Maybe if you work at a large restaurant or someplace that has one of those huge industrial freezers, you set your phone down to move a heavy box out of the freezer and into the kitchen, and left it in the freezer room? It's a bit of a stretch, but you never know... Or if you take it skiing and it's exposed to the freezing cold for hours at a time?
Nobody does that but people living in really cold places or viceversa hot places will find this test very useful, especially at the time the want to use the phone when they are out at the open
See the back after the scratch test from sliding it along the concrete? That's what happens when you paint directly onto brushed aluminum. People are getting it scratched up out of the box.
I have an iPhone 3GS for 3 years now and I have 1 little scratch on it's screen (lot's of scratches on back though), no cases at all and I always put it in my pocket. I really would like to know HOW your iPhone got scratches on it's screen after couple of days...
I've got the iPhone 5 and put it in my bag to school all the time, had it since September but still no sign of scratches on front or back at all?! Not to mention I've also dropped it numerous amounts of times too, still no scratches
actually, falling on the side is more dangerous than falling on the screen facing down (because the waves from the hit would be evenly distributed while if its on the side, it would be concentrated there causing it to be more likely to crack. ) that's why its unfair for the iphone.
I'm not sure some people understand the purpose of a torture test. The idea is that if it can survive an hour at 200deg or 2hrs at 0deg, then when you are using it outside, or leave it in your car in the heat, it should survive. As far as the scratches go...yup...the iphone5 is very weak in that dept. Def need a case within 5min of purchase or it WILL be scratched.
If you dropped an S3 flat on its face, the screen would die. If you dropped an iPhone 5 flat on its face, there's a small chance of the screen not cracking, but even if it does crack, the crack would be tiny. I have seen plenty of drop tests, all with pretty much the same results. Keep in mind, the iPhone 5 screen is also dead easy to replace. I personally have a Lumia 920, I don't have to worry about a case, scratches, cracks, uber-cheap plastic and wearing gloves.
He forgot to mention about the Tesla that the dash display is also customizable, didn't mention a lot of the "maintenance" which, there is only one liquid to change... windshield wiper fluid in the Frunk... and im a Tesla employee fyi
If you have an iPhone I HIGHLY recommend you get a Griffin case. A VERY reliable case iv'e literary thrown my iPhone against the floor to prove how good this thing is. only $30-$40 but the best case on the market.
i got a iPhone 4 for Christmas when they came out, best thin of my life, until i went swimming for it in a public pool for 2 hours without noticing, saddest day of my life :(
the water test can not be confirmed as a pass on the water test because there was no test to see if the speakers and or mics even work after the water test.
Jesus christ, it is too prove how durable this phone is and the amount of torture the damn thing can take, you are making things complicated, even though I am giving you the simple answer.
There's a brand called "Bee Stee" (I'm not sure how to spell it) and it's a foil bag with beed packs inside to put your phone in it so it will drain the liquid excess to dry your phone, so you should try buying that and it should work. Also try putting it in a container or bag of rice or silicone gel packs and it should dry your phone :)
No need for a case, just get a Zagg Invisibleshield! Your phone will never get scratched and it will have less of a chance of breaking the screen. I'm not even paid to say this, it's just a really good product. The iPhone 5 is too beautiful of a piece of technology to be swaddled in a case. Invisibleshield is the best!
