    hell yeah got mine during Harvey also.. it's awesome and I just went through Beryl.. 1 week without power, no problem. It's hooked up to my house and runs the whole house. I have a soft start on my 4 ton ac and it works no problem.. I'm going with a bigger generator now. But not one complain from me about this generator.. freaking awesome

    I live by Biloxi Mississippi and we just went through Hurricane Zeta and my power was out for 4 days and this beast never got shut down. I have it wired in through a disconnect and transfer switch so it powers up one of my subpanels including a 2.5 ton air conditioner, and my hot water heater. These storm responder are absolute beast! I was averaging about 1/3 of a gallon an hour running half my house.

    Spark plug installed in OEM generator is a Torch F6TC. Dozens of other manufacturers plugs can be used - just cross reference the F6TC. Most of the time they just need cleaning from running idle on full choke too long, but I bought cleaned the old one, installed the new one and kept the old as a backup.

    I have the purchased same generator from Lowe's used thru several power outages no problem's. I did not run central AC with it. but all the other accessories work well with it.
    Surge protectors for computers did not like the current they keep bleeping on and off.
    Fuel use was very good was running less than 50% power. I had just now purchased a
    Duramax 13000 watt machine. I noted that run time at 50% power was 8 hours compared to
    the Briggs Storm Responder 6250. while waiting on delivery of the larger unite I did a compare some to figure the power generated per gallon of gasoline. Using product advertisements for this.
    Fuel use at 50% load.
    Storm Responder 6250 11 hours @ 3125 watts 8 gallons 75000 watt hours 9375 watt hours per gallon.
    Duramax XP13000E 8 hours @ 5200 watts 8 gallons 124800 watt hours 15600 watt hours per gallon.
    When Duramax is in operation I will test it and hopefully be-able to run the Central AC and keep it under the 50% load while watching movies or TV.

    Replacing spark plugs every year is just throwing away money. The manufacturer recommends it because it's an easy sale. Just use a $1.40 gapping tool to check and set the gap each year. You can get decades of use out of ONE plug. Only replace if it's pitted, the ceramic is cracked, or if it stops creating a spark. Use the money you saved in spark plugs to change the oil more often. Oil oxidizes and goes bad over time, even if you don't use the engine. Synthetic oil is good for long term storage where you aren't using an engine all the time, like with a generator.

    Looks like the one I bought at Lowe's a year or two ago. They were normally $800, but someone returned it saying they couldn't start it. It was discounted, then they knocked 20% off, plus I had a credit card from Lowe's that knocked it down another 5%. I think paid just over $400, plus tax, after all the additional discounts just to get rid of them. I try to remember to start it every month or two in load tested just to make sure.

    Need help on how you properly storage the same generator you have for a long term. Just got it few days ago after Ida hits. So I'm basically new to this generator world. I search it how to do it. They said to run the generator until it auto shut off and then refill it with a full tank of ethanol free gas mix with stabilizer? Is that right? What about the oil? Do I have to drain it too or leave it inside the tank? It also said to clean or flush the carburetor after storing it? Are those procedure right?

    • @davidal8049
      @davidal8049  2 роки тому

      Drain the gas. If it's time or if your close to it, change the oil, spark plug and air filter. When you need it again, just add gas. You can also add gas stabilizer to the gas if you want to keep it in the tank. It'll only be good for about six months. Add your stableizer, turn the fuel line off and run the generator until it turns off by itself. I leave my gas tank empty.

Top off the oil and you should be ok to crank. I know some PEP BOYS in Houston will repair them for a service charge. Also, maybe the best way is to just take it back for a replacement.
