mind working overtime
@JW, Nightwish Wacken 2013 live is an epic legendary concert worth every song of the 15 song set. Totally worth doing the whole concert as this is personally the best concert performance I’ve ever seen, and I grew up in the classic rock era. When I discovered Nightwish with Floor they became my all time favorite band and she’s my all time favorite lead singer (sorry Ann Wilson you were my fav for decades). A truly remarkable band my friend. 🤟🤟✌️✌️🇨🇦
Excellent reaction fella. The only better thing than watching Nightwish live videos is experiencing a Nightwish gig. Don't wear socks, they'll be knocked off double quick 😉🤘
Thanks for a great reaction - I’m new to your channel, so Hello! :) This whole concert is pure gold - so you won’t hear any of us fans complain if you decide to do every song from Wacken :D If you do decide to do more songs from that concert (please do!) - why not start with the first song of the setlist? It’s called Dark Chest of Wonders - it could be super fun to watch you experiencing how Nightwish does openers ;) Oh, and just FYI, this song is 17 years old now, so imagine how much Tuomas (the keyboard guy) has evolved as a songwriter since then ;) Also, since you’re a fellow Opeth fan, I’m pretty certain that you’ll really like the way that many of Nightwish’s songs are written - explaining why would make for a very long comment, so guess you’ll just have to take my word for it for now, lol. I’m really looking forward to continuing on this musical journey with you :)
I really like your style of reactions. You clearly know what you are talking about and I´m happy to hear you´re interested in checking out more of this incredible band.
Don't worry about pausing. I'm here for the reaction. No complaints because you always go back a bit. "I think it's time for a little story". Do Storytime, you won't be disappointed!!
Another great reaction and analysis! I truly appreciate your commentary and insights into the artists you react to. I am subscribed to see and hear your reactions and thoughts and that is what I am getting. Many thanks!
I really really love your reactions. 😁👍 There are so much reactions off Nightwish. But you bring so much new, interesting info! You have a complete new insite's. Let's keep them comming.
Great reaction, I enjoyed your comments on this performance. Just a small tip.. When you pause, go back 5-10 seconds so you don't miss something. I hope you will do more of them. Stay safe 🤘😁🤘
Oh dear, there are so many brilliant songs to recommend from their live concerts.. From this same concert I would recommend "Song of Myself", "Dark Chest of Wonders", "Storytime" and "Last Ride of the Day". Then there are the other fantastic concerts with incredible masterpieces and their sophisticated latest album, but it is best to take one step at a time, because this is a very deep rabbit whole.
Yes...the keyboardist is Mozart, Keats and Shakespeare at the same time of today era. They do not copy anybody. They do what they want and sail on their own Oceans. Nice that you were able to pick some nice details of the intelligent song writing.
Another great reaction with very informative insights. May I suggest Storytime next also from this concert at Wacken 2013. May I also point you in the direction of another band? You have mentioned you like prog so can I suggest Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. I'm sure you'll love it. Stay safe 🤘✌
I love the bit when you and Emppu both had that pursed lips expression after the guitar solo. It was like "nom nom that was some tasty finger picking!"
Welcome to the beautiful world of Nightwish. I've been in love with this band for 20 years now, and they never disappoint. I have a suggestion for a song to check out. It is not one of their "staple" songs, and there aren't too many reactions of it. It's called "Slaying the dreamer". Check out the version from Buenos Aires show.
Have really loved your Reactions so far to Nightwish! If you do decide to watch the entire concert consider doing it on Camera. The Wacken 2013 concert does not a have a pee break song for the entire show there will be something worth watching for you that will keep your interest the entire show. There are so many songs to suggest but I’ll pick ones people haven’t put up yet. Weak Fantasy, Dead Boys Poem, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. Would be my suggestions outside finishing the holy trilogy of songs that Ghost Love Score is a part of.
It's been my favourite movie of all time for about 20 years now. I must have watched it more than 50 times😂 . A few other films have tried to jostle with it for first place but it's still holding it's own for the time being!
