If you google "Shifthead R1250 SC GS/GSA" the first hit should be a very useful PDF of all the torque settings for BMW R1250 GS, according to this it states under section 32 - Steering (Handlebar weight to handlebar) 40Nm.👍
Curiousity took over… I just looked for anything that I could find from BMW about this topic. The closest that I got was buying the repair manual (very tempted to doing so, but for around €40 on Amazon), or the installation manuals from BMW for all of their accessories. I did find the installation manual for the handlebar protectors for the R1150GS that I suppose did not come as standard back then. The torque for installing these according to BMW is 20 NM. Cheers.
Official BMW torque specs for the handlebar weight bolt M10 x 50 is 38 Nm. I also have the handguard extensions from wunderlich and they also say 38 Nm. But when I installed the extensions, with my torque wrench set to 38 Nm I felt like if I would continue to tighten it, I might break screw in half, so I never reached 38 🙈 I had the same problem with the akrapovic exhaust clamp, it says 19 Nm but reaching that value, holy crap it was scary 😨
@@gsd32i I will make a note to remember and tighten mine to 19 Nm as well, thanks! BTW, I just noticed at 3:50 ... did you tighten the allen screw with a torx bit? that's outrageous! 😁
When I added the Givi handguard extenders on my R1250GSA they were righteously tight..... on the flip side, I lost the left bar end weight on my 22 S1000XR?? found the right side only finger tight when I got home.. continued to check all fasteners on the bike, glad to report only the bar ends were overlooked at either the factory or during first service.... Dealer warrantied the lost part with minor resistance... (overpriced and poor first service was my winning argument) I opted for the Evotechs anyway (can part out when I sell or trade the bike) I like the thought of extending the protection beyond the end of the handguard
Btw, I did of course read the other responses on 38NM and yes, that seems to be very tight. But I have not found a BMW manual to confirm this. I do not doubt the information that has been shared, but a well know supplier has another opinion on this.
So far no issues with the bar ends, 38nm does seem too much ! I have checked them since I came back from my 1500 mile trip to the Alps and all fine . One of the best accessories I have fitted , no or very minimal vibes through bars , but everyone is different , who knows bigger hands may be less prone to the vibes , I have small hands !
do you know what...I have absolutely no idea! I just ordered the ones advertised on the Evotech website . Just got home having gone for a quick ride before we leave on our 1500mile road trip and already I can tell the difference , for the better. It may also be a combination of my OEM bar end bolts not being torqued up properly as they came undone very easily . Lets see how we go in the next 6 days then 🤪
I had a 2019 R1200Gs, and I didn't feel this vibration, and I bought an R1250GS Triple Black like yours, and I felt this vibration between 4000-5000 rpm, I took my bike to BMW several times and they said it was normal, thinking about it, looking at your vidoe, does the OPTION 719 Rearview Mirror being lighter than the old one make this difference? I'm going to wear these handlebar weight

Installed these the other day on my Triumph 660Tiger as well as grip puppies works like a charm .
Grab a set of grip puppies. That really helped me. GS grips are very small. Helped sore forearms and grip.
Ive gotten those also. I just fitted these bar ends. Next step will be cam timing alignment if I can get my hands on the tools.

Torque for bolt of bar end weights is 38Nm
Wow, that seems like thread stripping territory 🙄
@@gsd32i It does seems tight, but it's the figure given in the official BMW repair manual. I've tightened mine to that torque and it's ok.

I just did mine to what I felt comfy with and checked on them after a little while. little or no vibes . 😁

@@sunnycloudy1337 omg I just reviewed that video.... must have been a senior moment OR I couldn't find the correct bit! good spot. 🤪

Good video mate!!🔥
Thumbs up and much support from my side!
Big thanks

Best “cheap” accessory in my humble opinion 👍

Legend thanks for all the videos
Man cave looks awesome
Dogs are incredible
GSA also a top bit of kit
Thanks 👍
Great video. I have an R1200R with Barkbusters hand guards, Evotech said that their bar end weights aren’t designs to fit bikes with hand guards?
What they are saying is after market HG's, not standard OEM ones.
How do you determine the correct weight for the bar ends. Nice little video...thanks for sharing!

Hi, not sure ref 719, all I know is NO vibration for me since I fitted those bar ends. 😁
@@gsd32i I will buy this end bars, thanks for this video !
Did it make a difference?
100% no more tingling in my hand , definitely recommend them 😂