There is a stock shortage, Molly Wood! A stock shortage! One that applies especially to the black iPhone 5 you're knockin' around the playground like a bully. I love you, Molly Wood but, during this set of torture tests, you made my stomach lurch more than a recent screening of Dredd 3D. WHY?!
Some people sleepwalk and sometimes, they put their phones in freezers. If you want a proof, search for Yuri Sleepwalking phone in freezer. It's a Korean video, and since I'm talking about Korea, their boat or whatever you call it, should've Samsung written on it.
First, she doesn't have a horse mask. Second, if you live like in Canada or Alaska, you would love to know that if your iPhone could withstand the extreme cold during the winter, which is coming really soon.
*i meant best computer companies, I have a few of their products, well, just a few iPods & my ipad 3. My last ipod was the 4th gen touch. To me it was the best one . The new one sucks. I don't like the new iPhone either. The last one was badass. BUT the torture test on the iPhone 5, the way the phone looked all worned out... It looked beautiful.
Do iPhone 6 and I miss Molly
Still watching 2014! I miss Molly!
age restricted :| stop this shit
LOVED this episode, can't believe the S3 survived the whole washing cycle... Unbelievable!
who fucking keep phone in a freezer usseles tests.
Maybe if you work at a large restaurant or someplace that has one of those huge industrial freezers, you set your phone down to move a heavy box out of the freezer and into the kitchen, and left it in the freezer room? ***** Or its just a cold day
Nobody does that but people living in really cold places or viceversa hot places will find this test very useful, especially at the time the want to use the phone when they are out at the open
-_- its to simulate if you put your phone in the car in the winter or summer
I like apple fact I'm using an iPad right now to watch this video
cold test: does she wanna make ice cream?
heat test: does she wanna roast a full chicken?
"Oh no, a bee!" *Throws phone*
So realistic.
Was definitley not expecting to see a Sunderland Badge on the side of the boat! Haway The lads!!
I got my iphone5 for my birthday yesterday and I'm grateful
that tesla electric car is AWESOME!! ( gas will always be better, but that car is really neat)
when does the amount of heat that the phone can handle actually matters?
Because this is an out of the box torture test
Money is like a tree leafs but this testing got us really effective.
I love the fact that she is so unbiased :)
Just ordered my Galaxy S3. Can't freaking wait. :-)
they did it with the galaxy note as well, like she said its in interest of the plastic to keep it from melting :)
WOW!! iPhone is a GREAT durable phone. So worth buying it no matter how much is it. ♥
you did the s3 drop test indoor and iphone 5 on the concrete thats gonna make a lot of difference
The security and the speed on iPhone 5 is great. It's only the features. There's only a few. And actually Andorid wins the speed test.
Anybody else notice the placement of the utilities app after the 36 hours in rice compared to the drop test?
The S3 didnt need ricing but she put it in there just in case just as every phone. It was working before the ricing
See the back after the scratch test from sliding it along the concrete? That's what happens when you paint directly onto brushed aluminum. People are getting it scratched up out of the box.
They should do an old Nokia Cell Phone test. That would be some crazy stuff.
galaxy s3 beasting it as usual.
"Now from ear height" *raises above head*
in my experience, ipod/iphone products seem to have a screen that breaks, and scratches very easily.
It's funny how long this video will be if the iPhone did not survive the cold test....
You should test if the camera and calling works after the test
It's to recreate the environement your phone would be in if your forgot it in the car on a hot and sunny day.
a lot of the stuff from the iphone 5 throw is probably just dirt that can wipe off, with some scratching of course.
Iphone 5 Versus Lava.Unacceptable haha
CNET is now AppleNet
Dude I will die for one AND YOUR TOSSING IT AROUND!
I laughed my ass off when she said NEGATIVE 255 Kelvin LOL