This is one of the best Nightwish songs in my opinion, and now I can notice more things thanks to you. Don't worry about the pauses, I think you have a lot to contribute with your comments, and for people like me who are not experts in music it's a way to appreciate more the work of these great bands. Good video 👍🏼
New subscriber here. Well done, you keep your reaction interesting. Emppu, the guitarist always give the music what is needed, Marko the bassist and vocalist does incredible things both musically and vocally, he and Floor together are a match from heaven/hell (your pick) Jukka, the drummer, is always ready to ride and finally, Tuomas, the never overseen by the fans, is not only the most fantastic composer, but also a fantastic key players..
Thanks for an excellent reaction/analysis vid. You have a very nice style. Me like. About watching the whole concert; my suggestion is that you do the whole concert song by song. There are great songs like the show starter "Dark Chest of Wonders". Now there is a show starter song. Btw Ghost Love Score was song number 14 or 15 in this concert which tells how crazy good Floors voice control actually is. So, whole concert, song by song. Go!
I like the way how you pause, because you will go back some seconds. I am here to hear your reaction. Their live VD I can watch on You Tube or my TV :D
I really enjoy watching your analytical commentary on these videos! I suggest that you would do the whole concert in order from the beginning, minus Ghost love score and Romanticide of course.
GLS was later in the concert. Couple of songs. It's also an older song. GLS was released on the fifth album (Once) and was originally sang by the first singer Tarja. Tarja also sang "Wish I had an Angel" and "Nemo" on the same album. Both songs were in this set list where Floor sang them. Tarja also sang "Everdream" and "Bless the Child" on the Century Child album. As with many bands, fan favorites often get worked into the set list. The set list here was: Dark Chest of Wonders Wish I Had an Angel She is my Sin Ghost River Ever Dream Storytime I Want My Tears Back (Empuu plays practical joke during part of the song and she lovingly stares him down - she's tall/he's not) Nemo Last of the Wilds (instrumental if I recall) Costume change for Floor Bless the Child (minimal costume malfunction under her left arm) Romanticide Amaranth Ghost Love Score Song of Myself Last Ride of the Day Floor (third singer) was not yet an official part of the band. It was pretty evident she would be. Trying to remember - last day of July into early August, so this was likely in August for them. Floor was hired in October to finish the tour after the second singer was fired. You might find it informative to look up "Learn the set list in 48 hours" to watch privately (it's long). Troy was also not a permanent member. He plays all sorts of instruments including Uilleann pipes (elbow pipes), flutes, guitars (or whatever they are). He also sings.
Damn I never excepted to see a Lacuna Coil reference anywhere. They are the most responsible band for getting me into underground music. Wow it's been a minute. Yeah this concert is probably the best live metal recordings to date.
Your intro music is very pleasing. :) Hope you keep exploring Nightwish - so many surprises and great songs to hear. I see you know now it was the slow version - it really is a high octane motivating song at the right speed lol. If you want to get hyped it's a good one to listen to ;) at the correct speed that is lol. Thanks for the reaction!
Pause as much as you need. Most of people here have listened to these songs a million times and come to your channel to listen to your opinion. Whoever complains is just being petty.
Thank you for this reaction, I enjoyed it. Thoughtful, reactive and technical, top job :¬) Subbed and looking forward to more of your output. Have a great evening and enjoy the ride.
I think you are gonna be a huge fan of this band, and the composer, Tuomas he plays the keyboards and writes 90-95% of all music and lyrics, is referred to by many as The Metal Mozart. Every song is a different ride and journey, and I have yet to hear a song by them I did not like. Some I like more or less than others, but all well-written and performed by true masters of their crafts. Good reaction again, and enjoy the ride.
I think a complaint with pauses is when a reactor DOES NOT go back a few seconds to help it lead back into the next part. So as long as you're doing that(which you are!) I expect those people will mostly go away as well. But yea like others have said, we are here for your thoughts and you need to pause to let us hear em! You make the pauses worth it!
The 2013 Wacken concert of Nightwish is legendary. Floor was still new to the fans. So imagining that this was the first experience of Floor to this crowd makes the concert even better. 2013 was a good music year for symphonic metal. Epica has their own uber concert too that year. It was called retrospect for their anniversary. They play with full orchestra and choir. You should also check them out. Design your Universe live retrospect is a good start....especially for guitar.