I got wood.
@Jared Macmaster 3 weeks now. If you didn't know, the iPhone 5 isn't a very old device yet. Still not a scratch.
The title of the video should be "What Everyone Should Do With Their iPhones".
@Jazrielle Baird yup! It's really awesome! It's super light and shiny and beautiful
we all already know that u can't drop an iphone without its going to go into 100 pieces
Tesla model S looks way too cool!
She's adorable.
These helped me decided on a phone! Thank so much :)
The sound of the iphone being chucked across that concrete makes my stomach turn... uhhhh
"One more, Ear Height." *Raises iPhone Above Head* -__-
actually, falling on the side is more dangerous than falling on the screen facing down (because the waves from the hit would be evenly distributed while if its on the side, it would be concentrated there causing it to be more likely to crack. ) that's why its unfair for the iphone.
that towel protected the phone alot. i call this unfairness.
A fact about Nokia 3310:
It vibrates in your shirt´s pocket, breaks 3 ribs and punctures a lung.
You didn't drop the iphone on it's front. That is a weak spot

Oh crap. I accidentally left my iPhone in the freezer. Thank god it still works...
The 900 was dropped from a car and flew out, yet it barely did any damage. You barely touched the iPhone, and it is destroyed. Nokia FTW!!
Part of me died when she put the SIII in the washer...
lol they didnt even put it through a drop test cause they knew it would completely shatter instantly.

if you put an invisible shield on the iPhone, it will not show scratches
The heat tests aren't consistent for each phone, therefore you can't compare them.
You never slid the Galaxy on concrete...
i got a iPhone 4 for Christmas when they came out, best thin of my life, until i went swimming for it in a public pool for 2 hours without noticing, saddest day of my life :(
What do you do with all those cracked and broken phones after torture testing them?
the water test can not be confirmed as a pass on the water test because there was no test to see if the speakers and or mics even work after the water test.
When I bring my iPhone 3GS skiing it gives me a temperature warning and it says it has to cool down...
why the hell would there be "breaks" there arent even any ads!
Yeah the water might not mess up the screen or the battery but it will mess up for sure the speakers and the audio.
3.19 In my country my classmate got that same temperature warning on her iPhone after being out on the beach for a few hours
freezer isn't bad for it, its just like cooling it to the extreme
First of all no one would put their phone in an oven in the first place. They put it in there for the heat test.
Never getting an iPhone, I dislike using them with a passion.
i wonder how well the tesla would do here in montana when its -40 outside
At first i though you wrote ''chickens''
LOL
Jesus christ, it is too prove how durable this phone is and the amount of torture the damn thing can take, you are making things complicated, even though I am giving you the simple answer.
LOL when she says ear heights. That like above my head height..
I hate how my iphone 5 so easily scratched when dropped... So unfortunate!
I've had my 5 for 2 months and it kinda is getting to the scratched stage now :S
Love the show
How come when I out my sg3 in the washer it sis not turn back on
There's a brand called "Bee Stee" (I'm not sure how to spell it) and it's a foil bag with beed packs inside to put your phone in it so it will drain the liquid excess to dry your phone, so you should try buying that and it should work. "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it"
Fucking lol.
When are we going to see the new 3th season?
i have an iphone 5 and its not scratched at all!!! ive had it since saturday
you have a 16 gb...the other 3 gb is used for system storage and built in apps
My ipod survived when it acidentally felt on my cereal bowl, it had milk everywhere
Nice program, keep it up.
If you've had it for 5 days and the screen is scratched, why the hell didn't you get a screen protector?
How can u compare a plastic back of an s3 with the glass-aluminum one of the iPhone,it's just not fair
why did you guys d the torture test on the Samsung galaxy S3 indoors and the iphone 5 outdoors on rough cement?
I think Nova Arceus meant "I lost mine. Iphone 4s are better than the Iphone 5"
i felt so bad for the s3 in the washing machine lool
There is a stock shortage, Molly Wood! A stock shortage! One that applies especially to the black iPhone 5 you're knockin' around the playground like a bully. I love you, Molly Wood but, during this set of torture tests, you made my stomach lurch more than a recent screening of Dredd 3D. WHY?!
I thought this was going to show how cracked it would be if you dropped it...
4:44 she said they're filming before the actual testing 20:29 she's got the SGS3 after the the testing
HOW IS THAT?
Some people sleepwalk and sometimes, they put their phones in freezers. If you want a proof, search for Yuri Sleepwalking phone in freezer. It's a Korean video, and since I'm talking about Korea, their boat or whatever you call it, should've Samsung written on it.

Wow, great camera in the freezer for 2 hours...LOL
Surge Protection? time to call the Myth Busters.

Back in the day, i did forget an Nokia 3310 in my pants.
It destroyed my hole washing machine :(