I bet your head will explode when you check out their master piece called The Greatest Show on Earth (live @Tampere) But that is a long one. More than 20 minutes. A shorter one, 7 Days to the Wolves (live at Wembley). Badass track.
Hi! First of all; love your reactions! And yes, you must pause often, otherwise how can you analyse/explain stuff that I miss!? If I want to hear the song uninterrupted, there's enough ways to do that.. 😊 Also, having explained to me (who is not in any way, shape or form a musician) by a talented and obviously skilled musician that this band is doing amazing stuff, validates my love for them in a way...☺ The fun is; I don't know why I am so blown away by Nightwish, but I really really really am! You are too, but do know! Another subscriber here, yes Sir! My only regret is I didn't find your channel sooner. Have a good weekend!

Nightwish's pinkfloyd tribute, High hopes Cover. It's incredible!!! Definitely a must hear!

Thank you Brian. I've had a few requests for Ayreon now so I think I'll have to bump it up the list a bit :)
I love the bit when you and Emppu both had that pursed lips expression after the guitar solo. It was like "nom nom that was some tasty finger picking!"
Hahaha, I didn't notice that before! Well spotted :)
Good reaction as always. Now you can try Storytime from the same concert.
you got it guy, listen or buy the whole WAKEN 13 album. If you buy it you get the cd and a dvd of the concert
Loving your reactions so far! Keep it up.
Nice tee shirt- just re-watched the movie over the weekend. Amazing how well it has held up over time.
Go!
So good to have found your UA-cam reactions, big fan of your original creations as well.🤘
That's very kind of you. Thank you! 🤘😊
The set list here was:
Dark Chest of Wonders
Wish I Had an Angel
She is my Sin
Ghost River
Ever Dream
Storytime
I Want My Tears Back (Empuu plays practical joke during part of the song and she lovingly stares him down - she's tall/he's not)
Nemo
Last of the Wilds (instrumental if I recall) Costume change for Floor
Bless the Child (minimal costume malfunction under her left arm)
Romanticide
Amaranth
Ghost Love Score
Song of Myself
Last Ride of the Day
Floor (third singer) was not yet an official part of the band.
Nightwish and Jinjer, two of the best bands on earth right now.
Damn I never excepted to see a Lacuna Coil reference anywhere. They are the most responsible band for getting me into underground music. Wow it's been a minute. Yeah this concert is probably the best live metal recordings to date.
Who am I kidding, I love new people finding Nightwish. I am also slightly jealous of your cd wall back there...
Thanks! It's alphabetised too... 😉😂
Awesome job JW!
Unleashed Memories is still my favourite Lacuna Coil album and can see what you was saying regards to elements of this song reminding you of that!
Your intro music is very pleasing. :)
Hope you keep exploring Nightwish - so many surprises and great songs to hear. I see you know now it was the slow version - it really is a high octane motivating song at the right speed lol. If you want to get hyped it's a good one to listen to ;) at the correct speed that is lol.
Thanks for the reaction!
I listened to it at the proper speed after I found out, and yeah, it's even better! 😊
Great video again, i like these kind of "reactors" who gives extra information and thoughts for the not musicians fans. Kudos and keep going!
Appreciate that, thank you! 😊
Pause as much as you need. Most of people here have listened to these songs a million times and come to your channel to listen to your opinion. Whoever complains is just being petty.
I like the term "replay value". :)
Thank you for this reaction, I enjoyed it. Thoughtful, reactive and technical, top job :¬) Subbed and looking forward to more of your output. Have a great evening and enjoy the ride.
Very kind words there, appreciate that! Thank you. 😊
Good reaction again, and enjoy the ride.
ayreon : the day that the world breaks down
I think this one this one suits you really nice.
Not sure 90% is enough... The man is a mad genius and a crazy perfectionist. 🤣
I would be in for a complete wacken reaction ;)
Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate that! 🙂🤘
